Also, perfect to have the kitchen @moat farm for an all day breakfast! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in such idyllic setting by the sea and close to enjoy all the Lake District and Cumbria offers and highly recommend it for one or two people to stay!

Thank you so very much for your kind comments and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Shepherd's Hut and had a good break - notwithstanding the dreadful weather! We very much look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes, Caroline and John. Property Owner

  • "Had an absolutely amazing week here."

So peaceful , relaxing and tranquil. We had planned to visit different places while here, but couldn't drag ourselves away, ended up only leaving to shop for supplies. The beach is extremely secluded, just the occasional dog walker. Caroline and John were absolutely lovely. They are there if you need them but also respect your privacy and space. We were so relaxed and destressed by the time we left for home. I even shed a few tears upon leaving. Thank you so much Caroline and John for sharing this magical location with us!! PS recommend you take wellies for the beach

  • "We had an absolutely delightful experience staying at Caroline and John's Shepherd's Hut."

The hut itself exceeded our expectations, boasting a charming ambiance and coziness. Its picturesque setting, right next to a vast stretch of beach, was idyllic. Witnessing the dramatic tidal changes was mesmerizing - from expansive wet sands in the morning to a submerged beach by the afternoon. The hut was equipped with everything we needed, including continuous hot water and all the essentials for cooking our meals. Caroline and John were exceptional hosts, offering warmth and assistance throughout our stay. Caroline's homemade cakes were a delightful bonus. Our time there was thoroughly enjoyable, and we left with a tinge of sadness, already looking to return for another visit!

Thank you so very much for your lovely feedback and we are both so pleased that you had such a good stay with us. The hut is very much "our baby" and we always wanted it to be a real home from home experience for our guests so even more pleased that you liked it so much. The scenery on the beach does indeed change every single day and we feel really privileged to live here. We very much look forward to welcoming you both back and thank you so very much once again. • "The Shepherds Hut was so comfortable ,well equipped and its location so peaceful I found it hard to leave!"

The beach is literally on the doorstep and the scenery changed with the tides - when low tide it was possible to walk out ( take wellies) a good distance but at high tide the waves were spectacular. I enjoyed my beach walks very much and then home to a nice warm well insulated hut for sustenance! The owners lived in a farm house behind the hut and ran a cafe during the day with freshly cooked food. They provided a welcome pack which included eggs from their own hens and a delicious home baked cake. I enjoyed my holiday very much . Val ( late March 2023)

We are so glad you had a good holiday and a restful time. The beach is indeed amazing and we feel very privileged to live here and enjoy it every day - it changes so much. • "Comfortable bed and hot water never ran out as it has in other shepherds huts we’ve stayed in."

If we had to be really picky - the tea towels didn’t dry properly and left lots of fluff behind. It would’ve been handy to have some hooks to hang keys/clothes. And instead of the single arm chair in my opinion it would be better to have a small sofa and take out the stool/basket as difficult to watch tv from bed because of the angle. Very nicely maintained though, we loved the location and the welcome pack - thank you!

Thanks for that and so glad you had a good time and enjoyed the shepherd's hut. The tea towels were brand new for your booking so can only assume that is why they were a bit fluffy! We did measure up for a sofa instead of the arm chair but this would have been a very tight fit indeed and would have made the hut very cramped. There are two hooks on the back of the shower room door which could be used for clothes as well as towels and the shelf at the end of the bed has adequate space for keys, phones etc. Glad you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to seeing you again. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome, a lovely selection of goodies awaited us, including homemade cake. The hut feels much bigger than i expected. There was a super practical kitchen area, powerful shower, oodles of hot water and lots of under-bed storage. Very comfortable bed and armchair, even lovely vintage china, just perfect. You can tell much love and care has gone into the making. The absolute best thing, is the wonderful location. beautiful views and an almost private beach! We are already planning to visit again. Thank you Caroline and John and your lovely animals, we so loved our time with you. xx

Thank you so very much for a wonderful review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and appreciated the hut itself. It is very much "our baby" and we took a lot of time choosing furnishings etc for it. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and I hope the children went home with great memories. The hens, goats and Speedy, our donkey, send their very best wishes and we all look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you very much once again. Property Owner

The only issue I had was that I’m a light sleeper so because some of the windows didn’t have curtains I got woken up by the sun rising.

The property

Nestled on the edge of the medieval hamlet of Aldingham, is the charming Seashore Shepherds Hut at Moat Farm.

Seashore Shepherds Hut sits just 30 yards away from a beautiful, secluded beach, and is six miles away from the historic market town of Ulverston, which boasts a labyrinth of cobbled streets, Artisan shops and hosts several annual festivals including the famous Dickensian Festival in November, and Windermere is only 45 minutes away.

The hut offers a ground-floor and open-plan living space, alongside the most spectacular views over Morecambe Bay to the Yorkshire Hills beyond.

Seashore Shepherds Hut was built in August 2021 by the owners local Blacksmith to a very high specification, and is a perfect retreat for a couple who may simply wish to share a romantic getaway.

It would also be a fantastic base for the more adventurous who can windsurf or kayak, virtually from the front door they could also be romantic as well.

Pulling up you will spot the picturesque blue hut below the car parking space, which contains a lovely open-plan space with a double bed, dining space for two and a well-equipped kitchen area.

Seashore Shepherds Hut has been kitted out perfectly, making it a charming space for settling down with the Smart TV and electric fire after a long walk along the coast from the hut to Bardsea approximately 5 miles.

There is also an inbuilt shower room with basin, WC and a walk-in shower where you can freshen up for the day.

Stepping outside, you can fully take in the spectacular sea view from the outdoor furniture, with a fire pit.

Set within the private grounds of the historic Moat Farm (dating back to 1189 when William the Conqueror leased the land to the local Baron Le Flemming) it also has lovely views over the owner's orchard, where Stan and Ollie, the owners goats patrol (Stan Laurel, not the goat was born in Ulverston).

Although Moat Farm ceased to be a working farm over 20 years ago, the owners run a hot food takeaway service cooking delicious locally sourced brisket burgers, sausage burgers, bacon buns, tea, coffees, Lakes ice cream, homemade cake and their famous “proper chips”.

Seashore Shepherds Hut is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle, spend time with a loved one and enjoy the outdoors.
