"Lovely cosy cottage."
It had everything you could need provided. And a lovely little garden that is safe for dogs. The Tolkien trail starts just across the rd. And it is only 25 mins from Clitheroe. I would recommend this cottage to anybody considering having a break there.

"We had a fantastic week at duck down cottage, the location is fantastic for walks and exploring the local areas, traffic can be quite noisy at times as the road is quite a busy road."
The tolkin trail was a lovely walk, we also recommend Gisburn forest. Langdon Brook and the forest of bowland for some great walks.
We visited the surrounding villages and bought some of the famous Cowmans sausages in Clitheroe absolutely delicious

A nice and relaxing cottage with a pub just a few feet away . Long walks ,nice pub food and drink . Back to a welcoming fire , feet up , bottle of red and a good book ,perfect . Can’t recommend Duckdown highly enough . Hope to be back again .

"Duckdown is a lovely old cottage beautifully furnished with excellent ambient lighting."
We found it well supplied with equipment and appliances. Thanks to the wet and muddy weather the washer drier was very well used ! The bed was large and comfortable and the bedroom lovely and warm. Although we walked him regularly it was good to have a fully enclosed and safe garden for our dog Chico.
The cottage is perfectly situated with walks along the river Ribble or the Tolkien Trail straight from the door. Whalley and Clitheroe are nearby and both worth a visit. Restaurant wise we'd recommend the Aspinall Arms on the outskirts of Whalley for lovely food, great service and excellent ambience. A lovely break all round.

So much attention to detail, cosy, quirky and perfect for snuggling in after a full day of exploring. Perfect in every way, a credit to the owners. We found it very hard to leave!!! The Forest and Trough of Bowland.....Absolutely stunning scenery. Thankyou for a lovely break.

"Fabulous 'boutique' style decorations and furniture, full of character and interest where-ever you look."
A lot of care has been taken in choosing the surroundings and even the mandolin on the wall was tuned correctly. Everything we needed in the kitchen and bathrooom and a very comfy bed. If we come to Lancashire again we will try to book Duckdown again. BTW I'm 6'4 and I only had to duck through the front door!

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped with unique decor that has obviously been carefully chosen by someone with an artistic flair. Hurst Green and the surrounding area are lovely and quiet with plenty of footpaths on the doorstep.

"Duckdown Cottage is wonderfully homely and inviting."
Genuinely charming with everything you need for a restful stay.
We found the 2 nearby pubs lovely, with the closer one being slightly higher quality if you want a meal in the village.
There are some nice walking routes around the village with spectacular views. Nearby, by car, there are plenty of places to visit that are well worth short day trips out.
All in all Duckdown was a lovely cottage with a cosy welcoming feel

"What a beautiful eclectic cottage!"
This little beauty fits in perfectly with the wonderful mystical landscape. Beautifully clean and cosy with some welcome treats for us and our dog! The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the log burner was perfect. We took some extra logs but there is ample supplied for one or maybe two nights. We enjoyed some amazing walks nearby and a well earned drink in the welcoming local pubs. No hairdryer at the cottage so if you need one remember to take your own otherwise everything you need is in the cottage. Parking could be tricky in high season but we didn’t have a problem and didn’t want to use our car anyway - too many local walks. An amazing cottage un a wonderful location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone

We really enjoyed time in this pretty shabby chic cottage. No expense seemed to have been spared in decorating the rooms with interesting, cross -cultural decorations. No bare walls here! We particularly liked the wood fire and comfy bed.

"Really cosy cottage in wonderful location."
Lovely big comfortable super king bed meant we slept like logs! Lots of nice decorative touches throughout. We really enjoyed the location, there are lots of walks in the area and we visited both the Forest of Bowland and Pendle Hill. It rained a lot, but we were expecting that in October.
A couple of points for improvement (not intended criticism as we know the property is quite new as a holiday cottage) - it would have been nice to have had a better welcome pack. Most places we have stayed provide fresh milk, butter, bread, jam and wine. These are the things that get you through the first night! Also the plug in air freshener brought on my asthma, so turned it off and did seem to be masking dog smell (downstairs) and cigarettes (upstairs).
These are just minor points, the cottage is lovely and we enjoyed our stay very much.

The bed was comfortable and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed. There were great walks from the cottage with stunning views and it was very peaceful. The owners were so friendly when l contacted them for key pick up instructions and made recommendations for places to eat and visit. Definitely one to go back to.
