  • "A lovely property and a great location for Conwy."

This property was a home from home and provided comfort following my husband having to leave and the loss of a family member on our first day. Next door were doing renovations that week too, but apologised for the noise. We are used to wooden/tiled floors so we had slippers with us and a dog bed for each room. My suggestion would be the living room could do with and extra sofa. We didn't find a dishwasher cycle that worked maybe this needs to be looked at or an instruction to guests. If a mop and bucket could be left in the out house that would be useful for keeping floors clean in wet weather. We would love to come back and stay in this property under happier circumstances.

  • "The house was lovely and in a great location."

It was clean and homely but there are a few things that need addressing. The dishwasher didn't wash properly. Might need cleaning, salt and rinse aid. One of the blinds in the front room did not work so one blind was down all the time. The memory foam beds are not great if you get hot at night. If you had normal mattresses you can put more or less blankets on but can't change the matress. Lastly the sheets on the double beds were old and had bits on them which is really itchy for someone with eczema.

  • "A lovely place you have - my second time of staying there."

There were a couple of maintenance points to make you aware of, if you're not already. One of the blinds in the living room was broken (missing the cord to draw them), and the dining room blind cord was also broken so kept on coming off. It might have been from a previous guest, but the back bedroom smelled of stale cigarettes.

  • "We (baby, dog, parents and grandparents) had a fabulous family holiday at Min Y Don."

The house is beautifully decorated with real flair and style whilst maintaining a very cosy, homely feel. We enjoyed sitting round the log burner with a cup of tea and relaxing in the living room with views of the castle. The house is ideally located for exploring Conwy (2 min walk and you are in the ancient castle walls) and the local area. Conwy Morfa beach is lovely for a dog walk. Just two small things to consider providing to make the stay perfect: dishwasher tabs and firelighters.

  • "Our main concern regarded parking."

The area for parking was outside on the main road and often there was nowhere to park. This meant using the public car park on the other side of the road which involved payment. The other concern was the kitchen floor. I can understand the owners wish to keep the original floor tiles, which were lovely in the hall. However in the kitchen some tiles had chips out of them and I didn't find this hygienic. Otherwise everything was fine.

Parking around Conwy is also a bit of challenge which is why we have a detailed description of the parking option in the property breakdown. In terms of the kitchen floor it is cleaned after every stay and we love the original features of this beautiful house. We hope you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely love Min y Don and arriving there for our second visit was like coming home - it’s a beautiful house and lots of space beautiful features and the garden is very pretty to relax in."

My dog and I especially love the dining room where we read in the morning while waiting for the family to wake up with the French door open in any weather . Beautiful views of the castle from front lounge and bedrooms. Short distance to town which is very handy. Only one small bit of constructive feedback would be to have a couple of dishwasher tablets and bin liners left as these are very much needed - we paid about £250 more for the stay this year compared to last ( though the week after our stay was less ££ so I was a bit confused) so to have to buy these basic items in addition ( also to ensure everything is clean for future guests ) was just a little bit disappointing and another trip to spar and we don’t own a dishwasher to use up the spares . Other than that we’d love to come back and hope to next year ( so will save the tablets for then ) . Thanks so much for a beautiful stay .

  • "The house was absolutely lovely!"

It's a relatively peaceful location, despite just how close it is to the centre of the town. Clearly the owners take a lot of care with the furnishings, decoration and garden, which made for a really comfortable stay. We did unfortunately have have an issue shortly after arriving with the dining room door know coming off. I reported this on the second day of a week stay, but it wasn't fixed during the stay. This was a little inconvenient as we had a small dog with us. Some other minor points of constructive feedback: i) it really is a shame not being able to recycle (!), ii) the property wasn't especially clean, for instance there were biscuit crumbs all over a couple of chairs, dust bunnies in the bedrooms and cup marks on the side, iii) although not uncommon in a lot of self catering places, it would have been nice to have a clean bbq grill, though noted the sign for people to clean it after themselves.

The house had been newly refurbished to a high standard and is very comfortable with everything that you could think of being available. It was lovely having a view of the castle from the house. A very good base to explore the north of Wales.

  • "We were awaiting our property purchase to complete, and needed a place to stay and work for a month."

Although this wasn’t a holiday for us, we loved our time at Min Y Don, during what could have been a very stressful time. Min y Don is in a fabulous location: a short walk from the town centre, and a view of the castle from the lounge and front bedrooms. Min Y Don is beautifully furnished, well equipped, with a lovely enclosed garden, and excellent reliable and fast Wi-Fi. A couple of points to note: we only discovered on arrival that dogs are not allowed upstairs. It would be helpful to include this in the listing. It was very difficult to get on-street parking outside the house. However, there is an excellent pay and display car park just opposite the house which allows overnight car parking. The steps up to the house are very steep - not a problem for most people - but something to be aware of. Although the house is on a fairly busy road - not to worry - the house is very quiet and peaceful once inside. Overall highly recommended!

Dear Ellie, Thanks for your feedback this is just to avoid muddy paws on the carpets and bedding and there is a handy stair gate fitted to help keep fury friends downstairs. Parking is always tricky in beautiful Conwy and yes the car park opposite is a real blessing! We are so pleased that you had a lovely stay and hopefully it made the stresses of house hunting a little nicer. Good luck with your search and thank you for staying at Min Y Don. Property Owner

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
