  • "We had a wonderful week staying at Rose Cottage."

It was a home from home stay, where every thing you could possibly need was there. We enjoyed cosy nights in by the fire and the bed was perfect for us. The cottage was based in a fabulous location and we did a few walks from the door, including Chrome Hill. We also completed a few mountain bike routes around local reservoirs and across moors up to Froggatt Edge. We will definitely love to come back to Rose Cottage again. Thank You

  • "You can always tell when the owner of a holiday home has totally put themselves in your place and checked that all a guest needs is at hand."

From the very first moment when you find after a long journey, that you can back up right to the front door to unload the car, we found this lovely cottage to be perfect. The kitchen was so cleverly designed, it was a pleasure to use and everything worked and it had all we needed. The 2 soft sofas were so comfy , hooks and space for boots , cute little doors to deter doggy explorers upstairs, slept so deeply in the king size bed ! Even the little garden was just enough and with seating front and back you could always follow the sun ! Well done, it was a pleasure to return each day and know we had all we needed to relax .

  • "Well appointed property in very good condition."

The only problem was that we could not get bbc or itv on the television. This may have been caused by the previous tenants however there were no instructions as to how to operate the TV. We would suggest that the instructions on how to get there travelling from Ashbourne are changed so that you approach the property from the B5053 this cuts out lots of narrow lanes.

  • "Lovely and good looking cottage."

Well equipped and comfortable. Well located to all the Peak District has to offer, has good walking routes nearby for dog walking and hill climbing for amazing views. Buxton, a lovely little town, is just a few minutes drive away. The free range eggs from the owners own hens were the best eggs we ever had and the Bakewell pudding was a bonus. Many thanks

  • "We had lovely stay in Rose Cottage, everything was as expected."

Thank you for the eggs and Bakewell pud. We walked to Crowdecote on 3 evenings to eat at the Packhorse. The pub is quaint and the food was great with good sized portions. My only negative would be that the green bins were very heavily laiden with rotting stuff and were very smelly. The black bin was almost full and we never did work out what was supposed to go in to the blue bin. Apart from that, it was perfect.

  • "A lovely snug cottage with everything we needed and more."

Fantastic for the two dogs with a small stone walled garden backing onto a field of sheep. We found the small village perfect for us and found a short but steep trail where we could let the dogs off lead. Would definitely stay here again. Shops and places to eat a fair distance away but we prefer to eat at home anyway. Parking area for two cars is a godsend as the village road is quite narrow to park on.

  • "Loved our stay at Rose Cottage, accommodation was immaculate and we'll kitted out, and a lovely selection of treats were left for our arrival."

The owners were really helpful, especially when we accidentally locked the cottage keys in out car and we're stranded in Buxton. Would highly recommend!

  • "A very attractive cottage, newly renovated and everything to a very high standard."

A very imaginative use of limited space. Set in lovely countryside with walks from the property and off road parking a big plus. Because it is so new, there were one or two small items we would have liked but this was quickly resolved by the friendly owners.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
