  • "Lovely stay, nice accommodation, very quiet and relaxed, lovely peaceful walks."

Could benefit from more cutlery as has dishwasher in place and only 2 teaspoons. Nice and cozy, loved the horses and free range roaming chickens and to be able to use the gardens with our dog. No amenities nearby so will definitely need a car for access to any pubs or shops etc. Thanks to Tony who was extremely helpful and welcoming we really enjoyed our stay x

The only real downside was that the steps are quite steep and so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The owner was very helpful.

It was very clean apart from a few cobwebs. Only downside was I did find the mattress too hard for me and by the end of my 4 night stay I was struggling with my back! It’s a quirky little property with a modern kitchen and rustic doors, ideal for me and my dog. Just be aware of the steep steps up to the Hayloft.

  • "This is my third visit staying at The Hayloft, and again, spent a very relaxing and peaceful week there."

The environment and facilities were of very high standard, the owner friendly, and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble with any issues that may have arisen, and ensured everything was in place to make my stay comfortable. The only negative point I would have, is that due to access to The Hayloft, there are some very vertical steps, something to keep in mind if people are not so agile when booking. Having said that \I would recommend people to Weestbrooke Barns accommodation.

  • "The Hayloft was exactly what we needed."

Close enough to places, but far enough away to get away from normal hustle and bustle. There were some lovely routes to walk nearby thanks to the local farmers as well as walking around the site itself. Other occupants of the holiday let’s were also very friendly. This was the perfect size for the two of us and the dog. Layout and decor of the let were exactly right for a dog friendly place. The only thing that some people might be concerned about is the narrow roads to get to the site, but for us this is fairly normal.

Tony the owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Would certainly book again but in one of the other converted ground floor barns as the only negative was the small door way into the bedroom which my 6'2" had to bend over to get though say quirky which really added to the charm of the place.

  • "The property was clean and well maintained."

In a nice setting in a rural location but access to well stocked Coop, fuel and Costa close by. We used it as a base to travel from and as such racked up some miles as there is not too much close by, but it suited us. It has character, but also a well equiped modern kitchen for eating in. I found the settee comfortable for evenings in, but the bed somewhat firm and not very comfortable for my liking. The breakfast bar isn't great if you are the person on the right under the sloping ceiling. Be prepared to accept that you will almost certainly crack your head against the ceiling a few times during your stay as you go into the bedroom! Final point is that the WiFi really is painfully slow. I mean pre bradband dial up slow! It regulalrly cuts out making research and booking visits & events, or even just keeping up with emails very difficult and infuriating. This really needs sorting as in the modern world it does detract from the visitor experience. Most would rather pay a little more for good broadband and the ability to stream to phone, TV etc. DVD's no longer cut it!

  • "Cosy accommodation just right for two."

Clean, tidy and a comfy bed. Good facilities with everything you need including a dishwasher and washing machine and ample parking. Really wonderful and peaceful setting in brilliantly renovated buildings. There is a private (to this accommodation) summer house with seating by the stream. It is a little remote with access via a short drive via small lanes off the A47 but with plenty of passing places. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent - we would definitely recommend The Hayloft.

  • "The property was lovely and peaceful."

The stream running past gave a feeling of tranquility. I did find the stairs up to the property a bit awkward to manage with my luggage, but this is probably because I am in my 60s and younger people would not have experienced the same. I always find Sykes Cottages to be of a high standard and the owners are friendly and welcoming. Thanks.

  • "I have stayed at \The hayloft a couple of times now, and have found the hospitality and facilities most welcoming."

The hosts provide accurate directions, and arrangements for key collecting etc. are very helpful. Every facility is available making the stay most enjoyable. The location lends itself to explore many attractions, and as I was also visiting friends in Swaffham, very convenient in distance. The position of The hayloft is within a quiet and relaxing environment, just what is needed for a "get away" holiday. I can wholly recommend The hayloft, although as the listing do mention, the steps for access are very steep, and can have some limitations for some people.

It was very well equipt, comfortable and clean with it's own garden, summer house and BBQ. Lots of lovely walks around the local countryside but very central for many of Norfolks lovely places to visit. There was a small co op for provisions and fuel, pub about 2 miles for a meal. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely go back.

  • "I found the Hayloft a homely place with all comforts required."

it was a lovely peaceful retreat to return to following explorations around Norfolk. The owners were extremely friendly, and helpful. especially as I required guiding to the location. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would like to report that the steps into the Hayloft were steep, and could be slippery when went. This would mean people have to be quite agile, perhaps something to recommend when advertising. As I have friends living locally to the Hayloft in Swaffham, and visit them fairly regularly, I shall consider staying at Westbrooke Barns again.

  • "Any upstairs property is likely to be a bit uncomfortable in hot weather as the best can be done is to have lots of fans!"

Realistically it was a bit like being in a caravan with some space restrictions. Get the impression it used to be more popular some time ago, for the owners, whilst friendly, are perhaps a little amateur despite being in this business for a long time. Have to be confident remembering the last passing place as you travel the single-track lanes 2miles from Necton where there is a good Co-op shop and filling station. Only real problems on site were the kettle tripping the whole power system until it was replaced as there were no spare plug fuses. You need to make toast with the door open or the fire alarm goes off. Wi-Fi was perfectly OK - it just needs a quick mention in the cottage information sheets. The siting is only disappointing if you want to walk a lot as the restrictions on where you can walk because of private properties make it very difficult to work out from the maps provided in the information sheets. Endless hot water should you want it but offset by silly things: only one loo roll supplied and minimal quantities of sugar/tea/coffee like a hotel room. Comfy bed, decent shower. Compared with many Sykes Cottages we have visited, this was well down the scale, though not a disaster.

  • "Excellent place to stay."

Be careful - it's so quiet, you'll oversleep! Lovely accommodation and grounds. Real bonus to have your own part of the garden. Improvements - tidy up the garden a bit, especially the area leading to the Hayloft's garden and maybe clean out the brook but I don't know much about brooks! There wasn't any Wifi. Despite these minor things, I would still recommend staying there or any of the other two properties.

  • "As most people have posted, it is a fantastic cottage, well equipped, in a remote and pleasant setting."

The only negative is the fact it is above the Haybarn, which sleeps 4 - unfortunately the owners are happy to allow contractors/workmen to rent this, and in our experience, they woke us at 05:30am whilst getting ready for work, and for that reason we won't be coming back. If your prepared to take the chance, then it really is a lovely place.

  • "Sadly, we had to leave the cottage early."

We found the general site lacking in attention. The stairs to the cottage were open tread, and in need of some repairs. We were led to believe that our dog would have plenty of space to run, but this was not the case, we were instructed to keep him on a lead whenever we were outside. Outside needed some care and attention, broken flower pots at the entrance to the cottage, just one small example. The cottage was very small, this was not a problem in itself, but the shower was only about two feet square, i couldn't even bend down to wash my feet, (no, my wife and I are not overweight, I am 12 stone my wife 11! It is not somewhere we would recommend. We left early, partly for domestic reasons, and partly because of our dis-satisfaction with the cottage, such a shame. Tony Tomkinson
