  • "The owners could not have been more welcoming."

The cottage was really well appointed and comfortable. We even used the pool a couple of times. We had a lovely week there and consider that we were lucky with the weather when it came to our little trips out. A lovely cottage, a lovely couple and a lovely break. We would highly recommend this cottage..

Thank you so much for your very kind and lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed staying at the cottage and enjoyed the good weather we had. Laurence and Helen Property Owner

  • "A welcoming and cosy cottage."

Well appointed and with the added bonus of an indoor heated pool. The owners Helen and Laurence were perfect hosts, very discreet and accommodating. The cottage looks better in real life than the photo and it is quiet and comfortable. The working farm doesn’t disturb, but the animals (dogs, cats, ducks and goats) are very friendly. We would definitely make a return visit.

Many thanks for your informative kind review. We love sharing aspects of farming without it being intrusive on your holiday. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Laurence and Helen Property Owner

Peaceful, Idyllic surroundings. Charming owners are close-by to sort out any problems. Excellent base for day trips to Peak District towns and attractions. Private pool available is amazing. On the estate you’ll see grazing sheep, a Llama, ducks, two friendly cats, and three extremely friendly dogs. Highly recommend.

Thank you for your wonderful review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay in the cottage and using the pool. Lovely to meet you, and hope you can make it back again. best wishes. Helen and Laurence Property Owner

More than 5* should be 10* Immaculately clean, stylishly decorated. Everything you need to make it a real home from home. The bed was super comfy. Hot shower. The location was perfect for exploring locally. Helen and Laurence are the perfect hosts. Beyond kind. Friendly, welcoming and so accommodating. Our welcome pack was bursting with goodies!! The icing on the cake was to have access to the luxurious heated pool. Just us two!! We couldn't have asked for more. Well , the extra treat was seeing the 5 puppies, Sparkle the Llama, the ducks, geese and the sheep. What a wonderful stay. We highly recommend a stay here..

  • "A lovely getaway cottage in a quiet area off Snelston, we really enjoyed what Adelaide Cottage had to offer."

A very private location, farm animal encounters and a lovely host. More than enough amenities, anything needed was supplied when asked for. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated and very cosy. Helen made sure we made the most of our stay and was so kind. We especially adored the pet cat and ducks. Pool is extremely well kept and we were given plenty of opportunities to use it during the week. Welcomed with complementary goods, the host mentioned she’s planning to introduce a welcome pack for the cottage. The area has nice walks but you must be devoted to walking about at least 40 minutes to reach nearest point of interest - the national trust’s Manor and the Norbury Church. With a car, you will make the most out of the area with quicker access to the surrounding villages and sites. I would recommend taking a bike as we found the nearby roads are perfect for a bike ride. Overall a fantastic and well needed stay, we truly wish the best for the owners on their future endeavours. Thankyou!

Thank you both for your wonderful comments. So glad you had a great holiday. Also, thank you so much for the drawing of Pepper our cat! It's amazing Property Owner

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

A pretty little village, Rocester lies on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, located on a triangle of land between the River Churnet and River Dove. The site of a Roman fort exists today and the village was also mentioned in the Domesday Book. Rocester is home to the famous JCB factory, and the company has landscaped the surrounding area to provide some wonderful walks with some interesting sculptures around the site and the nearby parkland. Most significant of these is The Fossor, which is made entirely of digger parts and is a powerful representation of JCB. Rocester is halfway along the Staffordshire Way which runs the length of Staffordshire and is also at the start of the Limestone Way which goes to Matlock. Close to Rocester is the lovely market town of Ashbourne, and just a short drive away is Alton Towers, with fun for all the family. Explore either the Staffordshire or Derbyshire part of the Peak District National Park with historic houses, market towns, moorland, rolling hills and valleys, all easily accessible from Rocester.
