  • "The cottage was a lovely little place."

The photos on line were different of the furniture in the lounge.a couple of little things the lights in the lounge keep flickering.the lights above the dinning table flash go off back on the flash and go off again.then sometimes they stay on..The bed is noisey when you move ,the toilet seat upstairs keeps coming off and the one down stairs moves.the hot tap in the down stairs drips. And could do with some oven clothes as had to use tea towels and burnt my hands a couple of times.but overall we had a loveky break away and the dogs enjoyed themselves we would definitely go back again to this cottage again

Hi Many thanks for your feedback, we are working hard to get the cottage back to its A ratings after a few setbacks over the last couple of months. I'm reaching out to just let you know a couple of bits in response to your review. For some reason the bulbs used a week or so ago to replace dead ones are not the right ones, we are changing them to dimmable ones that will stop the annoying flickering. We replaced the sofa (in the pictures) in the spring after it was damaged by a guest. Sykes didn't feel it necessary to do new pictures, although we had asked them. We will be replacing the sofa again, as well as the bed in a couple of weeks and will insist that sykes do a new set of photos. The doors on the bedroom cupboard will also be replaced at that point. The toilet seats will be looked at, as well as the taps. There should have been some oven gloves in the 2nd drawer and will replace them immediately. A new runner should be in the hallway this week, if not there already. Finally we are going to change the flooring in the courtyard with a resin bonded gravel so we don't suffer from weeds coming up and it looks smarter. We very much hope that these upgrades get us back to where we aspire to be, as we love Hideaway Cottage and want it to be viewed by guests in a positive light. I very much hope that we will see you again next year. Best regards Andy Inman Property Owner

  • "Lovely little holiday home, location was perfect for us as I am recovering from surgery and couldn't go far so having everything so close was amazing."

The cottage had everything you needed and the caretaker (Stacey) was amazing sorting out the WiFi which wasn't working (we wouldn't have bothered but as we couldn't go far it was important to be able to access this for us). The only problems that we found were that the settee wasn't very comfortable (again probably because we couldn't do much and therefore had to stay in for longer than normal) and the shower wasn't very powerful. On the whole we had a good rest which was just what the Dr ordered!

Thank you for your feedback, we have had a horrid time with Sky Iver the last couple of weeks, trying to get the broadband back up and running, and Stacey has been a star! We empathise with your frustration but glad it was eventually sorted during your stay. We will be upgrading the furniture and bed during the winter and are delighted to hear that other aspects of your holiday were just what the Dr ordered. We hope to see you both again. Property Owner

  • "We had no WiFi all week, in spite of being mentioned in the comments book."

On arrival, the bulbs in the ceiling lights in the Living Room had all blown and there were no spares in the cupboard. We were informed on arrival that the toilet seat was broken and would be replaced later that day, but didn’t actually happen until a few days later. On arrival there were several weeds in the courtyard which straightaway gives a wrong impression. On entering the cottage, it was clear to see that it was exceptionally tired and in need of refurbishment. The pictures of the cottage interior on the website bear no resemblance to the actual cottage. This has clearly changed since the photos were uploaded to the website and should be updated to reflect present day. It is such a shame, this cottage could be a wonderful place, if only it was repaired and refurbished as required. The cottage is in a wonderful location, which makes it even more of a shame that we will not be booking again. This review gives us no pleasure but feel that it is only correct that future guests are aware of what it is now and not according to the photos in the website, which was the strength on which we booked it. We consider this review to be fair and reasonable.

It was good to be able to chat with you both today. Thank you for your understanding of some of the difficulties we have had, and as discussed we are addressing the various issues in the coming weeks. As discussed we hope to see you both again next year. Property Owner

Fantastic little cottage we loved staying there and hopefully we will be booking for next year as well we loved all the small touches for our dog as well as the cookies etc the only down side was the WiFi doesn't work it shows an outside fault and the down stairs toilet continually gurgles so there is possibly a blockage somewhere that needs looking into other than that it was fabulous

Thank you so much for the feedback, we are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday. We have spoken with Sky about the broadband and they assure us that it's being sorted. We have also spoken to our property manager about the gurgling who will be looking into that issue. Thank you once again. Property Owner

. Provided far more than we expected. The stay was dog freindly and we were given clear instructions on the parking. Would be useful to put down a hallway runner as the surface was a bit slippery for our dog. Excellent stay and very central. Ideal stay for a couple.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We had to take the hallway runner away just before your stay, as a previous guest had marked it beyond repair. We will be putting a new one in very shortly. Thanks for the feedback and we are glad you had a good holiday. Property Owner

They left us a pint of milk and a packet of hobnobs to welcome us which was a welcoming touch. Great facilities and a cosy feel, very dog friendly with dog bed, bowls and toys provided. Washing machine was also handy considering the very wet weather we had! The only drawback was the double bed was very creaky/noisy any time you moved and the mattress was very hard! Not a great nights sleep for us, might just be personal preference. Everything else was brilliant!

Quite a few ornaments about, if going with small children may be worth having a run round and putting them out of reach or in drawers to avoid breakages. Mattress a little uncomfortable as used to memory foam but was able to cope with it for a week, bedding was so soft and warm. Daughter used both bunk beds, she said they were both comfy. Shower had good pressure and temp was brill, I love a hot shower, hubby prefers his cooler, could've spent ages in it, does get quite steamed up, we just opened the sky light to avoid condensation build up. The Towels were so nice and thick, quite a luxury. Lounge was comfy, heating easy to use, looking at getting hive for our home now. Kitchen had everything you could need and the little welcome pack was a lovely touch. We went with a golden retriever, he settled really quickly, his first time away from home, everywhere is dog friendly and he absolutely loved his walks near the cliffs. Really close to shops and beach, we even used just eat and the delivery driver easily found the property. Would definitely return and recommend to others :)

  • "A great little cottage."

The entrance lane is a little 'down market' (not the owners fault), as is the entrance gate, however, the cottage was immaculate and beautifully presented for us. Don't let the first impressions put you off, and we certainly didn't have any cleaning issues as some past visitors, it was spotless. Great to have our own parking space, free parking is like gold dust we found, even in January. Inside, the cottage is fabulous. Loved the decor and beach/love themed wall art, so homely. Warm (easy to boost the heating), cosy, amazingly well equipped - and the softest towels ever. Sainsbury's is literally over the road, as well as a local greengrocer and a pet shop. So handy for everything. As another reviewer has mentioned, the shower is bijou, but glorious hot water on tap. Our little cockerpoo absolutely loved the wide open beaches to run on and the big soft rug to curl up on after a shower and dry off. Everywhere is dog friendly from shops to pubs, even a smart hotel restaurant. Nice welcome gifts on arrival - thank you Andy and Penny (and Robbie) - and we had a fabulous stay. Our first visit to Norfolk, definitely not our last!

Great location and nicely decorated. The cottage was exactly as the photographs on the website. As it was end of season the property does need a deep clean. I was getting something I dropped under the sofa and it was full of dust and an old pigs ear chew (not ours) so obviously not had a proper clean. The lounge windows need a deep clean also to remove condensation mould. There were some dead flies on the kitchen window sill too. It may not have had this because it has been booked out constantly. We would come back if this was done. Lovely card welcoming us along with milk, biscuits and dog treats. Thank you
