10 Customer Reviews

  • "Swallow Barn was clean and comfortable with just enough utensils in the kitchen."

The host was very friendly and showed us around her extensive garden and also a guided tour of the art gallery, and gave us tips on the best places in the area to visit. We enjoyed our stay especially being able to sit in the enclosed courtyard by the patio doors.

  • "A fabulous barn conversion but the major thing wrong with it is needs curtains or blinds at the huge windows because when the sun is so hot you can't sit in the room."

When we arrived it was too hot I had to sit in the bedroom and read. Not good at all. It's a long way to walk to the town so driving mainly which I'd rather not do. We enjoyed our stay and the bed was so comfy and it had everything you need, just the window.

  • "A great property kitted out to a high standard with plenty of space and in a lovely location: only thing was heating - a bit too hot and couldn’t really control it."

  • "A warm welcome from Chris and the property was as we expected."

Its a beautiful part of the country and Chris's tip of getting the train from Crewe to Liverpool was very helpful. On the very slightly negative the gesture of milk in fridge would have been appreciated.

  • "Would recommend staying at Swallow Cottage as it is very comfortable and has its own enclosed courtyard."

Owner on the site and friendly and helpful. Within an hour's travelling distance from various National Trust properties and not too far to travel to RHS Bridgewater. Would stay again.

  • "Probably the best self-catering accommodation we have stayed at for a long time."

We came from Ireland by car and needed a base in Cheshire for one week to visit family and friends in November. Swallow Cottage is part of a barn conversion that was completed in summer 2022 so everything is brand new and immaculate. The lounge/diner/kitchen is excellent for two people, the bedroom is spacious with king size bed and the en-suite has a superb shower. The whole unit has under floor heating that is highly efficient as we found during cold weather. We chose this on a balance of cost and quality versus hotel rooms because it gave us more flexibility to do what we wanted when we wanted. Location is on the farm so the owners, who are very helpful, are available if required. The cottage is easy to find using SatNav and close to the main roads. Everything was positive and no negatives
