  • "We are just back from The Stable and very happy with our little holiday."

I booked the stable for 4 nights for myself my husband and two friends for a belated birthday celebration. There was plenty of parking, and the stable was warm and cosy. The garden is completely secure so our two dogs could play and zoomie to their hearts content. Beautiful scenery of rolling countryside which you can access from your back garden. We walked through the farm straight into a national trust walk with Cafe. We carried on and walked around Aberaeron and back which was seven miles round trip. The dogs slept for hours while we played table tennis and pool in the games room then enjoyed an hour in the hot tub. Perfect location and perfect hosting by Katy who is an absolute diamond. She is the one who makes your stay go smoothly with the help of Jamie who can fix and find anything. Great place to stay

The only sounds were the animals &children's laughter. The staff are so welcoming & helpful, nothing was too much to ask of them. It's ideally situated to explore the beautiful seaside towns of Aberaeron, New quay & the surrounding area etc. The Stable was spotless & the bedding too, the beds were comfortable & the games room is an added bonus for the unpredictable British weather. The hot tub was a huge hit with the children & this was maintained throughout our stay. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so unforgettable. Diolch

  • "We have just come home from a wonderful family holiday in the Stable."

We chose the Stable because of the fenced in garden for our twin toddler boys and our 2 dogs, we also loved the sound of the hot tub. It was perfect for us all. The garden was great, the boys loved riding their bikes up and down the slope, it was very safe and secure for our boys and dogs to have freedom to run and play. Inside the house was very tidy, it had everything we needed to make home cooked meals, comfortable beds, a lovely big bath and powerful shower. Other facilities… Our boys are too young for the games room, however, it looked like fun for if we come back for future holidays, the washing machine and tumble dryer were a massive bonus, we came home with no washing to do, ‘Happy Mummy!’ The boys loved the climbing frame and slide, it was perfect for them. The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, after putting the boys to bed, my husband and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub with stunning views of rolling Welsh hills. We made friends with the cows in the field outside, the boys loved running out to see them every morning, and watching them from the window as we ate. The owners of the cottage were very warm and welcoming, they had lots of information for great places to take the children. We loved Aberporth beach, there is 2 beaches in Aberporth, one which is dog friendly. New Quay was also beautiful, we enjoyed walking along the harbour, seeing all the boats, and enjoying a delicious ice cream. We loved the Moody Cow, with a brilliant indoor and outdoor play area for the children to burn off some steam, and a delicious farm shop. There was also a lovely looking restaurant, but we didn’t have a chance to try it out. We had a fun afternoon in Borth. A beautiful little seaside town. We enjoyed fish and chips in the Sands cafe, then walked a 15 minute walk to a small place to enjoy feeding goats, seeing rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, pigs, tortoises and many more animals, with 2 fun climbing frames our boys loved! It was a really fun afternoon. The area is very quiet, safe and idyllic. We were sad our holiday has come to an end, could have happily stayed another week, we have come home and already looking at dates to rebook in the future.

The owners were so welcoming, kind and helpful (even with our extremely late arrival). The accommodation was lovely and really nice quality. We spent hours in both the games room and hot tub…. Both an amazing addition. The laundry room was very helpful if you have a football mad youngster with you (who absolutely loved the goal and mini football pitch out the back). This accommodation really had so many added extras for us that it made it our best holiday to date…. That coupled with the incredible local beauty, breath taking scenery and abundance of wildlife. We were in our element. Hope we can visit again soon.

The hot tub and garden were amazing for the kids and the dog. The cottage has all the basics but bring anything else such as oil, salt, pepper which you may not have thought of like us. • "The property was very nice, pretty much exactly as advertised, with maybe a couple exceptions (not being anything to do with the aesthetic of the property) the kitchen could have done with a couple more basic essentials, instructions say bring tea towels which we brought along with couple of additions for making our own food but then had to go shopping for tin foil/salt/pepper and oven gloves."

(This wasn’t a massive issue as we were going into a nearby town next day for a walk). We also had to buy toilet roll as there was only half a roll in the bathroom not really enough for a couple over a long weekend (at least one more would have been ideal). On the plus side, they had said that towels for the hot tub were not provided but we had two towels each which was nice even though we had brought our own. There could have been a little more contact with our hosts, (though I guess as we’re on holiday they just wanna stay out of our way?). We weren’t greeted on arrival but we did get there for about 7pm so that’s understandable. Though a hello the next morning wouldn’t have gone amiss. Especially since there was a power cut and we had no idea who to go see about it and knocked on a couple of other doors before finding where the hosts lived. The power cut happened about 9:30, as we couldn’t find our hosts we went about our day hoping power would come back on in the day and the stuff in the fridge/freezer would be safe this wasn’t the case so when we returned about 5/6pm I went looking for them. (If there hadn’t have been a power cut this wouldn’t have been an issue but we did feel someone could have knocked our door or left a note or some kind of communication). As far as facilities go everything else was on point except for the fact that the internet wasn’t very fast (again not really an issue as there was a cornucopia of dvds in the games room across from the cottage) again a note about this would have meant we’d have prepared by downloading things before arrival for our evening entertainment. (There’s only so much hot tubbing one can do of an evening

Stunning views out on to the Welsh countryside. The road to the cottage was very bumpy, so not suitable if you have a lowered vehicle. But it’s worth it for the remote location. That said you are only 10mins drive into the beautiful Aberaeron. Cottage was well equipped with full kitchen. Floors & stairs were a little creaky but only as you’d expect from a cottage. The owners live on site and we’re very friendly when we bumped into them. The hotub was easy to use and situated perfectly to allow you to take in the views. If you are visiting in the colder months, don’t worry about being cold as the heating system was amazing, with rooms heating up almost instantly! The shower was very powerful and lovely & hot. The garden was fully enclosed so perfect for our dog. If you like craft beer make sure you check out Y Bryn - a brewery pub about 20mins drive from the cottage. Well worth the trip.

Rolling hills and cows coming right up to the garden fence. There are lovely walks right from the doorstep - The owners invited us to watch the cows being milked and meet their newborn calves. The children loved this and the owners spent lots of time with us and made it a great experience. -the hot tub is a fab addition. It was clean and the owners checked the water every morning. Views from hot tub are awesome. -the shared playground was great for our children. Very safe and they loved it. - our umbrella broke and they got us a new one straight away. We also expected a gas bbq but it was a coal one. They swapped it for us straight away! A few little improvements -Check in 3pm. We arrived at 4pm but was told cottage would not be ready until 5pm due to extra cleaning. Totally understand this but 5pm is too late and Sykes should have contacted us to make us aware. - the living room and kitchen is on first floor and it was difficult keeping our toddler away from the stairs. We put the sofa in front of it but a stair gate would have been a big help. -one of the lights in the kitchen was broken and there was another little light wired up strangely. Assuming their is an electrical issue with the light. It was a little dark in there so a big lamp is needed. -the games room isn’t great. It’s very old and needs a revamp. Each is superbly presented and equipped, whilst still retaining many charming character features including open beams and stone walls. You may wish to spend the whole of your holiday here enjoying the private fishing ponds, fresh eggs and homegrown vegetables from the farm, along with the resident chickens and sheep, but from the doorstep you can also walk down to, and along, the River Aeron, join country cycling routes (the properties are part of the Walkers and Cyclists Welcome schemes), or just relax and enjoy watching the Red Kites and other wild birds overhead. Short drives to Cardigan to the south, or Aberystwyth to the north offer more shops, craft centres, museums and cinema or theatre visits. A wonderful Mid Wales location all year round.
