  • "Good location for visiting family, a few niggles which we raised with the owners."

  • "Very spacious house, huge rooms, comfortable beds, modern but still has that cosy feeling."

The garden was brilliant, yes it’s not completely secure, but as our dog is big she couldn’t get through the fence and the only other gaps are by where you park the cars. Next doors dog did appear on the garden a few times so that could be an issue for some. The oil boiler is a different smell to what we are all used to at home but for us it wasn’t an issue and we spent many hours in the kitchen enjoying the space. A barrier at the bottom of the stairs would be a good addition to stop four legged friends going upstairs. And the quirky doors not shutting adds to the charm but maybe the couple of gaps in the downstairs bathroom door could be filled in. So would I recommend Hill Farm…. 100%. YES!!

  • "Where do I start."

We were booked in for a week, but only could stay 3 nights, as there was an awful smell from the boiler when it fired up, and it was not heathy, we reported it to the number given to us and was told there was nothing wrong with the boiler, it was coming from outside, but reading a feedback that has not gone on your website other people have raised the issue of the boiler !!!! There was no teapot in the cottage which after ringing the Owner who was away on holiday, got someone to drop one off, but said there has never been a one in the cottage. !!!! Then there’s more dirty utensils, we had to wash everything and the freezer had four drawer but couldn’t get them open properly because it all needed defrosting, I told the Owner but she couldn’t do anything because she was away on holiday, I was on holiday as well!!!! Dirty baking trays which I have thrown better away. The light switch cord in the upstairs bathroom was to say the least filthy. We reported this all to Sykes, but on a plus side of things the beds were very comfortable. .

I do apologise that you did not enjoy your stay but regarding the boiler we had the plumber come out and check it over and everything was fine and safe, we have all the detectors in the house and all certificates needed. We had just topped up on the oil and the plumber said it could be because it is still settling in. Regarding the dirty utensils we ask all guest to clean all items used, when the clean is done we have a look over but as so many items odd ones get left out. I do have to say out of the items you said were dirty only 1 was questionable. Regarding me been away it is school holidays and I do have a family that need a break I tried my hardest to sort your problems from away but I could only do so much. I can reassure you I do not live next door and my husband was not in as you question response to issues, as soon as I came home I came to the property only to find it left unlocked and bins still full ( we do ask all bins to be emptied) Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely stay at Hill Farm Cottage."

It's a beautiful house and garden and had all the necessities. it was very clean, cosy and warm and the beds were very comfortable! A couple of things we might suggest to make it a little more dog friendly: As dogs are not allowed upstairs, maybe a stair gate would be handy. A fully fenced garden would make it so that everyone could relax a little more and dogs can enjoy the lovely big garden. (We had a little visitor a couple of times in the garden, in the shape of a cute dog who I assume lives on the farm, not a problem for us but could be for some people/dogs). One more suggestion would be to add a BBQ to make the most of the garden. The only complaint would be that the boiler in the kitchen does give off quite a strong oil smell. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Hill Farm was a great stay."

We had to purchase toilet and kitchen paper so would have been good if those were provided. The table tennis room was also very cold and dark with the electric heater, with the table tennis equipment being a bit worse for wear. Though all in all it was a very pleasant and cosy stay!

  • "The property was clean and well presented."

We found it very comfortable and well equipped. Our only niggles were the lack of coat hangers and the mirror in the downstairs bathroom could be placed a little lower or perhaps fit a shaving mirror near to the washbasin. Otherwise very comfortable and spacious, thank you.

  • "Myself and my 2 adult children and my teenage son and our dog had an very enjoyable 4 night stay which was booked very last minute."

The owners were extremely helpful having the property ready with 2 hours notice of us arriving! This is a delightful property on a working farm, renovated to a high standard and tastefully furnished/decorated, the beds were particularly comfortable, I had the best nights sleep! The owners are helpful and friendly and only 5 mins away incase of any issues. They were very quick to respond to our “No” hot water or heating predicament one evening which turned out to be the wind had just blown it out so was rectified very easily and quickly. They were also very understanding when my adult son with autism became obsessed with setting the fire alarm off! The only negative I have is the lack of a washing machine which would have been a issue for us if we stayed any longer. The owners are looking into putting one in the property or guests having access to one. You honestly won’t be disappointed a lovely cottage in a lovely part of the country.

  • "The cottage was very nice, there were a couple of things you may like to check out; we found the wi-fi was very unreliable and we had to use mobile data quite a lot of the time."

Also most of the internal doors couldn't be closed fully, particularly the 3 bedroom doors; we needed to place something against them to keep them closed. Also the downstairs shower room had no substantial lock on it and the door was not solid so there were several places where you could see into the room. The kitchen was completed very well but maybe a washing machine and rotary washing line would be useful for longer stays. There were no teaspoons in the cutlery draw. These are not major issues, just something the owner may want to address. We would definitely return as the cottage has been fitted out really well, with quality furnishings and well equipped kitchen to have a longer break/holiday. The games room is a great addition too. We had a great time - thank you!

Morning thank you for your feedback. A BT engineer was due to come out on Monday to fix the internet but as we took a late booking we cancelled him so that we didn’t intrude on your break. We have tried to keep all the original farm house features beams and old doors to keep the character, but we will look into the issues. So sorry you didn’t have any teaspoons, I have no idea where they have gone but I will replace. I hope this doesn’t put you off returning and look forward to possible seeing you again. About the location

WRENBURY

Nantwich 5.5 miles; Whitchurch 6 miles.

The village of Wrenbury is situated in south Cheshire, within reach of both Nantwich and Whitchurch and is on the Shropshire Union Canal. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Wrenbury has a Post Office, shops, two pubs, a church and a village green. Close by is the delightful market town of Nantwich set on the banks of the River Weaver and the Shropshire Union Canal. It is famous for its outdoor Brine Pool which is one of the few remaining in the UK and heated throughout the summer. There are regular market days throughout the week and a monthly farmers' market showcasing the best of produce from the local area. Nantwich town centre is pedestrianised and benefits from some superb examples of historic buildings, and is well worth visiting in spring and summer when it comes alive with floral displays throughout the streets. Also within reach is Whitchurch, a market town with many splendid buildings, from Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, all dominated by St. Alkmund’s Church. Internationally renowned for its clock production dating back to the 1650s, Whitchurch is known as "the Home of Tower Clocks". A lovely base for exploring the area.
