  • "Absolutely loved our stay."

Maesgwyn exceeded our expectations. Clean, tidy and perfectly prepared for our short stay. Great communication with the owners prior to us arriving and with clear instructions on how to get there (it is a little isolated). We couldn't have wished for more.

Well equipped kitchen. The owners were extremely helpful supplying us with potatoes when Tesco let us down on the delivery. That was the only issue we had all weekend and would definitely come back

  • "Fabulous house and its location was amazing."

Can't fault the hot tub whatever the weather. Glorious fire and the owners were so quick delivering more firewood when we needed it. Plenty of room for 6 adults, 3 children and a dog. Lovely treats left by the owners too. My only gripe was that the main bed mattress was rather uncomfortable but I'm probably a bit picky! Would definitely go again. We all had a fabulous time despite all the rain we had.

Outside cushions were left out and wet so we could nt use. We did try to dry but the were soaked on our arrival. No wardrobe/hanging rail in master b-room. Shower cubical in family bathroom very small and plenty of space to put a larger one in. Appreciate it’s a working farm but the level of flies even though doors were only opened when entering/exiting. Windows were not opened at sll. Door Screens would benefit highly. Unpleasant smell in snug. Could nt watch TV as signal poor. Info was excellent about local area and walks. Overall a good weekend away with joint families, playing games of an evening around the large family kitchen table.

The house was very clean and tidy and certainly had some history about it. The kitchen was well equipped and great for socialising and the kids enjoyed the 'snug' for watching films in peace. We didn't light the fire as the property was so warm with the central heating. Everyone slept well, a very quiet place at night. Kids made good use of the hot tub.

It is worth remembering you will be a distance from the nearest supermarket so just plan ahead. The farmhouse is very well appointed with lots of room for a large group. The hot tub is a pleasure and is well maintained by the owners. Deer in the lane, rabbits on the drive and loads of bird life make it a great stay for nature lovers. The owners are on hand if needed but are very discreet. They face us excellent advise. Good walking and cycling from the door. Visit the Radnorshire Arms for Sunday lunch. It is amazing. Make sure you book. Overall Maesgwyn is a lovely place to stay.

  • "We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday at Maesgwyn."

The location is wonderful and being in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. The house was clean and welcoming, especially the flowers, milk, fresh eggs and Prosecco, a nice little touch. Lin and James were very welcoming and quick to help on a problem we had with the heating, which was down to pilot error, not the house. We can highly recommend staying here if you want to get away from it all. We do plan to return sometime in the future.

  • "The cottage is large and spacious, great for a family meet up."

The hot tub is fantastic and very convenient positioned in a secluded area with views of the mountains and stars. The road to the cottage is a dirt track, be aware if you are driving a sports car or something low to the ground. Also we did not pick up on the fact that there are two other holiday lets next door, the bathroom window faces the hot tub of one of the other lets, make sure you draw the curtains as you can see in. The house is very clean and looks as though it has been recently refurbished. I would recommend this property and would visit again. There are a couple of things that require attention, such as the dish washer needs a service, the wood burner needs a refurb and some new pans would be useful. It would be nice to have a radio or music system in the kitchen too.

The directions and instructions to get access were spot on. The cottage was immaculate, the bed sheets smelled amazing and the owners had left a beautiful hand written welcome note. The facilities were amazing, the fresh flowers, eggs, milk, tea, coffee and prossecco were a much appreciated welcome, and the view was outstanding. We went for a break, and wanted to stay at the cottage to unwind, which is exactly what we did, I can't comment on anything nearby, as we didn't venture out. There is wifi but our ability to access this was limited, perhaps this was due to the weather. On behalf of all in our group, thank you so much.

The hot tub is a bonus and looks out over the lovely scenery whilst being discrete, The lodge also has good walking routes for able and non able individuals making this a very enjoyable location. the drive to the cottage leaves you in anticipation as you meander down the tight country lanes ( just keep an eye out for the local tractors ) :-) Brilliant holiday and looking forward to booking this again next year

There is not much nearby, so best to be organised by either arranging an online shop delivery, or bring your own supplies. We did a lovely walk to Beguildy recommended by the cottage, about 8 miles. The hot tub was great, especially paired with a BBQ on the terrace (don't forget some charcoal!). The beds were comfy and linen all clean and fresh. The main bathroom is huge! There are nice old features such as exposed beams and 2 reception rooms, the main one with a lovely big wood burner. The kitchen is a nice communal space big enough for 10 adults to sit and eat very comfortably. Lin, the host, was very helpful and made the trip seamless, yet left us to it - a perfect weekend, thank you.

  • "The property is a home from home."

When we walked in everything was fresh and clean. The drive from the main road is a country track but hardly any traffic so not a problem. The views are brilliant and it is very tranquil. Easy walks close by for even the laziest of walkers! Plenty of places to visit within a 40 minute drive. We were there with children and grandchildren aged 1 to 12. All enjoyed our visit to the small animal and owl centre, where you can take a picnic or buy food. The gift shop was reasonably priced too. Elan valley was great- the dams spectacular, a variety of walks, activities to try and a great children's play area. Ludlow is also a good town to visit with a castle and market. On the way there is a great cafe and farm shop. You can also find a Tesco and Aldi on this route to top up supplies. I would recommend that you take a couple of days food with you to start off with. If you come from the north the best route is to follow the A483 to Newtown and then the instructions given by Sykes. Lin the owner is more than happy to help in any way and had left eggs, milk, prosecco and flowers to welcome us. We had a lovely time.

  • "We could tell that the cottage had been lovely and the location was certainly very peaceful."

However, every single dish had to be washed before use as they were covered in grease. We soon found out why; the dishwasher did not clean the dishes even though it was used according to the instructions left. The dishes were washed by hand for the remainder of our holiday. We found that the cottage, although lovely, had lots of general maintenance issues which, while did not ruin the holiday, were unexpected for the price paid. It was really nice of the owner to leave a bottle of prosseco and flowers for us, a really unexpected treat which we appreciated. The hot tub was a big hit also. Unfortunately, I don’t foresee myself or my family returning.

The cottage is beautifully isolated and in the midst of magnificent countryside - just what we needed to charge our batteries! Lynn and her husband were charming and couldn't be more helpful. The cottage itself was really cosy and comfortable and our grandchildren in particular loved the snug. The whole place was well equipped and certainly home from home, while the hot tub and log fire were a bonus and much appreciated. Despite its isolation, the cottage made an excellent base to explore mid Wales, Herefordshire and Shropshire and we visited several brilliant castles - all within an hour's travelling distance and well worth the drive. Our only criticisms are that the freezer could be a bit bigger and we feel that a telephone (pay as you go?) is really necessary as we could not get any mobile reception whatsoever, which would have posed a problem if anyone in the party (particularly elderly people) had become ill, since the nearest main town (Knighton) is half an hour's distance from the cottage. Overall, though, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone - particulary those looking for accommodation for a large party (10 max)
