  • "This is the second time we have stayed at The Dingle."

Last time we were very critical of the cleanliness and state as it was very poor. Because of its location and size we decided to try again. Either the cleaners have changed or told to clean properly because this time it felt immediately much cleaner and tidier. Gone is the piano and general stuff so it all felt much better and cleaner. There is now plenty of cleaning equipment and a full set of towels each. The welcome pack is very good. It is an old house so some things will not change but the beds are very comfortable and the heating and water great . Going forward the lampshades for the side lamps need replacing they are falling apart and a bit dangerous and the sofa bed as I pointed out last time is very very uncomfortable. The dining room chairs are absolutely uncomfortable, its like sitting on a plank of wood. The oven is still dirty but the kitchen equipment and pantry have been sorted and are tidy and clean. We had a great week and have booked a third holiday and hoping for the owner to address some of these issues. Perhaps the cleaners should check the mattress covers as ours had blood stains obviously not changed from previous occupants and that's the cleaners responsibility. None of the issues would deter us from returning again.

  • "A very comfortable holiday home."

It was perfect for our extended family. It was useful to have the 4 point extension leads as there were very few power points. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come again.

  • "We booked The Dingle via Sykes and I had read previous reviews about the property not being clean so I was a little apprehensive before we arrived."

The description on the website said street parking on a first come first served basis but when we arrived we found we could fit a Vauxhall Corsa on the short driveway (if the passengers got out first) and we left another vehicle on the white no parking line across the drive with no issues. The period property has its original fireplaces and is furnished with traditional decor, I actually love this style but I can understand why some have described it as dated. Whilst the property had been cleaned there were significant cobwebs throughout. There was a welcome tray on arrival which was greatly appreciated after a long journey. The weather was beautiful so we moved chairs from the dining room into the conservatory for the 8 of us to be in a light airy space looking out on the garden each evening rather than the traditional lounge. The beds were really comfy and I cooked two meals for 8 people during our stay with no issues, a wok or larger frying pan would have made it slightly easier (I didn’t find all the cleaning equipment in the drawer under the kitchen sink until the 3rd day). We had a couple of BBQs using disposable trays, a bbq stand would have been useful and we would have liked some wine flutes for fizz and pint glasses rather than the selection of sherry glasses that are available. We are 3 generations of the same family so the fact that the only upstairs bathroom is en-suite through the master didn’t matter to us as we are used to the kids walking in, maybe an issue for multiple families staying together. The beds were really comfy, linen (seaside themed) and towels were clean. Each bedroom had a fan and there were a couple of extension leads as overall there seems to be a lack of sockets (to charge the kids tech and for bedside lamps). What sets this property apart is its location to the beach, town centre and promenade - all an easy walk - so once you arrive you don’t need to use your car again. The 3.30pm check in and 10.30am check out were perfect for us and there was no overnight noise. The bins were emptied over Tuesday and Wednesday as we had moved the car from the drive. A point to note is that there is currently an issue with the plumbing, the kitchen hot tab has a significant trickle and when the downstairs toilet is flushed the kitchen tap vibrates with a loud noise, we wedged a plastic cup under it to slow the drip and prevent the noise but long term it will require a plumber to investigate. Also the garden is not secure, our dog had to stay on his lead whilst in the garden, the gates don’t shut if the car is on the drive but also there appears to be some waste land to the left of the property that is not fenced off. In an ideal world the garden could be split to form a fenced rear garden that runs from the outer edge of the second sitting room to the outer edge of the conservatory using the rear brick wall to form a secure area that includes the patio for children and a dog to play in, particularly if eating outside. The rotary clothes dryer in the side garden kept falling over, we wedged it whilst drying towels but this also needs some attention. Some of the internal doors could benefit from a spray of wd40 on the hinges as they creak - all adds character but would wake a sleeping baby. Overall we had an excellent holiday, we would love to stay again in the future. None of the issues mentioned would deter us from staying again.

It is a lovely cottage with enough rooms that we all find space of our own if needed ( 9 of us altogether) . The only problem I have is that its not cleaned very well my autistic son lost a toy and while looking for it I had to move the sofa and other bits of furniture and the amount of rubbish , food and cutlery there was unbelievable looked like it had been there for months. But we are looking at going back again has hopefully this problem can be sorted by the owner .

However I have to agree with the previous family regarding the the cleanliness of the house .The cleaners are obviously doing the absolute basics .We didn’t cook anything in the house we were put off by the cooking and crockery etc .Someone needs to invest in some new equipment even new cheap would be worth it .There are cobwebs all over it wouldn’t take much to-get rid of those, absolutely disgraceful cleaning I’ve been a cleaner in houses and .the standard is appalling the owner is getting ripped off .The sofas in the living room are very grubby and uncomfortable anyone wit mobility’s issues would struggle to get up one sat down .As I said we would definitely go back but if you are looking for a little luxury this is definitely not for you .Such a shame because.it could be made lovely .

  • "Firstly we had a fantastic week regardless of the items i am going to come too."

We are an extended family of 7 and The Dingle vey comfortably accomodated us. The beds are very comfortable and the sofas ( you need new photos as they are so dated in the advertising) and arm chairs. Having 2 sitting rooms was fantastic although the sofa bed is way past its sell by date. The dining room sat all seven of us and there are plenty of dining chairs even though some are very ancient and need replacing. The garden was lovely, well kept and very private and secure. Parking was much better than we thought, we had a small car in the drive, one across the drive on the white line and one in a space up the road. It worked very well for us. Having the great large porch at the front was brilliant so we could have shoes and coats there to stop sand going inside. The layout MUST be better explained, the lovely downstairs bedroom can use the toilet and shower room downstairs but upstairs the ensuite bathroom is only accessed by that room, so those rooms need to use downstairs if not the same families. The welcome pack was excellent and full. The showers are great, plenty of hot water and great pressure. The heating new and efficient although works very well it needs better explaining and it is very hit and miss. Sykes have advertised a full set of towels, thats a bit misleading as there is only 1 bath towel per person, no hand towels at all and only 2 tea towels for a whole week. There needs to be hand towels. The overiding great thing about The Dingle is the fantastic location, 2 mins from the beach and 2 mins from Cromer but still very quiet. Going forwards and trying to be constructive we totally realise that this has been a family home and is old and with that comes things that are given but overidingly the property was dirty, very dirty and in plaes much worse that that. I have no idea what the cleaning companies remit is but on arrival the upstairs toilet was not flushed, the kitchen was imo very dirty, all the crockery we used, pans , cutlery dishes we put through the dishwasher ( very efficient) and the mugs were grubby. The sink, floor were dirty and the pantry had dustpans in dishes, paint and brushes rubbish and dirt everywhere. We pulled the sofa out to retrieve something, I cant go there is was awful. Upstairs there were wrappers not cleaned up, an old plaster in the shower room, cobwebs and dust everywhere. The next people will have lovely clean crockery. The oven was tbh honest filthy and the seal is still broken. There was absolutely NO CLEANING equipment, nothing and it isn't acceptable to clean something as we did when there is a huge cost to this week and we are on holiday. Personally the cleaning company to not much. The tins for cooking are only fit for the bin as is a lot of the unuseable cutlery. There was however a lot of tins, dishes and crockery that could be used IF it was clean. Broken piano stool in 2nd living room. Weeds in the conservatory. Lamps that the linings have disintergrated. No measuring jug. Leaking tap still. Very sharp catch on toilet door just at child eye level, , fridge lower shelf in door broken, sink in kitchen very stained. We had a leak in the roof in the 2nd sitting room which we reported along with the other issues we felt were really not acceptable and i did send photos. Tbh we always make the best of our holiday and we had such a great time regardless of the cleaning issues. We just felt the owner should know whats going on as The Dingle just needs a massive deep clean and a really good sort out off the rubbish and disfunctional things because this cottage/house is such a little tresure and could be just fantastic and Im guessing the owner perhaps doesn't know the extent of how much needs doing but something that is easily solved.

The picture on the website needs to be replaced by a better one, which will sell the property. People can be put off by the photo. Need to clearly indicate the layout of the property, especially that the upstairs toilet can be only used by the couple in that room (someone else will not cross the whole room, from near their bed) to go to toilet. Therefore 4 of us had to use the WC/Bathroom downstairs. If there are parents & children then it is OK, but as we were 3 separate couples (not from 1 household), it was not suitable. It would help to have couple of extra toilet rolls. Thanks for all the goodies including milk. Very good location. Would come back.

A visitor at Christmas (sorry can't remember the name was the best. It is not new - the property is over 100 years old! It has been updated, and is comfortable. All the mattresses were new. We did experience a maintenance issue, a blocked bath drain and a dripping tap, which we reported to Celeste, the owner. A workman arrived within 24 hours and you can't ask for more than that. (The repair took somewhat longer - but that is a long story and does not reflect on either the property or Celeste) It is also possible to park a small car (Toyota Prius fits) on the drive, which was a plus. It is suggested by a previous visitor you can park on the white markings across the drive. We did not put this to the test, given the Highway Code says different! The properties top billing is direct access (2 - 3 minute walk) to the dog friendly part of Cromer beach. The walk to town is just as quick. A great property to choose if you have children. We happily recommend it and would visit again.

Because the house is comfortable rather than pristene, it was relaxing with our four teenagers. We really appreciated the two sitting rooms with TV and the good wifi. The beds were comfortable. The bedding was new and cheerful. The house was mainly clean. The paintwork was in good condition, it looks like it's been recently renewed. The kitchen units and appliances are fairly new and all work. There is plenty of crockery for a large group. We appreciated the milk, tea and coffee on arrival. There's no guest book so I thought I would let you know about a few minor issues that need remedying. No bulb in side light in main sitting room Broken door handle on inside of ground floor bedroom Conservatory door misaligned with frame and needs adjusting No airer to dry clothes indoors. Ensuite shower head very poor water stream Ensuite toilet needs new cistern seal as it sometimes constantly refills JVC television in main sitting room has damage to display, a stripe across the screen Piano needs tuning Toilet door has a sharp metal edge by catch which catches clothing and could cut you Missing lightbulb in single bedroom Toilet seat unstable Main oven needs servicing, it does not cook food in time given on packaging, not hot enough Clothes line in garden needs stabilising Garden would benefit from a gardener, some rubbish in edges, dead leaves etc Garden furniture needs cleaning Information file would benefit from more local information Bedrooms very hot in summer, each would benefit from a fan. There are only two teaspoons! The large cupboard in the dining rooms needs sorting out, it's fascinating but we are not sure the owner intended to leave personal effects. We couldn't find a broom, it would have been useful to sweep up sand.

If you go expecting that you will be disappointed. What you will find is a property that feels like a home. Yes some of it is a bit tired but that only adds to the charm. 3 minutes from the beach 5 minutes from town the location is perfect. We had a couple of issues on arrival but text to the owner and all sorted within an hour. The property gives you the space for a large gathering and in the summer the garden would be fantastic. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend and stay again.

! I have never been anywhere so shabby and grimey. The washing up bowl needs to be thrown away, every door handle and door in the whole place needs washing down, every skirting board is covered with dust and fluff, which must have taken months/years to get that bad. The sofa's are only fit for the tip!! Every mirror had been wipes with a wet cloth, so are smeared. The picture over the room we were in on the ground floor has mould on it as to most window frames, which also all need cleaning. The garden is not secure for dogs, so each time they needs to go out we had to take them on leads, also the house maybe dog friendly, but it smelt of dog, my house never smells of dog, and I have two!! We made the best if it as we were there with our son, daughter-in-law and two of our grandsons to celebrate our sons 40th birthday, but never again !!

Fortnightly collection of the refuse bins - both recycling and non recycling. When we arrived for our holiday the recycling bin was full which meant that we had 4 days of recycling waste so that when it was collected it was overflowing on the Wednesday. The non recycling waste was already half full when we arrived which meant that at the end of our holiday the bin was overflowing and this was not due to be emptied for another 4 days. We felt extremely sorry for the families that were due to arrive on Saturday. Hopefully the cleaning company did something to remedy this before the new arrivals. In our opinion because of the size of the accommodation the bins are completely inadequate. 2. Bed linen, pillows and duvets need replacing and updating (better quality of bed linen - all very tired). I also do not consider two tea towels sufficient - at home I would use one per day. 3. On departure my daughter stripped the bed linen in the ensuite room and noticed that the sheet was in fact stained/soiled. Had we have noticed this at the start of the holiday we would have alerted the cleaning company. On a positive point, the location was excellent and generally the accommodation was spacious and comfortable.

There are a few things that could be improved to make the stays of future clients more enjoyable. The description of the house was a bit misleading in regards to the bedroom layout. It needs to be made clear that the only bathroom/toilet facility upstairs is an en-suite meaning that the occupants of the other two upstairs bedrooms need to go downstairs for the shower and toilet. The overall cleanliness of the property could be improved. There was a lot of dust and whilst the floors in the kitchen and conservatory had been hoovered when I wiped up some spilt water it became obvious they were very dirty. Some of the interior doors didn’t shut properly or were very difficult to open once shut. The garden could be a very lovely place to relax on a sunny day but it was very messy with uncut grass and lots of weeds. We did enjoy our stay at the Dingle and with a bit of care and attention to detail all the above are easily rectified and could make this a perfect holiday destination.
