  • "A very comfortable holiday flat located between Whitchurch and Shreesbury just off the A49 and so ideally situated to visit many interesting places."

The flat itself was well appointed with everything needed for a self catering stay and converted to a high standard. Mind your head on the cooker hood though! Well stocked farm shop on site and the owners Fiona and Rob are very welcoming and the source of useful information. One warning: access to the flat us via 14 steps so people with mobility issues need to consider this.

  • "Enjoyed our stay at The Barn."

The farm shop on site was well stocked with delicious locally produced products. The owners were friendly and helpful and the location is excellent for trips out. The accommodation is well thought out with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. We feel that the steps leading to the property could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues but you are made aware of the number of steps when booking.

  • "The property was good to look at when you walk in but, when you come to use the facilities it was a very different matter, the frying pans were old and did not sit on cooker very well, the pan handles got very hot."

The cooker was gas and lit by matches that were so small you burnt your fingers .The smoke alarmwent off as soon has you lit the cooker. The bathroom was very small and the bath was to big for the space, someone bigger than me would find it very difficult to use. The T.V. had it's Freeview restricted to BBC channels only. The loose rugs on a slippery floor in the bedroom constitute a serious risk of injury heightened by a low level bed.

Dear Maureen thank you for your feedback. I have noted your comments and rectified what I am able to do. You are right the frying pans were a little tired so have now been replaced. I have ordered some anti slip under rugs although that has never been a problem before. I have replaced the gas hob lighter which seemed to have gone missing. Unfortunately we are tied by health and safety regs and have to have that type of smoke alarm in the property and they can be sensitive. The bathroom Im afraid is what it is and for most people it seems perfectly adequate but we do know it isn't particularly spacious. I hope you still managed to get some enjoyment out of your holiday and it wasn't a completely negative experience for you both. Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay, ideal location for visiting Stately homes etc, lovely owners and a nice farm shop on site, one small gripe, the bathroom is very small, with quite a high bath to step into for a shower, I think this should be noted as an elderly/infirm person would have serious trouble getting into the / out of the shower, also a "large" person might find it a tight squeeze in the actual bathroom."

Thanks for your feedback Anthony I will ask Sykes to mention this is in the description of the bathroom. Im so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

We enjoyed our stay at the barn but we thought that the bathroom needed updating the toilet doesn’t clear at the first attempt and the shower is awkward to get in and out of maybe a stand up shower would be a better option

I am glad you had a nice time despite a few issues. Unfortunately where we are in Shropshire has a very high water table and when we have had a lot of rain this affects our septic tanks and makes flushing the loos slow. Sadly we cant do much about it and I think we had had a huge amount of rain at the time. Property Owner

  • "Lovely hosts with a wealth of information on the local area and a really nice property with a great deal in its favour, however, the lack of attention to detail stopped it from achieving a 5 star rating, e."

    G. no non slip bath mat for a bath/shower combination, two broken chairs, mould around the shower partition, if you cannot perch on high bar stool chairs at the breakfast bar a small occasional table has to used for meals, the sitting out area is overgrown with weeds with no chairs which would need to be taken down a flight of stairs from the house to be used. Fully accept the house is located within a business area, however, loading/unloading of vehicles starts around 7am in the car park area which is overlooked by the bedroom window and farm machinery working in adjacent field until 12.30 am was not conducive to a good nights sleep. The property promotes the fact that a farm shop is on the premises which is obviously a draw for prospective customers so a small discount within the shop when used by the ‘guests’ would be a nice gesture. Each small issue above would not deter a return visit, but taken together, they did take the lustre off which would otherwise have been a 5 star rating

We are agile for our ages but others may have problems. The heating seemed to struggle in this weather so the log burner would be essential if staying inside for long periods. DVD player did not work but hopefully owner will sort out problem as we notified them of the fact.

Thank you for staying at The Barn and providing feedback on your stay. We're sorry that you found access to the bath/shower difficult, this is not something that has been mentioned before. We found that the plumber who previously attended had turned the heating system down via the boiler which is why it was not operating fully, we found this out once you had mentioned it. The DVD player is now fixed so thank you for letting us know. We hope that this did not have an effect on your stay. Property Owner

The directions were clear and the location was peaceful and tucked away. The Barn is up a set of stairs and opens up into an open plan living room and kitchen, a home away from home. Comfy sofas, tv and DVD player and a small woodburner are in the living room and the kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed, including strong wifi. The double bedroom had a beautiful view overlooking the fields and plenty of storage, The bathroom is small but works well with an over the bath shower.
