The cottage is comfortable, warm and well equipped. Aran is the most private of the three cottages up a steep bend on the hill. We didn’t use the communal area as had no children but it looked very nice. A very safe place for our dog who loved the freedom outside. Don’t forget a bag of carrots for the donkeys who welcome you every morning. Would recommend to Families and couples. Thankyou Jacqueline

Lovely cottage but it was quite cold when the heating wasn’t on, fire was very welcome! Beds very comfy but the duvet is extremely heavy and quite hard to handle when trying to move around at night, but it did provide the warmth needed! Living room could benefit from more softer lighting and more ornaments and pictures on walls to make it more homely. Softer lighting in dining area to make it more romantic in the evenings! But lovely stay in all, dog loved the size of the outdoor space and the resident donkeys are lovely! Would really suit families.

  • "Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the cottage, plenty of things to do in the local area."

We loved the views and the secluded situation of the cottage. Beds were comfortable, garden was private and our daughter liked the trampoline and swing. We would have liked the cottage to be better stocked with basics such as salt and pepper, clingfilm, binbags, dishwasher salt, toilet paper, sugar for coffee etc as we had to go and buy stuff. Having a bottle of wine on arrival is a nice touch that many other cottages have. Further more, we felt there were too many reminders about picking up dog waste and it got to the point we felt bothered.

  • "This was our 2nd visit to Cyffdy cottages, this time staying in Aran as we thought the larger 2nd bedroom would suit our growing children."

Cottage was lovely and the views were just stunning even with a glimpse of the lake from some windows. Plenty of enclosed outdoor space for our dog to safely wander outside the cottage and a lovely balcony area with outdoor seating to enjoy those magnificent views. Lovely to have the donkeys in the field next to us and they even began to recognise us when we came back after a day out! The grounds of Cyffdy are immaculate and provide a lovely space for the children to have a play. The trampoline and football goal are fab and nice for the children to have a little safe space. There are so many things to do in the surrounding areas to keep you very busy but it was always lovely to come back to our peaceful cottage at the end of the day where we had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. Thank you again, we really didn’t want to go home!

  • "This is one of the nicest holiday homes we've stayed in!"

For three adults and a dog, this home was spacious for all of us. The views were stunning. The kitchen/dining area was used a lot, especially for a Sunday Roast we cooked up. The fireplace was a great addition but the home's heating system was enough for us in the first place. The bedrooms were spacious with radiators, and also come with a separate electric heater that does wonders. The bathroom/shower facilities were even better than our own home! In terms of what to do around the area, there were National Parks, Forests, and Bala, and it's also fairly close to Barmouth and an hour's drive to Llandudno. We were lucky with the weather, which is why we got to do so many things. However, in the summer, there would be a lot more out there available for you to do. Overall, we would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a short stay in the North of Wales.

  • "Fantastic cottage with brilliant views."

No issues with the cottage. However the heating was on a timer and was off most of the day. It was freezing cold outside and cold inside. Especially as we were snowed in for 2 days so just sat inside. I really think that if a property is offered in the middle of winter it should NOT have restricted heating. The very steep drive was only gritted the evening before we left. I also think the owners should supply more logs for the burner as we ran out very quickly.

Hi, we appreciate your feedback. However we were not contacted at all in regards to any of the above issues. We are more than happy to amend the heating times for guests which we do regularly. If you had got in touch and advised us of this we could have extended the heating hours. The bedrooms in the cottage also have electric heaters which can be put on at anytime. We are not able to give guests full control of the heating as it is set on the boiler which we cant give access to due to health and safety. With regards to the logs we supply enough to get a fire going and keep it going for the first night, the guests will then need to purchase more for the duration of their stay. If you had also contacted us about being snowed in we could have gritted sooner. We are always on hand to help in any situation and all guests have our contact details. Property Owner

It was a bit cold though, the heating came on too early (and woke us up) and went off too early. It got cold really quickly. We did not feel we could spend a day in....unless we spent a fortune on logs for the wood burner. We did not always want to light a fire if we were going out again sooner rather than later. However this is not a deal breaker and we will return again but in the summer if there is availability as we loved it so much. Another tip is for a bigger mirror to be installed in the main bedroom...trying to use the hair dryer/make-up with such a small mirror was not easy...but again not a deal breaker it would just make things easier. Otherwise loved it here and didn't want to leave.

  • "Excellent location, lovely views, hosts were fine."

It would help if they could provide more cuttlery and crockery. It is a cottage for 4 people and we were provided with 4 forks, 5 spoons and 4 dinner plates. Reminded me of my uni days living in a hostel! Rani

We were very sorry that you felt your stay in the Aran cottage did not meet expectations. There was a big list of things you wanted changed and supplied, which we did our upmost to accommodate and you gave the impression that you were more than happy with the service you had recieved and told us that you would definitely be coming back, however, after reading your scores and comments I feel very disappointed because we do not know what else we could have possibly done to make your experience here happier. Cyffdy Cottages is a small family run business and we pride ourselves on the accuracy and cleanliness of each cottage and maintain the highest possible standards for each and every guest that comes to stay, once again, looking at your scores and comments we can only apologise for not succeeding in providing you with the level of accuracy and cleanliness you expected. We have looked at all your scores and comments in detail and where we feel we can make positive changes, we will certainly do so.Thank you Property Owner

  • "Not able to let our dog off his lead in the garden as there is post and rail fence which most dogs would be able to access."

The field the other side has grazing sheep. Could have been easily made a dog freindly area if they had put some stock or chicken wire along the bottom. Then the property woild be dog freindly ( more enjoyable ). Could not have patio doors open unless the dog was on the lead. Maybe a bit more thought by the owners!

  • "The cottage was very comfortable and in a lovely position with views of the countryside."

The only downside was that the garden wasn't secure enough to let our dog outside without supervision. Having said that I would certainly recommend this cottage.
