    We returned after staying last year and the house is in perfect location for us and so peaceful! All very clean and got Everything you could need. Only negative is the tv situation in the main room, simply doesn’t work. Everything else Great.

  • "We had no control over the heating and it was very cold witch was quite uncomfortable and we had to purchase wood and coal to warm the house up !"

    I am very sorry you had this experience. The heating control at Gilfach is a smart system. For some reason, the thermostat stopped communicating with the app. I noticed this at the beginning of your week's stay and tried to contact you to check that everything was okay. There was no mobile number on your booking. This was discussed with the staff in the Menai offices who agreed to try to contact you. We decided that if you hadn't contacted the office then everything was okay. I am sorry that wasn't the case. Had I or Menai Cottages been made aware by you that the house was cold and that there was an issue with the heating during your stay then this would have been resolved. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "Everything was perfect well arrange as a rental property together with a perfect location."

    Our only small complaint was the quality of the mattresses’s on the double beds , not as comfortable as I would have hoped.

  • "The property is great, just not cleaned to a particularly high standard."

    Also some stuff getting very tired now like the UPV windows which are old whistle like crazy on a windy day and are difficult to open and close.

We have made the cleaning company aware of your comment and also note that this is a slightly worrying theme in reviews. We are looking to appoint a house manager to supervise the changovers . Regarding the windows, the large door in the lounge unfortunately broke at the start of the busy rental season and will be replaced as soon as there is an empty week!   • "Great location, big spacious house."

    Cleaning could have been better, as stated small none shedding dogs welcome, when we arrived there was dod hair everywhere even the bath. I spent the first hour of been there cleaning up. The mattress in downstairs double was very uncomfortable. Sliding door to the garden was so stiff turns out it was broken but an easy fix. Been 7 of us the packing had to be light so we used the washer, it was rubbish didn't drain if you put more than 2 towels in it had to be stopped as the drum couldn't take the weight. Also the windows were so dirty you couldn't see the amazing views. Overall the house is a great space, garden is great.

  • "Comfortable, modern and clean and generally a lovely place to stay."

    The outside could do with some care and modernisation to be in keeping with the neighbouring houses and area as it was a bit of a heart-sink as we drove up. Of note, the information on line does not make it clear that the adjoining bedroom (twin) is literally that. Adjoined to another bedroom with no access to bathroom or landing. This might be less important if you have put your young children in there but absolutely inappropriate if you are booking this house for adult couples. We had planned to use the twin so our adult children and partners could have the doubles. It was inappropriate for us to have to go through their bedroom for the toilet and so I ended up downstairs in the single room with my husband on the floor on a mattress in there with me. There is also a problem with the window frame in the single room and the wind whistles all night. As my husband is elderly and I have physical health conditions it impacted on the enjoyment of our holiday; knowing we had to be in the single room in cramped conditions with the noise of the wind all night. We think this house is great for a family with small children but a no-no for adult couples.

The property

This delightful, detached cottage, Gilfach, is settled on the westerly edge of Abersoch.

Savouring sea views over the St Tudwals Islands and nestled in a prime location to enjoy all that the Llŷn Peninsula has to offer, Gilfach is a splendid setting for a family or group of seven’s adventure in Abersoch.

The property provides guests with ample off-road parking for three cars and a boat, so you can take advantage of Abersoch’s fantastic sailing conditions.

Upon entering the dwelling, you will be pleased to find a vibrant open-plan living space, adorned with calming blues and greens; kick off your shoes and gather on the leather sofa as the TV plays and the fire crackles away in the background.

After enjoying a show via the vast range available on the smart TV, move through the space to the eclectic kitchen, with blue tiled walls complimenting white fittings, along with a fantastic selection of integrated appliances.

From here, you will also find a handy utility, perfect for freshening up your wardrobe between activities.

When dinner is ready, enjoy it at the connecting breakfast bar or the colourful dining table, where you can open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate this coastal getaway.

After relaxing amongst the bubbles in the stylish, ground-floor bathroom, choose between two bedrooms on this floor to rest in; a charming single or double.

Head upstairs to find two more bedrooms, a spacious double decorated with a nautical theme, with a door connecting to the twin room; ideal for a family with little ones.

A leisurely stroll takes you to the centre of Abersoch, where you can enjoy excellent food at the range of eateries available, including The Vaynol Pub and Fresh Bar & Grill, as well as purchase any necessities from the well-stocked convenience stores; the village is home to two fabulous beaches, one being the Abersoch Harbour Beach where you can unwind as you watch the boats sail out to the sea, or set sail yourself if you’ve brought a boat!

Be sure to embark on the Llanbedrog Headland Circular Walk, a route that takes you through a mixture of clifftop, woodland and heathland scenery; afterwards, reward yourself with a visit to Llanbedrog’s Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery with its contemporary pieces and on-site café, or with a rest on the village’s popular beach.

The next stop is Pwllheli, where you can pay a visit to the Marina and sailing event area, enjoy a tournament at the clubs of Llŷn Golf or Pwllheli Golf Club and finish the day with a meal at the gastropub of Whitehall.

ABERSOCH

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
