  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Cottage."

The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch, thank you. Although it's possible to illuminate the steps from the cottage gate down to the entrance, the remaining steps from the carpark should also be lit if possible as it's pitch black and possibly dangerous for some guests.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely gardens with beautiful views of the fells. The only slight downside was no window/view from kitchen/living room area - this was not clear from the property description. Excellent communication from Margaret.

Beautiful views and a short walk into grasmere. Weather not great so didn’t get to enjoy the garden as much as we would have liked as it is well thought out with multiple seating options. A lovely cosy retreat for our visit.

  • "We loved the fresh cake and prosecco with dog treats - this was a really lovely suprise."

The property overall was fine although we hadn't realised that there was no windows in the main living area so we had to hang out in the bedroom if we wanted a view - and that was limited by the trees. The property heated up well - this was needed since it was jolly cold while we were there. However there were no logs for the log burning stove - we brought some up with us incase this was the case - but if you advertise a log burner and say fuel is included you should provide logs. We tried to get in touch before our holiday to find out if logs were provided and simply couldn't get in touch with Lakelovers - I tried on many occasions and eventually left a message for them to get back to us - still no reply. Very bad customer services - will try to avoid Lakelovers in future. If there was a real problem I have no confidence that we would have got any sort of response from them. We saw a few rats scurrying around outside the property and there was an alarming russling behind the sink so i think the owners need to address the rat situation.

As with all guests I contacted you prior to your arrival at which point you could have asked me personally about the wood Nevertheless there was a supply of heat bricks in the fully accessible utility room.I am sorry you did not enjoy the view of the brook and trees from the window but the view of Helms Crag from the garden is spectacular. With regards the alleged vermin I am shocked as I have not had any comments prior or post your visit but rest assured if true will be dealt with immediately. Published on behalf of owner. • "Wisteria is a stunning cottage, just as beautiful as the pictures."

We had lovely gifts on arrival, even something for the dog which made us all feel very welcome. The furnishings and fittings are high quality and tasteful. The bed and bedding hotel standard. The cupboards well stocked with everything we could’ve needed. Phone charging either side of the bed was really appreciated as were the usb/charging ports downstairs. The upstairs is a big beautiful space with great views. And then there’s the big garden with the brook running through with places to sit, you have your own little piece of the lakes. The perfect place to relax. The downstairs clever and varied lighting options make up for there being just the door and the upstairs makes up for that for natural light. It was a little walk into town which could be a problem for some, it wasn’t for us. There are a few steps down to the house from the parking area which would be an issue for some for unloading the car but we managed ok. We are very likely to book again if we’re heading to grasmere. Highly recommend.

The cottage was warm and cosy and well equipped with everything we required. The cottage is in a great location with an easy walk into Grasmere and close to two local pubs. The views from the garden are stunning and we would definitely return to take advantage of the outdoor seating areas when the weather improves!!

  • "When we got there the key safe was broken and as we was checking in on a Sunday we had to contact Emergency number, leave voice mail, wait for someone to get back to us, wait for someone to come out to the property."

All of this took around an hour. The wood burner doesn’t have any logs or tools. Very cold property needed the heating on nearly 24/7. Plus only 2 windows in whole of property. So many light switches that trying to turn a light on was a game of guess who. Floors dusty as well.

The lockbox was not broken and I believe this was user error The heating is at a constant minimum temperature of 16 degrees The downstairs open plan layout covers a kitchen, dining and lounge area There are 6 switches that operate the outside light, wall lights and 4 lighting zones to cover the total downstairs. • "This was the perfect holiday cottage for us, in the heart of the lake district."

The cottage itself had a lovely quiet poistion, with a very short walk to the pub and not much further into Grasmere where there was a great choice of coffee shops and places to eat. The cottage itself had everything we needed with great decor throughout. Would love it in the summer when you could sit in the garden but unfortunately for us it was a bit wet and chilly! The biggest advantage for us was that you could do fantastic walks from the cottage itself, can recommend a walk up Helm Crag. The owner of this property was particularly helpful as we left something behind and kindly posted it back for us the next day which we were very greatful for . We would definately recommend this cottage and am sure that we will return.

Weather was a bit iffy but we still had a fabulous time. The cottage is set just on the edge of town with magnificent views of Helm Crag. We were able to have breakfast in the garden by the fast flowing stream on the days the sun came out. All the eateries and pubs of Grasmere are within walking distance even with a brolly also the Yan and Travellers Rest on the outskirts of town are very close. The cottage has great areas to read / relax and the tv has Netflix etc. it’s a 5 hour walk from the cottage the to the top of Helm Crag, then along the top to the back of Easedale and finally back through the valley. Awesome views throughout this walk, then you can enjoy a g&t from the cottage garden and look up at the magnificent view to where you have just been

Loading and unloading was a nightmare. Whilst the property was alright in itself, it was very dark and dingy. The living area being below ground level with the only window being in the door. Outside the door were high shrubs allowing very little light in.If it is intended to continue to allow dogs, I would suggest the addition of a stair gate across the bottom of the stairs (I brought mine with me) Upstairs was alright if you are happy being in a bordellow. The property was equipped adequately and the heating was very efficient. The views from the garden were beautiful.Would I stay there again? No way.

The property was finished to a high standard and was clean and tidy .The kitchen was small but well equipped . We loved sitting looking out the bedroom window which afforded lovely scenery all be it obscured slightly by the trees. The gardens which had several seating areas were well maintained affording lovely views to the hills and countryside beyond. Grassmere is about 10 minutes walk and there are also a few inns nearby. I would say that it would not be suitable if you have any mobility issues .I had a slight leg injury at the time and found it difficult to walk back from Grassmere and also negotiating the steps and gravel path to the parking area of the cottage . I would recommend a stay at this cottage for its tranquility and location.

The property

This superbly presented studio cottage sits in a tranquil position with views across the Vale of Grasmere, in the heart of the scenic Lake District National Park.

Refurbished to a superb standard, Wisteria is a romantic bolthole for couples seeking a break in this scenic Lakeland region.

Internally, the property has been given a real ‘wow’ factor with boutique fixtures and fittings throughout.

Enter into the open-plan living space, offering bespoke cabinetry and granite worktops amongst a range of appliances, encouraging those budding chefs to rustle up their favourite dishes.

Serve the fruits of your labour at the dining table, popping open a bottle of wine and toasting to a much-needed break with your partner, before switching on the Smart TV and picking up out a movie to watch.

Climb upstairs to reach the bedroom, offering a luxurious flair with a double bed and large picture window; relax up on the window seat and enjoy views over the garden, with a charming woodburning stove to assist in the chillier months.

Prepare for the day in style within the en-suite shower room, boasting beautiful tiling and presentation (look out for the Pelican!) with large imposing mirrors, a spacious shower with monsoon shower head and a double basin.

To the outside of this Gramsere home is a spacious garden with mature planting and a secluded patio with bistro table and chairs, ideal for evening drinks after a long day.

Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, Grasmere is a lovely place for a romantic break in peaceful surroundings.

If you fancy an evening away from the kitchen, the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a great place for an evening meal, and the Forest Side is in walking distance for Michelin-star tastes.

You'll find all the shops you need in the attractive village centre, including a convenience store and independent shops selling local treats.

You'll really be able to indulge your artistic side in Grasmere, which is a former home of poet William Wordsworth; his home Dove Cottage still stands in the village and is open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum.

A number of art galleries preserve the legacy of artists who've been inspired by the landscapes around the village - of particular note is the Heaton Cooper Studio.

Venture to the bustling town of Bowness, home to the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, or take a leisurely cruise across Lake Windermere and admire the scene from a different perspective.

Wisteria is a fabulous bolthole for two, whatever time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
