  • "A real home from home."

Really comfortable and well equipped The only thing I think is worth mentioning that it is not really suitable for people with limited mobility, which my wife has but we managed and will be returning.

  • "The cottage is well situated for the coastal road."

Large and comfortable. Tumble dryer and freezer was an added bonus. Shower was very powerful which was great. WiFi was an issue when trying to find out where we wanted to go but I believe this was due to being in a dip. We chose the location for its location of coast and closeness to friends and this was perfect

  • "Lovely comfortable and warm cottage with everything you will need during your stay."

The garden is great with a lawned area, stone pathways around the mature shrubs and a patio area with a table and chairs. There is a little bridge over the stream then a gate, the stream is not accessible as it is not part of Darwen Villa's garden. We had a food delivery the first night we got there and they found us easily enough. There were only two of us and we found that the Wifi was okay for emails, internet access and Whatsapp connection.

Very well equipped and everything you could need. Clear instructions from the owner before arrival. As informed beforehand we booked, no mobile signal and weak WiFi but that was expected and meant we got our teenage daughter playing cards of an evening rather than staring at her tablet

  • "A beautiful, comfortable, well equipped cottage with a nice mature garden in a lovely quiet village with awesome countryside."

The only negative was the speed and reliability of the internet connectivity, but BT were in the village during our stay upgrading the network so that probably didn't help at the time.

  • "Lovely cottage in a quiet location."

Clean and comfortable with good facilities. The garden with the stream is a relaxing place to sit in the sun. A good base for exploring the fantastic Ceridigion coastline and countryside, loads of great beaches in easy reach. Some people have complained about the wifi but no mobile signal and weak wifi meant our boys couldn't spend all day streaming netflix or youtube so it's a good thing. It's fine for twitter and emails etc.

  • "We had a lovely week, the villa is really well equipped and clean and the garden is gorgeous!"

The issue for us was the lack of wi fi, coupled with no phone signal at all, most of the week you couldn't access the internet, and even when you could it froze. I understand it's not an issue for everyone but we had a 15 and 12 year old with us and I wouldn't have booked this property had I known. In the welcome information this issue is raised, but it would be helpful to know on booking. I did see the village is maybe getting better connected so this may change! That aside, it's a beautiful place, Ann was really helpful and we enjoyed our stay in this fabulous part of Wales.

  • "Derwen Villa should be an aspiration for others to follow, from the owner who was the first ever to supply information and advice regarding the property before our stay, to the personal touches the property offered and superb accommodation."

There was nothing we lacked in the property and we have always when staying in holiday property taken various items for use in the kitchen, but on this occasion it was totally unnecessary when all the kitchen equipment was exemplary. The furnishing and decoration would easily allow any visitor to imagine this was a permanent home of someone who clearly takes a pride in their property and not a holiday rental. I highly recommend Derwen Villa and thank the owner for taking a personal interest in the comfort and enjoyment of the guests who stay in this property and in this beautiful part of Wales.

The kitchen lioved cooking in it the garden is beautiful. To be fair the furniture was like going back to my manna’s home she would have lived the villa as it was her taste. The drinks fridge fabulous. There is a wee fridge magnet on freezer which sums up villa and it’s ethos perfectly.....

  • "Derwen Villa is in a lovely quiet location and met the entire families needs (my 2 sons, my daughter, daughter in law and 9 month old grandson)."

It is really comfortable and has all the amenities we needed. Although in a quiet location, it is only 6 miles from both Newquay and Aberaeron and around 5 miles from the sandy beach of Cei Bach. The pub in the village (Gilfach Inn) is just a 5 minute walk and is very welcoming and if you have the weather as we did, it's a lovely quiet sun trap. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

  • "Everything!"

Derwen Villa was lovely; cosy but spacious, extremely comfortable, very clean and really well equipped. Could have stayed forever! The whole family loved it and if we visit this part of Wales again would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again. The only down side, if there has to be one, is the lack of public footpaths close by but everything else about the cottage and surrounding area was great. We stayed for a week and found plenty of places to visit from Cardigan to Aberystwyth. Will certainly look to book through Sykes Holiday Cottages again in future.

  • "The cottage was like staying at your granny's house, very old fashioned."

It was very cluttered untidy and not clean. Far too many personal items for a holiday let. Both house and garden needs some TLC. The patio needed a good sweep and the garden was very overgrown. The cottage is situated in a village where there is nothing to do. Was especially disappointed there were no local dog walks from the door step. The internet signal was poor or non existent, and there is no mobile phone signal so keeping in touch is difficult. Would definitely not return to this property!! :-(

It really has become our favourite home from home, with absolutely everything you are ever likely to need. The roaring log fire is such a treat after chilly Easter walks on the beach and the huge farmhouse kitchen is filled with everything we needed to make family meals after days out exploring the seasIde town of New Quay and the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron. Belle, our Labrador, loves it too! The large secure garden is just perfect for her. We plan to return again later in the year. Would highly recommend.
