"This is a perfect cottage for a relaxing holiday."
It has everything needed, is very well furnished and equipped, spotlessly clean and the owner is very welcoming and helpful. It is situated in a quiet lane just off the town centre, where there are shops, cafes, pubs and takeaways. Kirkby Stephen is a good centre for all levels of walks. We will definitely book again.

Everything you need is provided to a very high standard. Location is extremely convenient, 2 minutes walk to town centre pubs, cafes, restaurants and plenty of good walking in the area accessible on foot, by car, bus and train.

We have never stayed in a cottage before so didn't quite know what to expect but this cottage was 5 star everything you needed was supplied a lovely welcome gift bathroom big and spacious shower and bath bed was so comfy open plan living room kitchen also there was an iron and ironing board and hairdryer provided which was great we are looking forward to hopefully returning in 2025

The cottage is decorated and furnished to high standard, also spotlessly clean. We met Katie the owner of the cottage and she was very friendly and asked if there was anything we needed and, I know if we had needed anything she would have beeen more than willing to help us. The bed was really comfy and the area where the cottage is situated is very close to all shops and eating places whilst at the same time was quiet and we had a lovely restful stay. I can definitely recommend this cottage and we would certainly book it again.

Being close to several pubs, eateries and shops but in a quiet street was a bonus.
The location was also ideal for access to the Yorkshire dales, the lakes and Durham. All of this plus gorgeous weather made for a really great holiday.

"A little research before arriving proved to be invaluable - we knew where to park, which breakfasts to try (The Mulberry Bush came out on top), which walks to do."
The cottage did what we wanted and needed (hot showers and a comfy bed). Would recommend the Fat Lamb for food but not for their 'nature reserve'. The Engine Shed is also recommended as is the La'l Nook. Plenty of wildlife to look out for including a variety of birds of prey, kingfishers, voles and red squirrels. The circular walks from Kirkby Stephen to Pendragon Castle, Newbiggin On Lune to Smardale, and Sedburgh to Brigflats were all very enjoyable. Thanks to Katie for her help when our arrival was delayed due to Storm Babet - our only disappointment was not seeing a real life Macaw flying about.

A cosy cottage in the middle of Kirkby Stephen a quiet little lane through to the town with all the amenities close to hand, spotlessly clean, massive comfortable bed and large bathroom and shower downstairs then the main sitting and kitchen area upstairs with lots of light coming in through the velux windows and door with Juliet balcolny, a dishwasher in the kitchen but for two people was never used personally I would have installed a washing machine or washer dryer your muddy wet walking clothes, would definitely return again though

), super clean and in a prime location to explore Lakes and Yorkshire. Despite being near a main road it is very quiet. I would definitely come back! Only comment as a coffee lover (as it is a cottage for 2): a larger cafetière would be fabulous!

It would, however, have been helpful if you had listed more places of interest in the area to visit as we exhausted those that you gave after two or three days, e.g. The Bowes Museum, The Bird of Pray Center, Appleby on market day, etc, etc.

Stayed for 2 nights for a wedding down the road and couldn’t fault the accommodation at all. Clean to high standard and nice little touches. If I was visiting Kirby Stephen again, I would hesitate to book again at Mascaw. Thanks for your hospitality

A few small things would be improvement: a lot more hangers needed, 5 for 2 people is not enough, also chest of drawers and bin in the bedroom. Most places have a washing machine these days so you can refresh towels, it's a shame there is only a dishwasher which didn't get used.

"Just returned from a week holiday at this cottage and it was perfect."
This cottage has everything you would need as well as all local amenities yards away literally. Hamper and fresh milk in the fridge was a lovely touch.
This area is also central to many walks including The 9 Standards.
Even the lakes are approx 1 hr drive.
Would definitely book this cottage again when next in the area.

Brilliant kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge, nothing more needed...
Great communication from the owner and a lovely welcome pack as well. Parking was on street but never a problem and never more than 100 yards from the cottage.
It was in a great location for us to explore the Lakes, Dales and Hadrians wall, although these all required a bit of a drive but on lovely roads!! The village itself had way more amenities than we thought with some great walks as well. The L'al Nook pub, about 50 yards away, was our favourite. Great welcome, great beer and wine and nicely quirky.
We'd definitely recommend and would definitely go back

IN the centre of the town, but in a quiet position, so no noise form the street. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. The welcome muffins and gift basket was a nice touch.
Wi.fi was patchy at times, but given the position of the cottage, this was understandable
The only thing I would suggest that could have been provided was perhaps kitchen roll and a pan scourer, aside from that, everything was there

It was in a great location and we took advantage of the local services as we walked from the cottage most days along the beautiful Eden Valley. Parking was close and not a problem. The owner left a very nice Welcome Pack and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property.

Lovely clean well presented, comfortable and very welcoming property. Wonderful hamper on arrival including some homemade cupcakes. The cottage although no parking was not a problem, always room to park on a near by road. Great location being just off of the high street, with plenty of places for us to buy takeaways, with there being Covid restrictions on eating only outside,highly recommend the Indian restaurant . Wonderful walks from your door step, close to lovely villages in Cumbia and The Dales. Highly recommend, we would love to visit again some day. Thank you .
