  • "Set back off the village road, I eventually found this quirky bungalow with its large gardens."

Although I have stayed in less dated accommodation, the overall feel of the place was lovely, it was almost like I was staying with a friend. The bed was comfortable, everywhere was clean, & had everything I wanted to come back to after exploring the Lincolnshire countryside. There are shops & pubs not far away, & it is well situated for Boston & Frampton marshes, Lincoln & Skegness less than an hour away, me & Denzel dog had a really relaxed break. David

No cake or milk on arrival as stated in advert as they said they wasn't aware we was arriving thou the chalet was ready and was allowed in early which was nice. Janet is very nice. To make property better blackout curtains in bedroom and a TV would be great. The place is beautiful ground's lovely and quiet would recommend.

It is very quiet, in lovely grounds and as the weather was lovely we could sit outside and enjoy it. It is very close to RSPB Frampton Marsh which is why I booked it. Not much else around without travelling but that's why I booked it. Decor is very old fashioned but again it suited us and was very comfortable. Host was very ameanable without being in your face. It is well equipped and clean, just a bit dated in some parts. It is quite remote and you need a car to get anywhere but that did not cause any problems and there are some lovely places to visit close by.

  • "25 March - 1 April 2023 Initially the accommodation appeared dated and a bit tired but it may be this which led to it feeling a most comfortable, cosy and welcoming place."

Comfortable bed, good reading lights in both sitting room and bedroom. Well equipped kitchen (although solid electric hot plates took some getting used to after an induction hob at home) AND..........a TV which didn't take the mind of an scientist to discover how to change channels! It was unfortunate that my visit was soon after an unsucessful roof repair which, as there was quite a bit of rain, resulted in a wall in the sitting room being damp: I have a keen sense of smell so for me it was the only real downside to this accommodation. Lovely friendly welcome from the owner plus the provision of delicious lemon drizzle cake, milk, coffee & teabags. Close to RSPB Frampton Marsh and RSPB Freiston Shore plus lots to see in Boston (The Stump, Guildhall & Fydell House) although in my opinion the shopping centre was a bit run down. The Village Church Farm in Skegness was also worth visiting. I enjoyed & was very satisfied with my stay at Le Chalet and hope to return again - when the roof is repaired!!

However, I disliked the assumption made in the emails from Sykes that my stay was a holiday, and that I was going to "relax and have a wonderful time". This was a business stay, not pleasure. I think the tone set should be more neutral and informative, and less sycophantic!

Milk in the fridge and cake on the table to greet us. The owner was available if we needed her but otherwise kept to herself. One thing to note is that you can't get the car very close to the cottage so if it's raining hard or you have heavy luggage this could be a problem for some people. We had neither heavy cases nor heavy rain so we were fine. Other than that we loved our stay here and are hoping to come back again next year.

  • "We were made very welcome and the property was comfortable and fairly clean, if a bit dated."

We were frustrated by a very slow filling lavatory cistern and a DVD player that seemed not to work. We were also concerned at the lack of recycling, and felt that some kitchen surfaces and equipment were not as clean as would be desirable given the Covid situation. Information about the area (shops etc) was very basic, and we would have been rather lost without the internet - which was ok.

  • "Our stay at West Wing was comfortable and enabled us to explore the surrounding area."

The accommodation was cosy and well equipped for a self catering stay. There were plenty of cleaning materials/ products provided as well as Towels, Flannels, Soaps and Shower gel plus Hair Dryer in bedroom cupboard. We very much enjoyed the evenings out on the veranda when weather permitted. There is a large flat screen TV in the cosy living room along with some DVD's, Games and Books. RSPB Frampton Marsh very close by and a short drive to Kirton there is a Co op for supplies. It was unfortunate that we did not get to see much of the owners due to the Covid situation. We did feel that with a little modernisation West Wing could offer so much more.

The kitchen was well equipped with all the usual stuff, (the frying pan could do with replacing). We especially loved having the comfortable outdoor chairs to put on the sunny veranda & free access to the huge garden to find shade from the, sometimes, very hot sun. It made for a peaceful break in this manic time of Covid. Having Frampton RSPB reserve on the doorstep was a huge plus which we really enjoyed.

It was lovely to sit either in the lounge or outside and appreciate the birds and squirrels within the garden. Our dog loved the decked area to sit out on and soak up the September sunshine. The choice of bath and shower was lovely and the WiFi was a real bonus. The toiletries and amount of towels couldn’t be faulted, neither could the teabags, coffee, milk and bottles of water left in the kitchen. A couple of suggestions for improvement are more coat hangers in the wardrobe and a hairdryer. A more defined and secure area for a dog would be good as the garden is open plan and shared with the owners. In general it’s a very nice place to have a relaxing break away. We hope to return next year.
