"Fantastic cottage."
Absolutely spotless. All the rooms as described and comfortable.
All facilities working with a book explaining how to operate the dishwasher etc.
Lovely sheltered out door patio and fire pit.
Owners close by and available if any problems (which there wasn't).
Would stay again, definitely.

"A gem of a cottage."
A lovely stables conversion into a large and spacious holiday home. Set in a country garden with a great patio to sit out on and watch time pass by. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped, the hosts were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

"We had a lovely holiday in beautiful scenery."
Cottage was very spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed the antics of the wildlife on the bird feeders. Limited TV channels but our Firestick and Wi-Fi worked fine. Good selection of supermarkets in Hawick. We visited Kelso, Floors Castle, Jedburgh (good food and cakes at Simply Scottish), Melrose, Abbotsford House, Scott’s View and the Wallace Statue. Our first time in the Borders but will not be our last.

"We found the owners to be very friendly, the cottage was nice, clean and quiet."
The sofa was too low for us, we found it difficult to get up, the shower drainage is very slow and is near flooding when you use it. The exit from the driveway is far too steep and is quite a worry when exiting onto the A7, with fast traffic.

"Cottage was lovely and clean and very comfortable."
Everything was great in the kitchen, except the constant humming of the water pump. This was not an issue when we closed the kitchen door. It was much closer to other buildings than on the website photos, although we did not see other people possibly because we were out a lot. The drive onto the main road was very very steep - hard to navigate through the gears whilst watching out for fast oncoming traffic turning the corner. The mirror on the opposite side of the road was a godsend. Very central location for all the places we wanted to visit whilst staying in The Borders.

"The cottage was just lovely, bigger than expected."
I don't think the photos do it justice. The enclosed garden is perfect for us as we have a dog, although it should be noted that it is not immediately outside the cottage. Not a problem though. Having the acces to the river was wonderful. We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders. The cottage is about 8 miles outside Hawick so very rural but it is immediately off the A7 so the road links are excellent - best of both worlds. The cottage is clean, comfortable, just perfect. We were provided with everything we needed including milk, tea, washing up liquid - it's good after a long journey to just have these things there and not need to dig through bags of things we had brought with us. Gina popped down to say hello and could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I wish we had been able to stay longer and I thoroughly recommend this cottage to everyone.

"The cottage was lovely, beds very comfortable and the shower was hot."
It was lovely to sit on the patio in the sunshine as it’s a lovely sun trap, plenty of places to visit from the cottage there were a few negatives
1) we think the garden furniture could do with a lick of paint also they were covered in cobwebs, I had to dust them all off before sitting on them and there were no cushions.
2) the welcome pack in our eyes wasn’t a welcome pack, toilet roll, washing liquid, milk, & 4 biscuits, we have stayed in quiet a few now and the welcome packs we received were beautiful, let’s say a bit of food from there area, we have had flowers, cake, chocolate, wine, etc at the other cottages that we stayed in.
3) the bedrooms it felt like our clothes were damp, not sure if it’s because there is no daylight in there because there are really big trees right outside the windows and the bedrooms were always cold even though we have had a fantastic week with the sunshine.
Apart from those few negative remarks we have throughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage

"Lovely cottage but no proper nearby dog walks."
It is possible to walk 400 yards along a small footpath adjacent to the busy A7 single carriageway road to a gravel track which leads to an uneven farmers field, but not somewhere you could properly exercise your dog. You are able to use the gardens attached to the cottage but when your dog needs longer walks it is not really suitable nor is it secure, As a plus 7 miles away, towards Hawick centre, there is a lovely park which is well tended & ideal for the dog walks but you need to commute. I suppose the six million dollar question is would we go back & the answer has to be yes!

"I feel very badly about writing a bad ‘crit’ for this property because the owners are so friendly and helpful, but really it was not an enjoyable stay – felt somewhat like being in prison because whilst there are lots of good places to go to, it is necessary to take the car (or a bike if you had it there and had an extensive enough cycling range!"
) to get anywhere, and the entrance (or more particularly, exit) is appallingly dangerous, even for a younger and quicker driver than I. I was also puzzled as to why, when I reached home, some 250 miles away, I found an email telling me that I must empty the bins at the cottage and make sure I left it clean and tidy. By that time, presumably, the next residents had discovered the mess and muck you seem to assume I would leave a property. Too late to go back to check/remedy, so why add insult to what was a worrying stay?
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and your acknowledgment of the helpful and welcoming environment we offer. We were pleased to hear that you found the list of recommended places to visit very useful, you had the opportunity to experience the variety the local area has to offer, its scenic beauty and you enjoyed sitting in the garden and the local wildlife. We were however saddened to read that you did not enjoy your stay and that none of your issues were raised with us when we met with you or anytime during your stay. The cottage is set in a beautiful, rural location and not within walking distance of amenities. This is clear in our listing and is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding historic Scottish Border towns and English Borderlands. We also have a map on our listing showing the location of the property. With regards to the exit, there is a traffic mirror placed at the top of the driveway to assist. Regarding the email that you are unhappy with: This is an automated email sent out by Sykes to all guests a day before they depart from a property and certainly not a personally directed message indicating you had caused any concerns. It is unfortunate that there was a delay in you reading the email, but the information provided is sent ahead of departure to try and ensure the changeover at properties is as smooth as possible so there is no delay for the incoming guests. As a regular Sykes customer, you would have been sent this email on your previous visits to other Sykes properties.

"Very cosy, comfortable cottage but the lack of an enclosed garden for my 2 dogs let it down as, at the top of the driveway was the busy A7 road, which made it feel stressful for me incase they ran in that direction."
On the website photo it looked like there was a field nearby to take my dogs into, but the field belonged to a neighbour I think.
We managed to find a forest walk to take the dogs instead.
