"We spent three nights here."
This cottage is small, but beautifully decorated, very well equipped and lots of pleasant things for guests i.e.cake. The owner, Carol, is lovely, surroundings are quiet but lovely, the bed is very comfy, the TV and wifi is great, shower is powerful . There is also a large, well-kept field nearby where you can let your (presumably) well behaved dog off the leash. We will definitely go back.
The only thing to be aware of is that there is actually a wardrobe in the bathroom, with a bar and coathangers. If you hang your clothes on the hooks on the door of the wardrobe then you may not notice that it is actually a large wardrobe door that you can put your clothes into.

Carding Mill Valley is only a short drive.
The use of the paddock for exercising dogs is perfect.
Kitchen is well equipped and the frying pan was excellent!!
The Internet can be slow and drop out but this was stated in the information before booking. The TV has a built in dvd player so a good option would be to take dvds.
The host is very friendly and left eggs from her hens and a lovely home made cake.
The only issue was the the pillows. The were old and stained with no protectors on.
Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry that you were unhappy with the state of pillows. They did have to be replaced a couple of years ago, the underside of the pillow is an off white colour so it can look stained but I can assure you, it's just the colour of the pillows. Thank you once again for your lovely feedback, we hope to welcome you back soon.

"This is the worst cottage we have stayed in due to the bad smell in the house."
When we arrived there was a bad smell of a combination of damp, mould, sewer and ‘wet dog’ smell
We noticed small clumps of black hair all over the carpet so I used a damp cloth and soapy water to lightly clean the carpet. I had to change the water 3 times as it was black. The bedroom carpet had clumps of hair over it too. There was mould on the wall behind the sofa that also smelt. The sofa also smelt bad too. When we used the toilet upstairs there was a very strong smell of sewerage coming up from the sink in the kitchen. We discovered the plumbing had been installed incorrectly. There were several damp spots on the bedroom ceiling that appeared after it rained too. There were slug trails all over the lounge carpet each morning too.
The duvet cover smelt of ‘cheesy feet’
A man cannot stand up to use the loo due to the very low ceiling.
The whole place had an air of neglect. There is no private courtyard as stated in the description as it is a communal turning area for vehicles.
Despite the bad accommodation we enjoyed our holiday in Shropshire as we went out every day, all day, to get away from the cottage
Thank you for your feedback. We are very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at The Wheelhouse. Unfortunately, during your stay we were met with one of the wettest weeks in the area, which may have resulted in a damp smell, this has been checked since your stay and there have been no further reports. Thank you for bringing the mould behind the sofa to our attention, this has now been treated and we will keep an eye on this. . We have consistently received great feedback, and we will continue to welcome guests to enjoy our beautiful rural home.

..eg how to get the hot water on and the hoover wasnt much good was held together with parcel tape and wasnt a hoover that you would have in a cottage to do the job of doing the whole cottage with..i ended up on the carpet trying to make it do ....the owner Carole was very nice and had put the basic bits in to come into plus a cake etc that was very nice...a lovely area with lots of walks...
Thank you for your feedback, I met you on arrival and said if you need anything all you need do is ask. For hot water all you had to do is turn on the tap. The hoover in the property is for my own convenience and only had tape on it as a previous guest had broken it .It would have been helpful if you had put your dog on the booking form.

"We had a marvellous week at The Wheelhouse."
It's a lovely cosy cottage, well equipped and very comfortable. The host Carole lives on the premises and she is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The kitchen is quite small but the porch at the front is kitted out as a utility room and is very convenient for wet coats and muddy boots - not that we had that problem, we were lucky with the weather.
Some people have commented on train noise. It's true that the railway line runs very close to the cottage but we were soon pretty oblivious to the trains going past.
The cottage very well placed for exploring the Shropshire Hills and we simply put our walking boots on and walked out of the cottage for most of our stay, Caer Caradog in one direction and the Long Mynd in the other. One day we got the car out and went to Stipperstones and on another day we caught the local bus to Shrewsbury.
If you fancy this cottage, please bear in mind it is very rural. There is mud, there are spiders and bats and birds, but for us, that's part of the charm.
Thoroughly recommended for a get away from it all holiday.

Property was very clean and came well equipped. Friendly welcome from Carol, the owner, with a lovely cake and fresh eggs from her chickens. Very quiet & peaceful location even although there is a railway line nearby (mentioned by an earlier reviewer) but we barely noticed it.
The only problems arise if you are tall (as I am), then you are likely to find the bedroom & bathroom ceilings very low and and/or if you have arthritis (as I do), then you are likely to have difficulty getting up and down from the lowish settee. However, fit and normal height individuals should have no such problems!

I am very disappointed that Mrs. Marilyn Hopkins felt that the nearby
railway disturbed her stay at The Wheelhouse. The Cottage has been
continually booked, with Sykes, since May and as far as I am aware, she has
been the only person who has been troubled by the trains. There are no
intercity trains on this line. This is not a main line. There are just
one, two and three coach 'shuttle type' passenger trains that pass with
very little disturbance. All passenger trains stop running at night and
do not start again until about 7am. There are a few goods trains but only
about three run at night. Due to engineering work on this line no trains
have been running over the weekends. No trains have been running from
Friday pm to Monday am and this is likely to continue for some while.
The wheelhouse cottage is situated below the level of the railway and there
is a barrier of trees behind the cottage so any noise goes over the top.
Most of my guests appreciate how quiet and tucked away the cottage is. I
am sorry if Mrs. Hopkins had a disturbed stay.
