  • "The home and facilities were lovely and as described."

The communication was really helpful and friendly and was there if needed. The location was perfect for us with having shops walkable and access to the lakes easy. Plenty of parking. We were made aware that recent storms had caused a little bit of damp but it was being dealt with, and with the building being so old it made sense but there was no sign of it when we were there. The only thing that I would recommend being improved would be tea making facilities in the other rooms. If we visit again we would defo book the same place. Thank you for helping make our family holiday amazing

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It sounds like you all had a great time. It's a good suggestion about the tea and coffee making facilities and oene that wouldn't take to much to implenten so thank you! We'd love to welcome you back. Kindest Regards Julie Property Owner

  • "The reviews are not consistent with what we experienced."

The house has a very big damp/mould problem. In the upstairs bedroom Easter was running down the walls. The ceiling in the ling was bowing and taped up. The shower downstairs was blocked and couldn’t be used for more than 30 seconds before it was about to overflow. The lounge had thick cobwebs. The windows had mould all around them and our family member woke up on the first day with damp clothes. The whole house smelt of damp and mould. The dishwasher tray was not the right one for that machine and wouldn’t work properly. Bathroom doors wouldn’t shut properly, loose wires hanging out of sockets. We have sent a very long complaint with photo evidence but steer clear of this property it is a health hazard!

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that your stay didn't live up to expectations and we are disappointed you had these issues during your stay. We have noted your issues, and the maintenance team will be investigating, and any improvements will be implemented to improve Clarence House. Following a full investigation, we are pleased we have reached a resolution for you, and we have acted upon your feedback received to ensure future guests have a great experience. Property Owner

Still waiting for a response... A £4000+ weeks stay away should be dealt with as a matter of urgency with the videos, photographs & overall complaints we had. Not good enough!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We were disappointed to hear that you’d had some issues with the property during your stay. The experience our guests have in our holiday homes is very important to us, so we're grateful to you for contacting us to make us aware. • "A wonderful property, and almost worthy of 5 stars, considering the cost paid for the rental thereof."

.... However, a few comments that may be considered to improve for future guests : There was no internet reception in the ‘barn’ building; Only 2 dish washer tablets in the property accommodating 12 people for a week; Only one tea towel; Just 2 black bin liners for disposing of rubbish; No curtain at the glass of the door to one of the adjacent bed rooms; - Maybe some of them are small issues, and cost very little to the property owner/agency, but considering the rental charge , we would have thought they could, and should be provided

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. All feedback it greatly appreciated as it means we can continue to improve our guests experience. I'm sorry to hear there was no internet in The Barn. It usually works well so I'm wondering if it was down to the storms we have been experiencing lately. I have asked the team to rectify the curtain issue. Regarding what we leave for our guests arrival, these items are left in case you have forgotten to pack things like dishwasher tablets or bin liners to save you having to pop out to the shop and buy some when you've only just arrived. The property is self catering so guests would be expected to bring things like this themselves. It sounds like all in all you had a great time thank you for the 94/100 feedback score. Thanks you for taking the time to write this review... however it is 100% inaccurate! In all of the guest correspondence we send, up to 6 weeks before your stay, right up until the day before, it states that we have a 24 hour out of hours service. I'm not sure why you would thing that we only allow you to report issues before 5pm on a Friday when check in is at 4pm? • "Lovely weekend, the communal living and dining space was amazing and worked so well for our large extended family !"

The gardens and hot tub were so lovely to relax in. My only recommendation would be for anti-slip mats in the showers in the cottages, they were slippy.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It's really important as it means we can continue to improve our properties and make tour guests experience all the more enjoyable. I've asked the team to get anti-slip bath mats for the 2 cottages to eliminate the issue, but thanks for letting us know. It sounds like you had a great time at Clarence House and how lovely for you and all the family to be able to get together to enjoy it. The garden and hot tub are always popular and this time of year the garden is just starting to come into bloom. We'd love to see you back at Clarence House . Best Wishes Julie Property Owner

  • "Had a wonderful stay at Clarence House for a family get together to celebrate a very special birthday."

The accommodation was perfect for our party and we couldn’t have wished for better. Beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of room for a large party to sit together in the evening and eat together when needed. Bathrooms were clean and linen and towels spotless. Within walking distance to the beach/sea and an easy stroll to the local pub. Around 40minute drive to Windermere which is beautiful. We got a flat tyre whilst we were there and the caretakers Leanne and Phil couldn’t have been kinder letting us shelter from the rain while we waited for assistance. They made a very stressful day much easier and we can’t thank them enough. Would definitely recommend.

My great aunt locked herself out of her room as they are on Yale locks but the manager was round straight away to resolve and was always happy to help. The hot tub is a nice touch and you are totally separate from the property next door. Overall, really good stay and the manager was brilliant, would definitely recommend.

Kitchen is big and there is a lot of pots and pans, cups, glasses available Only minor thing was that tiles were very slippery going from hot tub to the main property. I would recommend to add that only 2 small dogs are allowed in the advert as this info was received after booking was made. Overall 5* property

About the location

DALTON-IN-FURNESS

Ulverston 5 miles.

The ancient town of Dalton-in-Furness lies in a narrow valley on that part of the Furness Peninsula which extends deep into Morecambe Bay. Once the leading town of Furness, Dalton has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The architecture of the town includes some interesting buildings in and around the market place, as well as an elegant Victorian drinking fountain, the market cross and slabs of stone used for fish drying in the 19th century. The 14th-century pele tower, known as Dalton Castle, was originally a place of refuge for the monks of nearby Furness Abbey, an impressive sandstone ruin nestling in a peaceful wooded valley. Within easy reach of the town are the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the world's only Laurel and Hardy museum at Ulverston and the Haventhwaite Steam Railway which runs to Lakeside, where you can board a steam train for Bowness or Ambleside. Just north of Dalton-in-Furness is the stunning Duddon Estuary and Duddon Valley, with Cartmel, Holker Hall and Grizedale Forest within easy reach. Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, and surrounded by mountains and beaches, this area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Please note: there is an 10pm outside curfew at this property, after which time all guests must stop using the hot tub and strictly observe the hours of rest and not cause any form of disturbance to our neighbours.
