We enjoyed lots of walking especially along the beach and so did the dog! A good place to recharge the batteries and I would highly recommend it.

  • "We had a lovely week at Hen Beudy cottage."

The accommodation had everything you'd need for your stay. It was also the ideal central location for the events / places we'd planed to visit. Supermarkets just a short drive into Porthmadog to stock up for the week. The narrow lane in from the main road can be tight at times if passing oncoming traffic but thankfully, it wasn't too busy. Only wish we'd planed to stay for two weeks instead of one. Would highly recommend a holiday at this cottage if planning a trip. Looking forward to our next stay. Mike, Julie & Tia (the dog).

  • "Had a wonderful week and Hen Beudy was a lovely base for exploring NW Wales."

Great walks from the doorstep, including (20 mins) to the vast expanse of Black Rock Sands (you can even drive along the beach and pitch camp right by the waters edge). So much to see and do, will have to come again for all the things we missed out. The only very minor thing lacking with the property, a bit more kitchen cupboard space for groceries would have been useful. Diolch

  • "Another wonderful stay at this lovely cottage."

Having scoured the internet for a cottage on the peninsula, I couldn’t find anything to match it - hence the revisit. It’s the perfect balance of remote and accessible: it feels like it is in the wilds but other property near enough that it doesn’t feel isolated and I was happy to stay there travelling solo. There are walks from the door step ( to Criceath and Borth-y-Gest) but it’s also easy to get to all points on the peninsula and up into Snowdonia - favourite spots this time were Mynydd Mayr ( at the far tip of the peninsula) and Nant Gwrtheyrn ( on the north coast) - both great spots for walking. The cottage is very very peaceful, the decoration lovely and the bed was fine, although firmer than my one at home ( and the bath is great!). The track down is bumpy with some puddles but not flooded despite all the rain- just take it slowly. The bottom coast road from black rock sands through to Morfa Bychan and Porthmadog is flooded and doesn’t look like it will open any time soon, but you’re fine if you follow the instructions on how to get to the cottage ( just ignore the road closed sign where you turn off by the railway bridge). Had a brilliant time. Thank you for such a lovely restful stay in my “happy place”!! Hope to be back!

  • "We had a very enjoyable week staying in this beautiful cottage!"

It was everything we hoped for and more, the location is remote enough that you feel closer to nature but not so remote you are completely cut off. We only used our car twice during the week as there are a lot of lovely and long walks on the doorstep. We spoke to the owner on the second day as he was passing by, and I was delighted to learn that he had done most of the artwork in the cottage. Just a small heads up for people with small ramshackled cars like ours, the drive up to the cottage is rather bumpy and pot holey so take it slow. Also we struggled to find the wifi code, it is within the wifi box and bin bags are under the sink. But I cannot stress how much we enjoyed our very comfortable stay here! We would most certainly love to visit again!

  • "The property was beautiful, great location close to the beach and all amenities, while still having absolute peace and quiet with amazing views of the green hillsides and sea."

The property was cleaned to an immaculate standard other than a few cob webs on the ceilings and was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bed was unfortunately quite hard and uncomfortable which became increasingly inconvenient during our stay, and we also had an issue with the boiler as the hot water would only last a few minutes and then needed over an hour to get hot again, however one of the neighbors were instructed by the landlord to assist and they were able to quickly resolve the issue.

Dear Victoria, Thank you so much for your feedback and staying with us at Hen Beudy. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the boiler and thank you for bringing this to our attention and kind patience on the matter. Following your feedback we have bought a feather mattress topper and pillows from the white company, with new bedding we do hope that the comfort may be improved. Thank you again and we do hope that you enjoyed your stay. With many thanks, Lucy Property Owner

You do however have a problem with blue bottles, which I believe to be cluster flies in the window seels. Maybe also provide some extra mats for dirty feet! Also a problem with the hot water, which doesn't even fill half a bath and needs boosting constantly You could also do with pasta bowls and bigger glasses in the kitchen Please do not take this as a negative The cottage is stunning and I would highly recommend to family and friends! Just trying to give positive criticism in hope that it helps you see from a guests point of view!

  • "With dogs travelling with me, I’d suggest NOT cutting the grass without a grass box just before we arrive."

It all came in the house. Please sort the dreadful noise that the outside kitchen door makes! The three outside doors all need a ‘pinning back’ facility .. they are ‘heavy’ doors and just blow inwards if left open … guests are using rocks to wedge them open and I would suggest this will damage the door surround. Downstairs was very chic … the bedroom, less so. Lack of colour, style and coordination in my humble opinion. Overall I was delighted with the accommodation however. I put the hoover out of sight … I don’t particularly want to look at a hoover on the wall for a whole week thank you. Nigel.

Dear Nigel, Thank you for your feedback and staying at Hen Beudy. We have now installed cabin hooks to the external doors, and fed back to our housekeeper to take care to cut the grass when dry and collect the cuttings. We are sorry for any inconvenience here. We were delighted to hear you loved the downstairs. The artwork is all by my father and have passed this on. Your feedback is invaluable to us improving the cottage and so thank you again. The cottage was lovely and clean and really well kitted out can't think of anything I would say was missing. It was absolutely beautifully decorated and furnished. Bathroom was lovely and bed very comfortable. Highlight was the entertaining sheep in the surrounding field which were a constant source of entertainment in the evening when we were sat in the garden. Only thing I would highlight us the unmade road up to the cottage which us mention in the description, it really is a track more than a road which wasn't an issue for us but worth being aware of, the cottage is worth the trip. We will definitely be returning.

We met the owner on our arrival (he was cutting the lawn at the rear of the cottage) and he was very polite and helpful in terms of giving us advice of things to see and do, and a little background on the cottage. If it's solitude you want, it's ideal. Complete privacy and peaceful, you hear the lambs in the neighbouring fields that surround the cottage, and that's about it. The cottage is warm and cosy and good amenities. Plenty of parking for your car. No wi-fi as yet, but good signal anyway if you needed to use the internet. It stands on its own but didn’t feel too remote even though I was staying on my own. It’s an easy walk to the beach or Cricceath and Porthmadog is a short drive (although the beach at Borth y Gest is much more picturesque. Garden at the cottage is a work in progress but there’s a really nice area for sitting out ( and plenty of entertainment from the surrounding sheep and their lambs, who obviously haven’t quite got the hang of tourists, judging by the optimistic stampede towards the house whenever I appeared! ). Love to come back sometime!
