  • "When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly owner who explained everything."

The cottage was larger than we expected from the photos, spotlessly clean and had a very well equipped kitchen. Although it was October, the outside space was lovely too and we would love to return in the summer months and take advantage of it more. The area was very quiet although close enough to the attractions we wanted to visit during our stay. We have to say the beds were particularly comfortable and the showers very good! We also loved reading the book detailing the restoration of the cottage! Many small details made this cottage one we will definitely be recommending and returning to!

Met with the host on arrival who was very welcoming. The cottage was clean, well equipped and very cosy. The situation was very peaceful and the garden was lovely, our dog will agree! The property was very close to all small towns and villages and so many lovely beaches. I do not hesitate to recommend a stay at this cottage. Just a warning, there are many beams, not ideal for tall people but the bumped heads didn't put us off.

  • "A brilliant, well-equipped and characterful cottage."

Spotlessly clean, spacious and with fabulous views over the countryside from the main bedroom. We had two couples and one single person staying and there was plenty of room for everyone to be together (or have a bit of time alone). Lots of lovely outdoor space to enjoy if you are lucky enough to get the weather as we did. If you're eating out and all want a drink, you will need to book a taxi but that was very easy too! Very friendly owners. Would definitely recommend.

Such a lovely spot with everything you could need. Plenty of space and very dog friendly. The house is right in the middle of the Llyn peninsula so it’s ideal for exploring. We took a lovely evening stroll each evening along the lanes to say hello to the cows, sheep and pheasants and ducks and enjoyed watching the buzzards flying overhead. Very peaceful and relaxing.

) Cosy and charming, lovely outside area for Summer. Downstairs bedroom was the comfiest bed Ive ever slept in. Lots of nice walks and beaches on the peninsula, car needed for some, but can walk to Phwelli and Nefyn within a few hours, we also used the bus a lot as the the house is only a 10 minute walk from the bus stop (going to Ty Coch Inn is a must! Pub on the beach only accessible by foot)

From May 2023: the cottage has now been equipped with full fibre broadband. Property Owner

The owner, who lives nearby, met us on arrival to hand over the keys and welcome us. The cottage is well appointed and we wanted for nothing during our stay. The fact that there is no wifi and intermittent 4G didn’t hinder us and the quiet and semi-isolated location was a bonus for the four of us and our two dogs. It’s a perfect spot for exploring this part of Wales and we would happily return here.

  • "We had a lovely 3 night stay here with friends and our dog."

The location near Pwllheli is great, everything you need is within a 10 min drive (supermarkets, fuel, places to eat and a market in Pwllheli on a Wednesday) whilst the property itself is tranquil, located away from the hustle and bustle down a quiet country lane and short section of track. The surrounding fields hosted a variety of friendly neighbours from cows and sheep to ducks and a pheasant, but in no way were they a disturbance. An enclosed patio at the back of the house is plenty of space to host all guests for a BBQ (bag of coals we’re provided) and then sitting around the chimenea, whilst the grass areas (gardens) to the front and side were plenty of space for our dog to have a sniff around and play, we didn’t venture to the other garden with the ponds (which was separated by an arch and small gate) as likely our dog would have tried to go for a swim! Inside, the property is clean, tidy and well equipped with all the larger appliances you would need and probably more (ie.coffee machine etc) and a lovely gas (wood burner effect) fire to take the chill off on colder evenings, but the house has gas central heating anyway. The master (double) bedroom and ensuite is set upstairs via its own staircase off the lounge, whilst the other two bedrooms (a double downstairs and two singles up a different staircase) are located on the other side of the house. The bathroom facilities were very good (shower en-suite upstairs and full bath/shower combo downstairs) all very clean and great water pressure. Towels were provided, but we came with our own as we prefer to use bath sheets rather than standard bath towels. There is no wi-fi (which I loved) but you can pick up some mobile signal within certain parts of the house, otherwise if you walk outside a couple of meters up the track we were able to get full mobile signal (guess it might depend who your mobile provider is!). The owners property is located just a little further down the track so close enough if you need to ask them anything (they are very approachable). Many places are within an hours drive. In our 2 fulls days we managed to visit Abersoch, Criccieth, Harlech, Nefyn, Portmerion (BTW no dogs are allowed there) and Porthmadog as well as Pwllheli itself. Lots of stunning scenery and beach walks at some of those locations and our dog loved being able to take a swim in the sea. Other places we considered within an hours drive were Snowdon and Conwy but we simply didn’t have enough time to visit them all, so we will certainly be back to stay here to continue our discovery of Northern Wales. Just something to be aware of for taller visitors is that the external doorways and some of the roof beams inside are a little low (all part of the original character of the property) but the internal doorways are fine.

  • "This cottage is in a great location as it is situated within a short driving distance of countless beaches."

I have to agree with previous reviews regarding sharing the owners garden as being awkward. Although they welcome this, it does make you feel like an intruder when entering their personal garden so we only ventured in once. The interior is a bit mismatch and the sofas are very uncomfortable especially if you have to share it and mind your head if you sit on the one under the staircase. The consensus of 4 out of 6 of our guests, is that the mattresses are way too thin as you can feel all the springs underneath and the two double bed frames were not very sturdy. The kids were happy in the twin room so no complaints from them. The pillows also need to be changed as I could have slept on 5 of these. I know everyone is different but pillows are an essential for a good night sleep and quality is key. The bath towels were pretty small as they are only just bigger than a hand towel, I am only a 32 inch waist too. A big issue for us was the lack of internet. In this day and age it’s nice and sometimes necessary to access the web to book restaurants and days out etc and then check the weather to plan your days but the lack of WiFi and pretty much no mobile signal in the immediate area this was not possible. The owners mention enjoying the lack of internet but I think this is a much needed upgrade to the cottage. Also people like to read online to relax and it’s easy to avoid the other stresses that the internet brings. On the positive side the cottage is well equipped throughout (maybe a little more space to hang clothes) and houses a beautiful large fire. With a bit a modernising, upgrading the sleeping arrangements and WiFi, we would definitely visit again.

When we go away, we generally prefer to have the grounds to ourselves where we are ok to just let our dogs out, knowing there is no one else around. The owners were lovely, please don't think otherwise, we didn't like to feel as though we were intruding in the garden space. The owners said that the dogs were welcome around the garden, but we didn't feel comfortable doing so. The cottage is stunning, excellently equipped. Sadly for me, the mattresses were far too soft for me, luckily for me, there was a bath, which did help remedy my sore back. Great cottage, lovely owners, but personally I prefer a cottage which has its own enclosed garden.
