Key turning a bit difficult as draft excluder so close, and in dark outside light didn’t come on( couldn’t find a switch). Heating fine in October so didn’t need to light wood burner . Best stocked grocery cupboard we’ve ever come across.

Everything was as described Cottage is clean and cosy, the garden is great with fantastic views over glossop. Kitchen is very well equipped and got everything you will need and more. Nice welcome pack of milk and cake upon arrival. Lounge is cosy and welcoming with log burner, (we didn't use log burner during our stay but everything needed for fire provided). Sofas are very comfy and great to snuggle down and relax on after a full day of walking. Bathroom is great with lovely shower over bath. Main bedroom is very spacious and bed very comfortable. Twin room is snug, but beds are comfy. Only storage in this room are underbed drawers, we didn't find find issue as Main bedroom has large wardrobe that we all used to hang clothes. Wayne was very helpful and gave all information needed regarding key collection, Internet, heating controls etc before our stay. There are lots amazing walks in the immediate and surrounding area of cottage that ourself and our 2 dogs loved. Enjoyed our stay at the cottage so much we've booked again already for next year.

  • "On arrival it looked truly what we wanted but we were disappointed at the lounge as the furniture was very well worn sofas were extremely uncomfortable as they were so well used burnt holes from the fire on the carpet skirting boards next to fire could of done with a clean."

Kitchen fine stair carpet was bagging and not fitted safely .no bannister on right hand side of stairs left open to an accident. Bathroom bedroom were perfect garden was stunning. We left 2 days early due to a Gardner arriving early in the morning when my husband and myself had just got up n not ready for visitors didn't even knock to ask if it was ok very annoying and extremely embarrassing. So with that and very uncomfortable seating etc we left

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay due to the sofa not being to your own personal taste in terms of comfort. They are approximately 2 years old from sofology and provide a firmer base that I prefer and are also more robust for the holiday let market. I noticed you took the bedding for the next guests so I’m not sure if you used the sofa as an extra sleeping arrangement, and maybe that was the issue in terms of comfort. With regard to the carpet, as I explain to every guest, it has been accidentally burnt by previous guests. In fact it had been down one week before this first happened, therefore I am left with a choice. Do I pursue each guest who has an accident for the cost io a new carpet or do I cover it with a rug that I regularly replace, I chose the later option. Finally I’m glad you enjoyed the garden but in order for this to happen it does need to have the grass cut. The date and time of this is dependent on the weather, therefore I cannot guarantee when this happens. I have spoken to the gardener and reminded him to knock first and not to assume people will be up at 10:30am. He apologised and hadn’t realised you were in until you came out to him. I have spoken to the cleaner regards the skirting and she has confirmed the black was coal dust from the coal buckets. I have reminded her to check this area in case she had missed it and it wasn’t from the fires you had. In terms of the stair design I’m afraid the cottage is 600 years old and they were constructed with a rail on side and the first few steps are open to one side, as per the pictures on the website. I know your issue was with your granddaughter, but sadly you had booked for 4 adults and even confirmed that via text. I could have provided a gate if I had known. As an aside 4 adults and a child is beyond my occupancy threshold. Apologies again that these issues impacted you on your holiday. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage along a shared drive with four other properties close by."

That said, the orientation of the cottage made you generally feel isolated and alone (just how I like it). Views from the garden across to the moors. The cottage itself had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable. Quirky walls and ceilings due to the age of the cottage. There were walks in all directions from the village but the two main roads at either end of the lane that the cottage is on were quite busy. At this time of the year when fields are wet I plan to walk round quiet lanes but I didn’t find any close to the cottage. Did find some lovely walks a short drive away. Great size garden for kids and dogs. Nice walk over the moors a five minute walk from the cottage.

  • "This is a very nice rustic cottage that has been carefully extended and retains its charm."

Due to its age, issues such as stairs and head height can be challenging but that’s what you get with such properties. Cottage was comfortable, especially the double bed, generally very well appointed especially the kitchen, which I find with many rentals can be sadly lacking. The large cooker range facilitated a family gathering more than adequately. The heating system worked well but I struggled a little with understanding the remote control. Cake and milk was welcomed upon arrival but no wine as some reviewers have mentioned

  • "The cottage is exactly as described, it’s really lovely, lots of natural light and feels like the owner makes a lot of effort to make it feel like home from home, there was even lemon cake and organic milk in the fridge upon arrival."

Lots of little extra details make it perfect, treats for the dogs, fuel for the log fire, lots of books and games, good tv choices and the internet connection was great. The kitchen is really well equipped, cafetières for coffee and lots of pans to cook with, the range oven is so good! The garden is lovely with and outside light that is perfect for winter nights, and the local area is lovely too. Only things to point out is the garden is perfect for smaller less adventurous dogs, but ours is seemingly part mountain goat and she managed to escape over the stone wall to the right of the cottage very quickly, she came straight back of course and we had long lines with us, but it’s worth making sure you check this is suitable for your dogs, the owner discussed this with us before arrival and was happy to answer any questions. Finally the master bedroom is one of the comfiest beds I’ve had in a holiday cottage, but the singles in the twin room we found extremely hard and had to double up quilts on them to make them soft enough to sleep on…this is entirely personal preference but just something to note it that’s important to you. All in all a lovely lovely stay, highly recommend it and would rebook in a heartbeat.

Good communications by text with the owner, both in advance and while we were there. Pleasant garden for those going in warmer or dryer weathers. The second bedroom is very basic with not even bedside tables, chairs or storage facilities. This might be better as a single room, which would allow room for these facilities. The living room had information abut the local area, reading books etc, but these were all piled haphazardly on the window sill. Perhaps add a bookcase into the room so these can be looked at more easily. A bonus was free access to Amazon prime and netflix channels. Some people might think having a knitting shop in the village is a bonus.

We didn't do any cooking in the cottage so used the two local pubs mentioned in the arrival book and the food was great and dog friendly too. • "We were very impressed with the Cottage."

It was warm, comfortable and animal friendly. The double bed was very comfortable and the shower was superb. Likewise the cottage was very warm with a log fire if it turned chilly. The garden was large and ideal for our large dog. She did manage to escape one evening but we were more vigilant after that. The only downside is that we had hoped to be able to walk to a nearby pub for a drink and a meal. There are two pubs in walking distance but one was on a busy road and the other one we checked on their website and it said it was open. When we walked there (in the rain) it was closed. We were told by a local that they did very good food but that was no consolation! So you need to phone ahead to be sure places are open. Otherwise the location is very good for visiting Glossop, Buxton and there are many local walks for the hounds. The scenery is amazing. Would definitely recommend but unfortunately the drive up from Southampton was rather long so we will probably not be returning. However a very nice cottage with very helpful neighbours who advise on local walks etc. Thankyou for a very relaxing break.

The gardens were enclosed and perfect for our dog. We loved the features in the property. Such comfy bed too! Maps and books about the area helped us to maximise our time in the area and we walked our socks off! The settees in the cottage could do with replacing as they both had tears in them but were comfortable for our needs. We were able to liaise with the host before arrival and during our visit to ask about torches, which were available for us to use as was pretty much anything else we needed as they had thought about visitor needs to make our stay enjoyable. From the pictures available it looked like the cottage had normal ceiling height, he could stand up straight but almost touched the downstairs ceilings but of course the doorframes were very low particularly the main bedroom which was a whole head height lower. I would be grateful if this information was available in the listing just so our time spent in a cottage is not constantly fraught with "watch your head" as it is easy to forget to duck!! The property was very comfortable and with a nice garden if you take a dog. We were provided with fuel for the log burner and the heating was lovely and warm so easily ideal in the winter. The cottage is well furnished with a range cooker and all equipment in the kitchen for meals in if you chose to cook. It is in a lovely area of the high peaks and we were blessed with a bright, sunny day to visit Quarrybank Mill, a National Trust site which was a short drive away. There are also plenty of walks nearby which was ideal. Please feel free to publish the second part of the feedback, the first part relates to Sykes listing.

The place was very easy to find thanks to the owners instructions, it's in the middle of nowhere, it is amongst a few other dwellings but you don't feel like you're intruding, they have a DVD player with DVD's kitchen is great, bathroom & bedroom is great, I can highly recommend

  • "An absolutely perfect cottage."

There is not a negative thing that I can say about this cottage, in fact would go so far to say the best and most well equipped accommodation that we have ever stayed in!! The kitchen was fantastically well stocked with all the utensils and odds and ends that you could want for. The living room has both a DVD player and chromecast (as well as DVDs and boardgames). The rooms were all very clean and was a great home from home. Also loads of tourist leaflets in the property as well as walking trail routes/maps. The location of the cottage is perfect too (the view from the garden is awesome), Glossop and all its shops are only 5 mins away, and to get on the peaks for walking will take you about 3 minutes. The cottage is also only 5 minutes away from the Trans Penine Trail and a short drive from the Longdendale Trail. The cottage is in a cluster of 3 other properties, no problems with parking and the neighbours that we met were very friendly. The back garden is dog escape proof, but our pooch did find a way out the front one - not a problem though as only used the back :) Worth saying that the wifi was actually very good, sometimes with 4 of us on at once, no slowness seen. The overall location is great too in relation to places like Chatsworth, Lyme Park, Buxton, Matlock etc etc Can not recommend this cottage enough...we will certainly come here again :)

  • "I booked this cottage because it was dog friendly with an enclosed garden."

But we had to keep our dog indoors as the garden had numerous places where he could get out. There was only enough parking space for 1 car . The cottage was comfortable with 2 good sized bedrooms comfortable sitting room and well equipt kitchen.

The cottage is not as isolated as I had hoped I was under the impression it was on its own but there are about 4 neighbours all fairly close just not attached. The view out the back door is fab but the front is the neighbours houses.

The owner was very helpful and supplied plenty of local information prior to our arrival. The nearby George & Dragon pub was extremely accommodating for food with excellent bar staff. Our only regret was being unable to stay longer this time.

Great location for Peaks walks. There aren't any good pubs in walking distance, but plenty of good places to eat in Glossop or Stockport. Wet day? Recommend Bramall Hall in Stockport, open all year.

Outside stunning scenery literally on the doorstep, but still only a few minutes drive away from the next town and shops. The only downside: the second bedroom is very small and would probably not be ideal for fighting teenagers, but if your kids are cool, it's fine. :-)
