We were able to park car close by and never used again for the week. Plenty of places to walk from the doorstep and train station within walking distance.

ideally positioned in the town, for shopping, entertainment, local walks or to travel further afield.
We found the shower tray very smooth and my wife would of like the use of a shower mat.

Great parking, on a quiet street near by.
Katy is a great hostess.
There are so many places to eat out in Kirby Stephen it is hard to pick where to go.
We would highly recommend Century Chinese, we ate in. (they have take away to)
Would highly recommend Macaw cottage 4a and looking forward to returning in the future.

Can happily recommend for a week's stay. Loved the upside down layout. Can recommend Berry, Grape and Grain as a place to eat (brunch on our last morning) and Brysons the Bakers who do great pies, and rolls to take on a day out walking

"A perfect little upside-down house for two."
Tucked in a tiny alley off the high street so walking distance to plenty of real-ale bars, cafes and take-away. Plenty of street parking nearby. Lovely quality bedding and equipment. Could possibly do with a bit more cutlery and crockery if you're preparing your own meals.
Lots of great walking either from the door or within 30 minutes drive. We would definitely recommend

"An enchanting retreat - very well presented and very comfortable."
Originally planned Kirkby Stephen as a base for daytrips further afield. Instead, ended up spending more time at the cottage and within Kirkby Stephen. The accommodation, cafes, bistros, pubs and bakeries were fantastic along with some great riverside walks. Well rested and thoroughly rejuvenated. Thank you!

"This has been a wonderful stay at an absolutely outstanding property."
It is comfortable, with a bed you can ignore each other in. Comfortable seating, which is never big enough for us as we are total couch spreaders, but still the large footstool helps. The bathroom is great, I am disabled so the choice of giant barh or large shower was great. Total control heating which wasn't needed as the place is extremely warm. I don't cook, wash, iron on holiday but apart from.no washing machine it is all there for you. Apart from softer lights at the bed, we could not have been more at home. There is a local Fish and chip place, Pizza and pub choices who seem to favor pies. The choice is very good depending on your eating preferences, which wasn't ours, but we ate at anyway as everything is a short walking distance. We would return to this lovely place again. I am quite challenged and managed the stairs and everything was very easy for me. Well done to the owners.

50 yards from a real ale micro pub. 150 yards from a friendly Bistro/Bar. Local Chinese, Indian, Pizza, coffee shop and chip shops. Great base for touring the local countryside.

The accommodations were perfect. Spotless and everything we needed for our stay.
It is very central to the village and all amenities. There are a great selection of pubs and eateries as well as shops. There is plenty to do from the doorstep but also the cottage has great access to local attractions.
We would definitely return.

Everything was spot on and as decribed. Really was a home from home - lovely comfy bed, huge bathroom with bath and shower, great cooking facilities and big sofa to relax on in evenings. The welcome basket of goodies added an extra touch. Set in a quiet street with plenty of parking close by - you couldn't wish for more. Lovely village with plenty of eating places and local walks as well as a great base for touring the Lakes and Dales. Top marks - will definately be back.

Thank you for our welcome treats. Just what we needed for a peaceful and relaxing break. Loved Kirkby Stephen which is a good base for visiting the Lakes and other local villages etc. Plenty of walks from the cottage if you don’t want to drive anywhere. Sunday lunch at The Black Bull at Nateby is a must!! The local pubs and cafes in Kirkby Stephen are good too if you just wanted a walk into the village.
Will be sure to recommend and hopefully we will be able to visit again soon.

It was clean and nicely decorated, very spacious, light and airy. Great amenities and in the perfect location within Kirkby Stephen to be able to walk to local pubs, cafes and shops. Only around half an hour drive to get into the Lake District and the property had a very useful information book for places to see, which we found really helpful to plan trips out. The cottage has all the facilities required as being of a new re furbished cottage.There are afew issues with regards to the Wi Fi which are being addressed,but did not spoil our weeks stay at all.The parking is just a few yards across the road,which was never a problem to park,So for anybody wanting a few bnights stay in a delightful ,peaceful cottage in lovely surrounding country side ,then i would certainly recommend Macaw cottages.

The bed was great. All newly done and decorated well. Easy parking on a quiet road very close to cottage. The village is literally 20 seconds walk away and lovely shops but cottage was equally very quiet..we slept very well. Would recommend to stay there . Good value for money and only 30 minutes from lake district.

"This is a little gem of a find."
The cottage is very well appointed, clean and spacious. The bed very comfortable. The large bath was great after a days walking in the lakes. There is everything you could need to cook in the kitchen, although we made good use of a couple of the local eateries whilst we were there. The location of this property is ideal for access to the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District. We would stay here again.
