Beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful area. Helpful and friendly host. Plenty of information of local activities available. No phone reception inside the property. Wifi connection not always reliable. Would highly recommend for those who want complete quiet. A perfect getaway!

  • "We again had a wonderful stay."

I can't recommend Huglith highly enough for the location - I just wishes we could have stayed longer and explored the area around the farm. This is a rural location in a house that is quite old (has some little quirks): as long as you have this is mind then you won't be disappointed. The house has everything that you need (except glassware - please add some tumblers to the kitchen cupboards!) and the welcome from the hosts was very warm. Recommended!

Prunella, the owner, and her son David, made us feel very welcome. The farmhouse is fully equipped with everything you could need. The en suite and family bathroom both have fantastic showers and the beds are very comfortable. The best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.

  • "We had a wonderful sunny May half week with 3 children(aged 11,9 and 6 years) and grandparents at Huglith farm."

The area and cottage are beautiful. There are lots of great walks to do ( we did Stiperstones and Long Mynd which are a short drive away) as well as ones from the doorstep. We also went to Blists Hill Victorian village and rafting down the Severn at Ironbridge which we highly recommend. Its a great place for a very relaxing stay in gorgeous accommodation. Would love to go back!

The view was amazing. The owner made sure we were okay and had all we needed. She left us everything to make a cuppa, including biscuits. But also added fresh eggs from the farm and a bottle of wine. My only regret was we couldn’t stay longer. Thank you.

  • "This was such a lovely escape in the middle of the pandemic (and just before lockdown 2)."

We visited during October half term, and appreciated the flexibility of being able to book for only part of the week. The house was huge and so comfortable and pretty, but also safe for our two-year-old twins, who didn't break anything! There was plenty of room for both their cots in one of the bedrooms, and our five-year-old loved being in the single bedroom with beams at the top of the house. We enjoyed the log fire, going for walks straight out of the door, and watching the cows come in on one of the days of our visit. The kitchen and heating were easy to use, and we appreciated the little treats that had been left for us! The house feels gloriously remote and quiet, but it was also easy to get to the places we wanted to visit: the Stiperstones (very nearby), the Long Mynd, Hawkstone Park and Wroxeter Roman City on our way home. The house and the holiday suited us perfectly and were just what we needed.

  • "We had a fantastic week at Huglith Farm."

The cottage is so spacious and homely with everything we could possibly want (even a few goodies left for us!). We met the owner on arrival and she was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is in a wonderful location, very remote (which is why we chose it) with fabulous views from every window. Great walks from the door and many, many walks within a short drive. We will definitely return at some point very soon.

Huglith was everything that we were hoping for and more. It made our family Christmas extra special and we didn't want to leave. The property and setting were perfect and the owner was very friendly. There was nothing that we would have changed although my daughter would have liked to have stayed for longer as she loved it! We would definitely recommend Huglith Farm to others and will be back. Thank you Prunella for the lovely welcome and the extras that were left.

  • "Huglith Farm was one place where the pictures really couldn't do the location justice."

Stunning location and exceptional views, especially from the top of the nearby hill. The location is very rural, so it might add a little time to travel for day trips, but the payoff is a very peaceful location with no traffic noise whatsoever! The only noises you'll hear are from the buzzards, red kites, owls, ravens and the resident cows at the farm. The farm itself is beautifully appointed but also has a very homely quality about it. All the rooms are well proportioned and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our day trips to Ludlow, Stiperstones, the Long Mynd, Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Berrington Hall. The Nags Head at Pontesbury was a consistent eatery: all seven in our party enjoyed their meals there on two separate occasions. The owners at Huglith Farm were very welcoming and friendly and provided some nice touches, like freshly picked mushrooms. Certainly a place I would happily come back to again. As noted by another user though, it's a shame Sykes Holidays bombard you with daily emails. I enjoyed their holiday but would I want to book a holiday every day from them? Not likely! But that wouldn't put me off booking again at Huglith Farm.

The track up to the house was quite rough but slow driving up it didn't cause any problems. There was a warm welcome from the owner. The house was lovely, very clean and well equipped. There were fresh flowers in the hallway which was a lovely touch and lovely planters outside along with ample seating for all of us. The teenagers with us enjoyed the outside for going exploring and the wifi for continuing to use their computers and phones. The house was situated in glorious countryside with amazing views and we enjoyed watching buzzards flying, seeing pheasants and hearing the lowing of cattle. Very peaceful place to recharge batteries.

A stunning setting, and a beautiful house, with heaps of little extras to enjoy. Sitting out on the decking with a glass of wine, left by the owners, enjoying the tranquillity and gorgeous views in the setting sun - what a way to start a holiday! Plenty to do in the area, from Stokesay Castle, a gem of an ancient manor house, to the little steam railway at Telford - just what excited a train-mad three year-old - and the charming town of Ludlow with its market. All lovely!

About the location

HABBERLEY

Pontesbury 3 miles; Shrewsbury 12 miles.

The small village of Habberley lies near the Stiperstones and has several attractive half-timbered houses including Habberley Hall which dates back to the 16th century and was once home to the Mytton family, a famous member being Jack Mytton after whom the 100 mile long Jack Mytton Way was named. The local pub also bears the family name, the Mytton Arms. The beautiful village of Pontesbury is only a few miles away and has lovely shops, pubs and restaurants. Shrewsbury is full of higgledy-piggledy streets, and a river that scoops up the town in a loop. A mix of the very old and the very new, the quirky and the one-off. Set amidst glorious countryside near to the Welsh Borders, it is one of England's finest medieval market towns. The town centre is packed with timber-framed Black and White buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. There are over 600 listed buildings including the Castle, now a regimental museum, and the world-famous Shrewsbury Abbey, home of the fictional Brother Cadfael.
