• "In its present form, I cannot recommend this house, it needs a lot of TLC."

  On arrival I had to ask a neighbour where to park, there is a small dilapidated sign that’s tucked away and hard to see, I only noticed it after a few days. The parking is difficult to access and I was warned there was a danger of the two metal (pointless?) bollards flying up and damaging my car. It was also a neighbour, not the owner or Sykes, who advised me to drive round the block and reverse into the parking area, but even doing that I was fearful of damaging my car. I had the code for the key safe, but after struggling for some time with it not working we found there was a second one that did work. The front door lock doesn’t work, it has to be secured from inside, it is not possible to lock the front door from the outside, so you have to walk past all the bins (which were full on arrival) to the back door. The downstairs toilet door sticks. The door from the back door to the kitchen door is impossible to close, and there’s a smelly drain cover on the other side of the kitchen door, covered by a mat. The kitchen scissors fall apart. In the night there are slugs on the kitchen floor. The TV system is impenetrable unless you have a PhD in Sky technology, a simple Freeview TV would make a lot of sense. On arrival there was no central heating for the first three days, and the back-up electric fire didn’t work. There are various damp patches around the house. The landing light, by the boiler in the locked cupboard, works sometimes. The house was clean when we arrived, but otherwise there was an impression of the house having been neglected and various issues ignored. I was glad to leave.

  The cottage is well equipped and in a good location for exploring Snowdonia. There's a steep lane up to the parking bay

• "I have stayed in other Sykes cottages, we were basically disappointed as when arrived in the evening we looked for a information pack, but none, we were cold but no way could we see to put heating on there was a thermostat in the living room but no radiator heating, the boiler we assume was in locked cupboard."

  There was only Sykes number to call but the office closed. We were able to use fire in living room which provided a nice warm environment during the week, but was too chilly to eat in dinning area in the evening. The Tv was again a little difficult, had sky remote but just stated no satellite signal, we managed to navigate the smart Tv to watch programmes. Basically if there had been an information pack, even if it stated heating off for season, and Tv instructions it would have been a great help, rather than us waste time looking when we arrived tired. Also no instructions re bins and recycling other than a calendar we found in the kitchen working out when the bins collected but nothing about where to leave them. Basically the property had no information it needs a information pack with numbers say for a vet, where hospital is etc and about the house. The good points were the location absolutely perfect to reach the wonderful scenery of north wales.
