  • "The location of Rock House is wonderful, right on the beach, though limited access for dogs on a seasonal basis, which is common but still disappointing."

Lovely welcome card & bottle of wine, thank you. The house is comfortable though really is in need of a deep clean, and the en suite has a really damp, cold feel to it. The en suite toilet is also in need of some maintenance, you have to manipulate the ball cock to flush it. Otherwise lovely house, great location.

  • "Leading up to this holiday i was worried after reading the reviews."

Contacted Sykes several times who assured me all the issues would be resolved. A lot of the issues were resolved but still a lot of things i found unacceptable all.of which i have taken photos. Upon arrival the downstairs shower contained several pubic hairs. The back yard was the smallest yard iv ever seen but couldnt let our dog out due to the worst stench of stale urine and it was so grubby looking. The front bedroom bed looked like someone had been lying in it it was so creased. We tried to sleep in the back bedroom as the front bedroom was too bright with a security light next door left on but couldnt use that room due to the stench of damp and mould which was all along the patio doors in that room. There was hairs and dust of previous guests along the skirting boards and thick clumps of dust hanging out under the radiator. To top all this after making a large food shop we found that the oven did not work so a lot of our shopping went to waste. There was no information pack or guest book. Felt like the property had no care taken of it as recent reviews state it has been up for sale. I contacted Sykes several times via the online chat only to be ignorned. I thought booking with such a large national company we would be looked after. How wrong i was.

  • "We had a lovely week at Rock House and would recommend the property and location."

There were two things that need attention, the first is a slight smell of drains in the entire downstairs area which was there all week and the second was a rusty broken sun umbrella on the balcony which was unusable and a shame as the fabulous balcony and sunloungers are noticed by every passer-by.

  • "I have stayed in this property twice before, but was very disappointed with Rock House this time."

The ground floor shower couldn’t be turned off, so you could hear running water all the time and from other feedback this is an ongoing problem. Two of the kitchen chairs were broken and very wobbly to sit on. The freezer was completely frozen up, so that you couldn’t open the draws, it took me over an hour to defrost it, as we had a delivery of groceries including frozen items arriving. The shower in the en-suite was very dirty, the shower hose which should be chrome was black, I cleaned part of it hopefully the cleaners will notice the difference and clean the shower properly. The ground floor seating area didn’t look like it had been swept for some time, there was even ice cream wrappers stuck to the window sill. There didn’t appear to be any attention to detail in any of the cleaning. There was a sewage smell coming from the boiler room, you couldn’t close the door as it didn’t shut properly so you could smell it all the time. Overall the house looked tired and in need of some TLC, I know the property is on the market but this is no excuse for not maintaining the property as guests are paying to stay in this house and expect a certain standard for a property in this price range. I had a lovely holiday in Amroth as it is a lovely village and my previous holidays in Rock House were wonderful.

  • "We booked this cottage for it's location and sea view which we did get."

But the description on your site is not accurate in many ways of the cottage. This could be a lovely cottage but needs some money spending on it but it's up for sale and we too were asked numerous times about the property while trying to relax. The fan above the oven didn't work there was no instructions on how to work the oven. The back yard we couldn't let the dog out there it wasn't very nice it was full of green algae. The downstairs shower constantly dripped. Amroth is a beautiful little village with nice pubs, cafe & beach.

  • "The house is very comfortable with amazing views."

The sun is on the balcony all day. A great pub (Amroth Arms) with lovely food 100 yards away, two more bistro type bars and a shop in the same road, so everything within easy walking distance. The car park also 100 yards away and only £30 for the week. Dogs are allowed on the far end of the beach, it was great. The only negative was after a day out on the Tuesday, we got back and a large garish ‘For Sale’ sign had gone up on the downstairs terrace seating area. We spent the rest of the week with people walking past gawping at the house and us (we were even asked questions about it!). I do think it would have been polite for the owners and Sykes to let us know this was going to happen. I also think future guests should be advised about it. That aside, wonderful holiday!

  • "The location and views are amazing."

The kitchen and bathrooms were cleaned to a high level, but the furniture in the bedrooms needed cleaning before we could put things onto it. The windows in the two front rooms can not be opened or closed properly. So you can hear people talking and road noise, but worse of all the wind blowing of the sea comes through the windows. Especially when storm Nelson hit. I have photos to show what I mean. The fridge fascia is damaged so it’s difficult to see the temp. The cooker hud is difficult to use as its buttons have somehow dropped down. The chairs on the top veranda are rusted shut. So not the four star rating we normally receive when we use you and your sister company Lakelovers. We did notice while in Tenby that the property is up for sale and that might explain the lack of maintenance but the cleaning should be of a high standard in all the property not just the kitchen & bathrooms. I will tick not to publish this review as i would like to give the owner the feedback so they can look into these issues without it effecting their income stream. I do have photos of the cooker hood and fridge if you require them for your records.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Rock House."

The property is a lovely little gem and the perfect place to relax by the sea. The only gripe we had was the absence of a travel cot and high chair. We contacted the owner before to check as they weren't listed and were told they don't supply them due to parents preferring to bring their own. While this may be true for some people we would really have appreciated them being there as finding the luggage space for both was difficult (we had to borrow someone else's high chair as ours doesn't fold down enough). This is the first property we have come across which doesn't provide them. From premier inns to air bnbs and cottages its pretty standard. For a small outlay it would really improve the experience for parents to have the option to use the ones supplied or bring their own if they can/wish

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Rock House, and do hope that you might consider coming back again in the future. Thanks for your comments regarding the travel cot and high chair, which you will be pleased know we hope to be able to offer in the next few weeks. Property Owner

The kitchen paper dispenser was broken. A kitchen cupboard kickboard was very badly replaced and a heater didn’t work. I always think that flowers or fruit to welcome go down well. There weren’t any.

Hi= thanks for the feedback. This was our first week of letting and we'll try to put these things rights asap. Rock House is one of the best positioned cottages in the UK with incredible views and we want people to enjoy it to the utmost. Property Owner
