  • "Lovely and clean house and a welcoming host, the bed is comfortable No sink in the kitchen is unusual but the utility is close by with a sink."

The cottage is on a very busy and noisy road. One criticism is the outside sitting area and car park is not very private and could be made a little more comfortable.

Thank you for your comments,we welcome feedback from our guests. We agree that the layout is a little quirky being a 150 year old gatehouse, but we feel this is part of it's appeal. We do provide cushions for the outdoor seating area, and are open to suggestions on how we can make this more private. Again, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

A perfect winter break. The wood burner made it so cosy and warm. Whalley village is gorgeous and an easy 30 minute walk (footpaths all the way and street lit) the restaurants and wine bars all in east walking distance and regular bus services. Geoff made sure we had everything we needed including fresh milk on arrival. Lovely area, we loved it!

Some lovely places to visit nearby, had the weather not been so awful would have loved to have stayed longer to make the most of these attractions. Would love to go back and definitely recommend to others who need a base in this area.

The gatehouse was very clean and included everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the log burner for the chilly evenings. The bed was extremely comfortable and bedding was hotel quality. The owner was also very helpful and informative. A great place to stay for visiting the Ribble Valley, with lots of walks close by and also because your four-legged friend is made to feel welcome.

  • "We loved staying at the Gatehouse."

The property is beautifully furnished, the bed is super comfortable and the bedding first class. Everything oozes class. The kitchen is very well stocked, and again all appliances first class. They had dog treats to make our Springer welcome too. The log burner is a fantastic addition, especially as the weather changes. We used to live in the Ribble Valley so had a great time visiting old friends and old haunts. The Bay Horse is a real pub (no food), very friendly and a great place to watch the footy. Whalley and Clitheroe have a plethora of fabulous shops, and Skipton market is well worth a visit (try the pork pies!). We cannot recommend the Gatehouse strongly enough, and hope to return next year. Geoff was friendly and helpful. No one could be disappointed with the Gatehouse. Simply spectacular.

  • "We had a wonderful break at The Gatehouse."

Geoff greeted us on arrival to show us around. and explained how everything worked. The cottage is well equipped and has a huge bed which is super comfortable. Beautiful town with two local pubs. The Eagle was more expensive but a lovely outdoor area, and although we did not eat there the menu looked amazing. The Bay Horse is more traditional working man’s pub, but very friendly patrons made us and our dog very welcome. Visited the market Geoff told us about in Clitheroe on the Tuesday- well worth the short trip. Clitheroe itself is a bustling town filled with shops and restaurants. We will definitely return to the area and would love to stay at the Gatehouse again.
