Brilliant walking opportunities from the door. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
-
"This is the best cottage we've ever stayed in."
Unlike a lot of holiday cottages which are ok for a short break, Lock Cottage is furnished like a real home
-
"This was the first time to have rented a cottage."
Highly recommend this location. Cottage was lovely and cosy. Lovely coal fire, great facilities, spacious and it was great to have access to a washing machine, fridge and there was milk in the fridge. Beds are comfy and it was great to have brilliant broadband. Easy to find and breath taking views from the windows. I would definitely book again.

"Loved our stay at Locks Cottage."
Very clean comfortable and homely cottage with everything we needed. Location is excellent with several nice walks from the doorstep. Back porch area is good for coming in with muddy boots and lovely open fire for the evening. Icing on the cake was watching the mandarin ducks from the bedroom window! Would definitely come again.
Thank you for that lovely review we would be very pleased if you returned to Locks cottage. Property Owner

"A lovely week at Locks cottage inspite if some testing weather."
We especially appreciated the cosy atmosphere when we arrived back at the cottage which warmed up very quickly. We would have appreciated a folder containing more information about rubbish collection, linen etc at the end of our stay. A few proper wine glasses would be appreciated also.

"All I can say is it was superb, fantastic everything you needed and more."
Will definitely book again. Thank you very much

Don't change a thing . . .

"A lovely cottage in a really picturesque setting."
Its an easy walk into settle along a riverside publc foot-path for part of the way. The garden is beatiful to sit and watch the wildlife from, we even spotted a kingfisher one evening
-
"Overall the cottage was very comfy, and an ideal location for walking straight from your door, lovely walks up the river to Stain forth and down to Settle and an excellent location for walking from the door for very long walks in the area, the cottage facilities could do with a very slight over hall, disappointed there was no welcome pack with information on the cottage facility's and information about what to do with the rubbish, overall a very happy stay and would rent again."
-
"A very quiet spot even though cottages close by."
Pretty and inviting cottage with everything you need, the Xmas tree Was a lovely surprise Settle village nearby with pubs & shops. Although the weather was rubbish, being tucked up with the open fire made it warm & cosy, would recommend to others.

"A very comfortable well equipped cottage with a perfect location."
We were there in the spring, and the garden was a lovely sun trap, with flowers, looking over a large duck pond with views of the hills. Sun in the garden all day (when it wasnt cloudy). Large lounge / dining room. The riverside Ribble Way passes the property, and several other footpaths leading straight into the hills or to Settle which is within walking distance. A lovely part of the Dales with wide open spaces and not many villages or houses when you leave the river.

"Brilliant place to stop for touring Yorkshire Dales."
Comfortable, warm, quiet and clean. Everything you need. Home from home.
-
"Locks cottage is in a lovely location with walks straight from the door, the property could do with some upgrading as the interior furniture is very old,a new fridge really is required as its extremely old and has no temperature adjustment, that said we had a very enjoyable week."
-
"The cottage was very comfortable and it was really nice to arrive to a fire burning and a christmas tree lit up in the lounge."
Generally the cottage was well appointed.Enjoyed seeing the ducks at the bottom of the garden. Due to the parking being on the lane between the cottages and no turning point it was tricky to park the car.
-
"This is a brilliant cottage - perfect location, roomy and well laid out property, warm and comfortable and clean."
Easy to find in a lovely quiet spot within easy walking distance of Stainforth, Langcliffe and Settle. Lots of lovely local walks as well and a good base for drives out to the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland
-
"Excellent, homely cottage with great garden, and very spacious house for small group."
Easy to find, and good base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.Clean, traditional decorations and so cosy.Lovely location and amenities.Even had the heatwave so it was perfect!
-
"This is a lovely traditional cottage in a perfect location."
We arrived in sunshine and sitting in garden with drink surrounded by only sounds of ducks and the occasional mooing cow was just what we needed. Lots of lovely walks and Yorkshire market towns to visit on doorstep. Hope to visit again in future.

"Beautiful cottage with a fantastic lake view."
-
"Great cottage, larger than expected & very comfortable for 4 friends."
Very picturesque with a river end at end of garden. Stone walls kept cottage cool even on a red hot day. Parking a nightmare - only facilitates one car. Would definately book it again.
-
"A really lovely cottage in a great position to tour the country lanes of the Dales."
A great place to visit we will definitely be returning.
-
"No. This was one of the best cottages we have booked through Sykes"
-
"Lovely cottage, coal fire burning in the hearth when we got there and a lovely position next to the river and mill pond."
Would happily return and fully recommend it.
-
"What a welcome we received walking into the cottage to find a coal fire burning away and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree."
Set the scene for a few days comfortable stay. Thank you for the effort put into it. The beds were very comfortable, slept extremely well. The cottage is ideally situated with the views outside and plentiful walks on the doorstep.

"Warm, cosy cottage which was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and for walkers an excellent location."
-
"It was a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings."
However we were a party of 4 with 2 cars. Luckily they were not huge vehicles otherwise we would not have been able to park.It was a tight squeeze! I did let the owners know and apparantly there is a space to park if need be. If we had had 2 great 4=4 s were would not have parked by the cottage or anywhere else on the lane. We felt this should be mentioned to other guests whenthey book that there is space. It was a good hol and I am sure we will go again. Gill Beasley

"This is a fantastic cottage in an incredible location."
Highly recommended for all ages - we were 2 adults, a 15month old baby and 60 year old grandmother and everyone had a great time. We stayed for the summer bank holiday weekend, but would have been happy to stay for a week. We were pleasantly surprised by the pond at the end of the garden and the picnic bench with umbrella to enjoy the garden with. It is at the end of a private road so it is very peaceful with no road noise. There are many local guides and leaflets in the house and a folder which has details of the local area including walking routes. We did part of one walk up the hill and to the Victoria and Jubilee caves which was lovely and there was lots of history included in the description of the walk.

"Self-Catering facilities a shambles."
Suggest the owners spend a week there self-catering. Fridge not working on arrival, phoned and the cleaning girl came. Didn't know what was the problem and did something eventually, she nor I know what, and the fridge did come on. Microwave had no instructions and as you know every microwave is different in appearance and operation . There was an instruction book hidden under a lot of other leaflets etc, but it was for a different microwave, presumably the one before this. Dining cutlery and crockery fine but not so the cooking and food preparation equipment. A few examples - kitchen scissors looked like a pair of children's paper-cutting scissors, could hardly get an adult finger and thumb in the holes. There were no fewer than 3 can openers, 2 of which did not work at all and the other did but with some difficulty. Spoons for cooking and/ or serving inadequate, one wooden one with very short handle, one oversized metal one. Fortunately we took ready-cooked main meals with us and ate out half the time. It would have driven me potty trying to prepare food with that equipment. It had the look of things that one no longer wanted in the kitchen at home and the cottage was a dump for them.

"Good. comfortable cottage, surprisingly spacious Absolutely fabulous location - lots of easy to middling walks nearby, with more challenging ones not too far away"

"This was not a 4 star cottage."
It smelled of cigarettes as soon as you walked in. It didn't provide bare bone basics like hand soap, any mini toiletries, no coffee, tea, coffee maker, any basic spices or anything. The decor was very dated (ok this was in the pictures, but it still doesn't make it 4 star). The owner didn't leave any information behind about the WiFi or the local area. Indeed the WiFi didn't even work. The neighbours in the adjacent (cheek by jowl) cottages weren't very friendly - not one greeted us when we were coming/going. Very disappointed - we paid a lot of money for this weekend away!

The property
Langcliffe 0.5 miles. A delightful, old stone-built cottage situated close to the pretty Ribblesdale village of Langcliffe.
Formerly the home of a mill worker, Locks Cottage stands at the end of a small row of traditional Dales cottages and is surrounded by peaceful Dales countryside.
The setting is idyllic - the cottage overlooks an old mill pond and is close to the River Ribble as it winds downstream towards the popular market town of Settle.
The cottage has been modernised, equipped and furnished to a high standard and enjoys lovely views over the garden and mill pond to the trees and hills beyond.
There is excellent walking from the doorstep, not least along the riverbank.
A wonderful base for a peaceful Dales holiday.

LANGCLIFFE
Settle 1 mile; Malham 7 miles.
Langcliffe is a charming Dales village at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Part of the Yorkshire National Park, with its stone cottages clustered around the spacious village green, Langcliffe is tucked away in a backwater, with a beautiful old church, and there is excellent walking in all directions. The Victoria Hall is a Community Centre with music and book fairs, theatrical productions and auctions, plus Settle country market takes place every Tuesday with a farmers’ market each month.
