  • "A little haven hidden away and so glad we found it."

Beautiful inside and out and so peaceful that we really were able to switch off and relax, we really hope to return. It was clean, cosy and well equipped with a beautiful view as an added bonus. The directions were clear and easy to follow which made the journey over stress free. Everything was great and have already recommended it to other people.

  • "Lovely stay and perfect for a short get away."

The instructions to get to High Rigg were a little confusing and we didn't spot any signs until the actual entrance so struggled a little to locate it. The place itself was incredibly quiet and picturesque which is fantastic to enjoy the scenery. We did find the bed a tad uncomfortable and being left with 1 and a half toilet rolls and no matches for the fire/BBQ was a little frustrating but we managed by buying some. The hot tub was one of the best features, lovely to jump into this after a long day plus the fresh cottage pies and sparkling wine really made the hut feel cozy and welcoming, would definitely stay again.

There are plenty of places to visit by car in the surrounding areas that will keep you busy We did a lot of walking with our Dog (Mia) and she also thoroughly enjoyed it and lost weight in the process ( She needed it lol ) We recommend this beautiful place 100%

The staff were polite and helpful and on hand if needed, The views were lovely I loved how it was down a cute lit path, proper little hideaway. It was very clean and you could tell the owners keep on top of things. The hot tub was very relaxing and we used the outdoor log burner and the inside one, they provide some logs which was great, no matches though. Dean was very helpful when I (stupidly) couldn't turn the hob on. VERY easy check in process, a code is supplied for a key box, so you don't have to see or talk to anybody.

!!! This small family run business is certainly one to look out for. The location itself is magnificent, with amazing views! We stayed for 3 nights, and it was just perfect. The hot tub is definitely the thing that captures people for these types of getaways. Enough cannot be said for the location, or the family that run these hideaways. If you want a private getaway this would be the one. I was so impressed with the cleanliness, the overall look of the lodge. We had everything we need. The owners were excellent always there for us when we needed them. It is an easy drive into the Lake District for walks, and site seeing. Not to mention the views themself from the lodge. Its quiet, its private, it unique. I would recommend this lodge to anyone! If you want to relax on some annual leave, or you just want a break, this is the place. I will certainly be coming back, to explore even more. Family run businesses are too and far between nowadays, but this one hits the spot, it just shows there are still small businesses who care!!! Get yourself down to the hideaway and lodges, you will not be disappointed! I just want to say a massive thank you to the family that run this, we had an excellent time, and really wish them all the best.

The hot tub was ready for us to use. It is such a lovely, secluded area that we never wanted to leave. We drove about an hour away from the hut each day to visit the different lakes but that was personal choice, there is lots of walks nearby and places to visit that we could have. We had dinner at a local pub which was lovely. Cooking facilities in the hut were great, bathroom was lovely and the space was incredible. The views you could not get any better than that, there were a lovely herd of cows just outside the back fence of the hut which was lovely scenery. The town surrounding the hut (Brampton) was great, and a short 20 min drive to the lovely town of Carlisle was great - we did this one day then visited Keswick the next, and Windermere after that. Hot tub was perfect and very private. All round amazing experience and will be booking again. My wife and I booked at High Rigg for our "mini-moon" (the original having been cancelled due to Covid-19). We were taken a back by everything about the accommodation. To get to it you disappear through an entrance in a beech hedgerow and follow the fairy lights festooned through the trees to the lodge - totally enchanting and even more beautiful when the sun goes down. The accommodation was of the highest standard and we were greeted with a homemade shepherds pie and a vegetable lasagne plus a bottle of prosecco courtesy of our hosts. The bed was supremely comfy and the log burner made the lodge super cosy. Everything was spotlessly clean and our privacy was maintained throughout our stay. Life didn't seem as if it could to get much better as we sat in the luxurious hot tub sipping on the finest champagne and admiring the endless views towards Scotland. The owners were lovely and the Shepard’s pie on arrival was amazing. If you want to completely get away from it all in a fabulous Shepard’s hut with the most amazing views then this is definitely the place to visit. We had the best honeymoon that we will always remember.

  • "We loved our stay here!"

It was our honeymoon and there was a shepherd's pie and Prosecco waiting for us in the fridge. Hot tub has stunning views and is a great place to watch the sunset from. The place is clean and cosy, with everything we need. One thing to note, the listing said it had wifi but it doesn't... but this didn't affect our enjoyment of our stay because we came to disconnect :) Thank you so much, 10/10, would recommend to everyone!

The cabin was well secluded over looking the countryside. Couldn't recommend this place enough to family and friends, the cabin was well kitted out and lots of thought has gone into the décor in and around the cabin. Would love to return soon!

Stunning view and a very cosy retreat away from the world. The accomodation is very small as expected but has everything you need for a lovely mini break. It's set in beautiful grounds and the couple who own it are so welcoming and friendly. The fizz and shepherds pie went down a treat. Be sure to pop into the shop on site Gardenalia we bought some Halloween and Christmas bits and bobs...all very pretty. We are hoping to return in December fingers crossed we are not in lockdown.

  • "This is possibly the loveliest place we have ever stayed."

I was worried when I first booked as it was an impulse booking but I had nothing to worry about it. Its cute, cosy, modern, stylish, with a very nice hot tub. The first night we had a view of a stunning sunset from our hot tub. Although, due to covid our hosts couldn't meet us on arrival. Brenda spotted us pulling up after our day out and stopped for a chat. What a truly lovely person she is! I cant pick one fault with this accommodation. The shepherd's hideaway is set back behind a walkway of bushes which adds a special romantic feel. I would 100% book again!

The whole place was spotlessly clean and fully kitted out with everything we needed. The hut is in a private clearing that is circled by trees and has a fantastic view out over the countryside. The outdoor hot tub was great and the fairy lights around the trees were a lovely touch. We had a great time using the bbq too. Brenda and David were excellent hosts and very responsive. Would definitely recommend!

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
