  • "The house was in a fantastic location, offering the right balance of quiet countryside without being too remote, and within short driving distance to many wonderful places to visit both coastal and inland."

The house is beautifully presented and in keeping with the style of the property. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable upon available, and then left us to enjoy our holiday. The house was very well heated, with the option of open fires, there were plenty of clean, fluffy white towels and the kitchen was very well equipped. Internet speed is limited due to the location, but more than enough for two teenagers to keep in contact with the outside world. Lowick Village shop and the Black Bull Inn were excellent to have on the doorstep. Our only hestinacy in returning would be the recent change to the property becoming pet friendly and whether this would impact our stay.

The property is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. When we arrived the heating was on and we felt very welcome. We really cannot fault the property or its owner - highly recommended.

  • "The farm house was lovely and peaceful."

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, but left us alone. We found it reassuring to know that someone with local knowledge was living next door. The only surprise was the extremely large farm building that runs all the way across the rear of the house, this blocked out any view from the rear of the building, although I suppose that being a farm you are going to need farm buildings. It was the fact that I could not find any mention of this when booking the property. However the view from the front of the property was stunning looking over to the Cheviots & watching hare’s & other wildlife in the field directly opposite on a daily basis. Thank you for allowing us to stay in such a beautiful place that you obviously love so much. The wine and biscuits we found when we arrived were a lovely treat.

  • "Having stayed there before, we returned because we knew how spacious and comfortable the Old Farmhouse is."

We appreciated having 2 sitting rooms with TV's plus 2 bathrooms upstairs. It's handy having a separate utility room with an extra fridge, plus downstairs toilet. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside both at the front with the lovely view and at the back in the enclosed garden with a BBQ. The owner is very welcoming and hospitable - and we hope to return for a 3rd stay one day!

We were a family of 6, and the house was a good size and in a great, quiet location.

Thank you for your kind feedback sorry about frying pans I replace every year but they do seem to get a bit the worse for wear by the end of a busy season. Property Owner

  • "The Old Farmhouse was a brilliant place to stay."

It was much bigger than we had expected, beautifully presented and had everything you could want for an enjoyable stay. It is ideally situated to explore places like Holly Island and all the coast line down to Craster. We used it mainly as a base for some walking in the Cheviots. There are fantastic views over these from the 2 front bedrooms. The house is very well set up for families with both front and back gardens enclosed to stop little ones making the great escape. Cots and high chairs were available. There were only 4 of us so we rattled around in the space. 6 adults wouldn't feel squashed. The location is very quiet even though there is a road running in front of the house. This appears to have about 2 cars a day using it and although on a working farm you wouldn't know it. Lowick is just down the road and has a good locals pub as well as a decent Pub/Restaurant ( The Black Bull) Ford & Etal estate is close by and definitely worth a visit. There also some beautiful walks around the estate. One very, very small niggle was the ensuite was a tad cosy but it was perfectly usable. The owner, Mrs Reavely is delightful and only lives at the other end of the farm. She kindly left lots of fresh flowers, wine and a very large box of sweets! If you are thinking of visiting this part of the country I would highly recommend the Old Farmhouse as an ideal base

  • "Beautiful property ,spacious with everything needed for a week away ."

Excellent base to explore the area. Safe and secure back garden area perfect for a young family and beautiful views from the front garden . The road at the front is deceiving as cars travel very fast along it so care is needed . Overall a lovely, welcoming property that was comfortable, spacious ,and well equipped.

  • "The Old Farmhouse is a very comfortable, well furnished spacious house in a beautiful setting with fantastic views of the Cheviots."

An unexpected welcome pack of two bottles of wine (enjoyed by the adults) and a lovely box of biscuits which were enjoyed by all the family was a lovely thought as were the fresh flowers. Mid week we even received some fresh home grown vegetables from the very friendly and helpful owner which were delicious. The enclosed garden was very much appreciated by our granddaughter and meant we could relax knowing she was safe playing. Garden furniture at the front and the rear of the property meant we could make the most of the sun early mornings and late into the evening and the sun room meant we could enjoy the sun even when there was a slight breeze, It is an excellent base for Northern Northumberland and the Borders, we had fantastic days out exploring with lots to do within 30/40 minutes of the property. We would definitely stay again and don't think anyone would be disappointed if they booked this property. Thank you from all of us.

  • "Excellent property: comfortable, well furnished and great location for all tourist sites."

Welcome pack included two bottles of wine and a lovely box of chocolates that went down very well. Owner very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return given availability. NB1: the internet is slow by modern standards (0.3 MBPs), due to remoteness and overhead telephone wires. This was good on one hand as our kids had to engage in conversation, games etc with the rest of the family. On the other hand there weren't any games at the house, which is unusual for a holiday let so we had to go and buy some in Berwick. Suggest raiding Berwick charity shops for a few jigsaws and games for future visitors. NB2: the road outside the house is very fast and can be dangerous for kids. Our 12 year old nearly got herself run over goofing about. There are suitable warnings in the information pack but I think Northumberland CC should be putting up a hazard sign so it would be worth raising this with them.

The enclosed garden space at the back is ideal for young children to play safely and also a nice wee sun trap for the adults to sit and enjoy. We chose this location as there was much to see and do all within half hour drive of the property. The property owner was very friendly and helpful.

Had everything to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. Plenty of room for family gathering both inside and out. Safe back garden for children, great space for outdoor eating and very good gas BBQ. Good area as base to be able to access so many places, wonderful beaches, castles, nature walks. For families -swimming pool at Berwick great, Kelso -playground, river walk, skateboard track. Farne Islands boat trip recommended. Lots wildlife seen- deer, hares, dolphins, seals, numerous different birds, wild ponies. Recommend staying here
