  • "I stayed at Robin Cottage for 7 nights, 31 August 2024."

I was with my two dogs Vincent and Theo, and my friend Lynn. It is perfect for a stay in the Peak District, I walked my 2 dogs from a different starting place every day - the furthest I had to drive was a mere 15 miles. Suzannes directions for finding Robin Cottage were spot on - thank you! The two welcome baskets were top quality (one for humans, one for dogs), the milk/butter/eggs were especially appreciated. The kitchen is well equipped and sitting at the dining table there's so much history to read on the cottage walls. The sitting room is so cosy - I was grateful that I had packed my dogs fleece throws to cover the beautiful fitted carpet - and their beds too, so that they settled well at night. The Welcome Book was full of fascinating facts on the history of Robin Cottage. Upstairs the two bedrooms had comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. I would love to stay at Robin Cottage in the future.

Dear Candice, Lynn, Vincent & Theo Thank you for the great feedback. I'm so pleased that you all had a good time at Robin Cottage. I would love welcome you all back sometime. Best wishes Suzanne Property Owner

  • "Lovely and cosy character property close to many attractions and trails in the Peaks."

Not in the thick of it but has great access to the bus stop right across the road that'll take you directly into Bakewell & Matlock, much easier than finding a car park space! Really dog friendly, even had a cleaning station outside to keep the house and pups clean. Had some lovely welcome baskets for both us and one for the dog ❤️ Was a really nice touch. Only minor issues was the internet was a bit hit and miss, and for me personally the shower pressure was a bit lacking. All in all, we had a fab mini break at Robin Cottage.

Clean peaceful and fully equipped with everything you could need. Suzanne was very attentive calling us before hand to see if we had any special requirements, the welcome baskets for us and our dogs are a lovely touch and the surprise bottle of wine for our Anniversary was above and beyond. The cottage is ideally located for hopping on a bus to visit surrounding areas if you don't want to drive. Lovely places nearby to eat and have a drink. Local walks to enjoy especially if you have dogs. We noticed that there a re quite a few returning visitors commenting in the review book and we can see why. Robin Cottage is a little gem and Suzanne is a friendly attentive host.

There was a really nice welcome pack that had some essentials like eggs, milk and bread, plus some goodies and dog treats. The guest information book is packed with useful information. She also checked that everything was okay after we arrived. The welcome baskets for us and our two dogs included treats and towels for them, scones and jam for us as well as essentials to get us through the first days thank you Suzanne. The cottage is traditional and has reminders of it's past. The main bedroom had plenty of storage and a comfortable bed and pillows. Bright clean bathroom, kitchen had everything we needed. The lounge is small but okay for two adults and two small dogs to cosy up in on chilly days with a log burner. Small utility room useful for letting dogs dry off in after rinsing them with the hose outside. The 3 steps down into the garden from where you park the car are steep as others have mentioned but the handrail was helpful for me as I have arthritis in my hips. We did two off road safe walks which started across the road and to the right of the cottage just before the Indian restaurant. One way takes you to Whitworth Park and the other to Rowsley shopping village and The Grouse and Claret pub. A great location to drive to other areas and we enjoyed our time at Robin Cottage.

Everything you could ask for inside and out. Well equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfy bed, Free view on television, plenty of books to read, Games and children's DVDs. Towels and bedding provided as well. Furry friends are not forgotten either with treats, towels, dog bowl and hose for muddy paws. A safe and secure garden for dogs and our dog was quite happy there. The road to the front was noisy but with the windows closed this was negligible. Suzanne the owner has put a lot of thought and care into the cottage which we appreciated and we felt if there were any issues they would gave been dealt with straight away. The food basket, milk, butter, bread, cereals, eggs and yummy scones and jam, was a lovely touch which took the immediate stress of going shopping away so we could have a cuppa on arrival. There are some steep steps at the back into the property but we didn't find them a problem. Parking was a bit tight and reversing in was definitely easier but wasn't a big issue. Lovely area with plenty of walks and places to see. We would definitely like to return in the future.

Small living room but good size kitchen/diner/bedrooms and bathroom. It was very comfortable. We were, however, disappointed that the first we knew about the steep steps was after we had fully paid, when we received an email from the owners. On checking the photos on-line, it is clear to me that photo 13 has been deliberately aligned to completely obscure the steps with the lavender plant. My wife is a blue badge holder, and you need to be upfront about this. The alternative front door usage is not viable. I think you need to attend to this matter to avoid any claims for accidents in the future. I do understand that your ownership of the property is quite recent, however. Lastly, the duvets were only 4.5 tog, which proved to be inadequate for this time of year.

Dear Roger Thank you for the constructive feedback, I am always looking to improve the service to my guests. I will indeed make sure that the steps are indicated on the website description. I'm sorry about the duvets, the weather had been so up and down and I thought the low tog was best together with the throws for your stay. Kind regards Suzanne Property Owner

The cottage has secure front and rear gardens and inside it is cosy and still cool in summer given the thick stone walls. Everything we needed was available and the place was well looked after and spotless. The cottage was absolutely perfect for us. Suzanne was in contact a few days before our holiday - by phone and email with clear directions and suggestions of places to visit. Lovely welcome pack for us and the dog. Cottage really warm and cosy, we didn't need to light the log fire at all. Pleasantly surprised that we had no noise from the road at all, which had concerned us at first, but it was fine. Two of the main things we wanted was an enclosed garden (it is small, but perfect as we were out on walks every day); and parking (we found it easier to reverse into the space). There are walks straight from the cottage - our favourite was walking up behind into the woods and then onto the moor. But the cottage is also in a great location for seeing the Peak District. We never spent longer than 30-40 mins in the car getting anywhere. We had long walks every day - Mam Tor; White Edge; Birchen Edge; up on the peaks behind Haversage; Bamford Edge overlooking the Ladybower reservoir. Also wandering round the grounds of Chatsworth House. It was our first visit to the Peak District, and we had a wonderful time, definitely helped by staying in Robin Cottage.

Such a good dog friendly cottage, great to have a secure garden and have the utility room for drying off from wet muddy walks, and our dog loved the treats left for him! Lovely log burner to curl up in front of, and great kitchen kitted out with everything needed, including a really useful welcoming hamper. Only very minor down side was slightly slow shower pressure, but that is nit picking. We had some pretty bad weather whilst there and Suzanne was great, checking in that we were alright. • "Would highly recommend Robin Cottage."

This is the second time we’ve stayed here now. It’s a very clean, comfortable cottage which is well equipped with everything you need and very dog friendly. Nice secure garden with no worry of our dog escaping. We will definitely be returning next year.

  • "A lovely, warm, clean & cosy place to stay."

We didn’t want for anything. The owner calling us a few days before our stay is a lovely touch & made us feel very welcome. The cottage is situated perfectly for so many things to do & see without having to drive far. We would 100% recommend this place & we will definitely be back.

  • "We found Robin Cottage to be very inviting, warm and cosy with the main bed being one of the most comfortable we have experienced."

The welcome packs for both ourselves and our labrabor Izzy were exceptional and very much appreciated. While we chose it because of its proximity to family who live in the area, we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy the wonderful Derbyshire countryside and walking with four legged member /s of the family. It fronts the A6 main road through Darley Dale but with the double glazing any traffic noise was barely discernable and did not in any way spoil our nights sleep. We look forward to using Robin Cottage as the 'go-to' accommodation in this area in the future. Thank you Judi and her Team for making our stay so pleasurable. Ellen, Martin and Izzy Parnell
