"Lovely house in a great location, views are wonderful."
Beds very comfortable. However, house is a little shabby and could do with some general maintenance and a deep clean, towels were cheap and scratchy. We struggled to find info on heating controls, bin collection, appliances etc. Having said that, we had a fabulous holiday, Criccieth is a lovely seaside village and surrounding area is stunning.

"Cwm Eilir owes everything to its position, with wonderful views of the sea and castle and a walk to the beach."
A comfortable house with the added benefits of a day room leading out onto a south facing terrace, separate sitting room and three double bedrooms. The kitchen is exceedingly well equipped and the dining room an added bonus. There is a downstairs loo and small shower rooms to two bedrooms as well as a full bathroom. One or two problems re general maintenance have been mentioned previously and could be a problem to some. But we really enjoyed our week here, felt totally comfortable, enjoyed the facilities and the house really made our great grandsons first seaside holiday a big hit. We all loved Criccieth too.

"Amazing view from the front windows, which never failed to please."
The house was well equipped and was cleaned well. The garden was well kept and had a host of wildlife (rabbits, stoat, young robin, young blackbird, young thrush and bats doing laps and aerial acrobatics in the garden in the evenings). Easy walking distance to the beach and to the shops, and plenty of parking down the side of the house. Suggestions for improvement - a better "information pack" for visitors, including instructions for emptying and putting out the bins, and perhaps use the notebook for guests to record any maintenance issues/improvements. Thank you for the Welsh Cakes on our arrival.

"A nice house to stay in."
It's clean, spacious and had everything we needed in way of equipment. The house is in a good position with stunning views of the coast and just a few minutes walk to the sea and Criccieth town.
There are a couple of areas re maintenance that need addressing - one of the shower rail fixings was loose and two of the toilet seats were not not fixed properly. Nothing major and fairly easily sorted.
We would definitely consider staying here again.

"Lovely house which had everything we needed."
The only thing I would suggest is that the windows were cleaned so to enjoy the fabulous views. I did clean one of the front ones whilst there

.cottage was clean and comfortable , many nearby walks for our dogs. Thanks for mince pies , and tea , coffee and sugar! We feel that although some previous reviews were unjust , there are some issues with damp which need addressing (but this didn’t stop us enjoying our stay ,nore stop us from booking the property ) and we made full use of the log burner . The property is currently not secure for dogs but could easily made to be .

"Generally I was very pleased with Cwm Eilir."
I was quite surprised at a slew of negative reviews. I must have been staying at a different property, because I only found much to praise this exceptional house with glorious views over Cardigan Bay. I was very taken with the night time views of Criccieth Castle that was illuminated brilliantly. It was like being immersed in a Medieval fairy tale. Being central to Snowdonia, the house is a walkers' paradise with all the green forests and less taxing trails of Southern Snowdonia within easy reach, and some of the more challenging terrain of the North just up the road. There's plenty of charming towns within 30 minutes drive such as Dolgellau and Caernarfon. The shops are 5 minutes away at Porthmadog. And we would recommend No 46 cafe in Criccieth - it's a popular haunt with lots of freshly made food. Criccieth is a sublime place. The beach is just down the road from the house, which is generally clean. Opening windows will clear any damp smells and most of the linen is more than adequate. There is a footpath right next to the side of the house. To me it's a very good cottage in a 100 star location. If you want to make the most of Snowdonia, this is the place to be.

"We arrived on Saturday the 26th August as we entered the property we were hit with a smell of damp there was damp all-over the walls it wasn't very clean the duvets were ripped there was stains on the bedding we had to clean cups, plates etc before using them and we had to clean the windows to see the lovely view as they were very dirty."
There was a stain on the mat in the main living room there were pictures missing from picture hooks we will definitely not be returning it needs updating and the mold and damp sorting out and a lock on the kitchen door with the electric meters in the cupboard is also full of mold there also should not be a socket in the downstairs loo. Some windows didn't open others wouldn't shut the shower in the right hand bedroom doesn't get hot we also had to buy air fresheners for every room to try and get rid of the smell. The trap in the main shower wouldn't go down fast enough and flooded the bathroom floor when using it . The washer is plumbed in back to front. There's a lose floorboard in the small bedroom. We struggled with a full bin on arrival due to inappropriate collections for a holiday let. It's a shame as this property has a lot of potential if done up right.

"We enjoyed our holiday in Cwm Eilir."
It’s a nice house in a great location close to the beach and the town and has wonderful views. Great parking for 3 cars. The house however is in need of an upgrade and needs work done on it eg windows. There was no information file, not even regarding rubbish collections and the bottle recycling box was full when we arrived. There was no information re emergency numbers or any local information which one would normally expect in a holiday house. The house was adequately cleaned but could do with a good deep clean.

"The house is in a great location and had all required amenities apart from a working dishwasher - I also had to buy a colander, decent potato peeler & no cheese/veg grater."
The picture windows offer great views but the house just doesn't feel at all homely so a few homely touches wouldn't go amiss, books, dvds maybe - 1st house I've stayed in where there wasn't a single book! I left some. A splash of colour might help alleviate the beigeness of the decor throughout the house

"We're sad to say this is our first holiday home, that in it's current state, we would not want to return to."
It's such a shame as the house could be wonderful. It is a good size and in a great position. You know you're on holiday with its beautiful views and we felt very safe in it. We even enjoyed watching the bats in the front garden at dusk.
However there is a smell of damp in most of the downstairs areas which for us spoilt us trying to use the space to either relax, play games or eat. We found it best to leave the door to one of the lounges closed all the time rendering the space useless and had to allow fresh air in as much as we could.
The house had been cleaned but as its a large house more time or an extra cleaner would be better so they could do a thorough job removing spiders and their webs, clean internal doors and ornaments etc for a better standard and first impression.

"Lovely spacious house with beautiful seaview and the perfect place to visit North Wales."
The bedrooms are large with comfy beds and ensuit bathroom. The house is well equiped but we would have liked to have a coffee maker. The terrace in front of the house is pleasant and we were lucky to have great weather. The house is a little oldfashion, the carpets and windows need to be cleaned. Dispite this, we had a good stay at Cwm Eilir.

"When we entered the property it looked very good."
There was a small milk can and a pack of Welsh cake kept as complimentary for us. The interior and the rooms were quite spacious, plus 2 rooms were ensuite, so it suited our stay but by the evening we realized that one of the bedroom light wasn't working and the other bedroom's hot water wasn't working. The rooms mostly had webs around the corners and the carpet areas were dirty as we could see insects roaming around. The chair kept outside were having webs too and wasn't clean enough. I also noticed in one of the ensuite the bath room had insect roaming around which felt unhygienic.
I would rate it as 2.5 stars if I was allowed. It wasn't entirely a perfect stay as I was expecting.

"The property is really lovely and in a very good position."
However, it could do with a bit of TLC as some of the occasional tables in the lounge with the fire and the wooden chairs in the other lounge had very large cobwebs on them the house also smelt damp when we arrived and when we tried to open the windows found that a number of them were locked and no key available to unlock them and the window in the bathroom has no handle which means that it cannot be opened at all.
The beds were very comfy and appeared to have new linen on them. The sofas and dining room were perfect for our party of 6 adults.
We had an issue with the shower in the ensuite of the first double bedroom which tripped the mains. We contacted the lady who manages the property and she told us where the fuse box was so we were able to continue using it and she was arranging for an electrician to look at it.
We have a couple of suggestions to make that would help future renters - a book in the house with information about the recycling bins snd also where to leave the towels and bedding on the day of departure. Also info for the use of the hob and oven (we were fortunate that one of our party has the same hob and knew how to turn the child lock off otherwise we would have been stuck).
Another suggestion is somewhere to hang the towels in the ensuite bathrooms and in one of the ensuites there is no mirror so if somebody needs a wet shave they would have to use the mirror on the wardrobe door in the bedroom which isn't exactly ideal.
I would just like to say that despite the issues above we had a very enjoyable few days and would certainly consider booking this property again in the future as its location and views were perfect.
