  • "Doirewood is in a wonderful location, surrounded by trees and nature."

It's a most welcoming and peaceful setting with enough space between lodges so that you don't feel cramped in or overlooked. The lodge itself exceeded expectations; it was clean. comfortable, welcoming, everything was working ( including the WiFi ) and amenities ticked all our boxes. I would heartily recommend Doirewood as a base if visiting this region of Wales.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We are glad you had a great time and hopefully will see you again. Kind regards, Phil & Jackie Property Owner

Penlan is a quiet peaceful site and hopefully the outdoor pool will be open soon because sadly it was still under maintenance when we were there. Highly recommend China Kitchen Chinese take away in Newcastle Emlyn.

Thank you for your feed back and we haven't been to chinese but definitely will now. hopefully see you again, hope all is well. Property Owner

  • "We have had a lovely stay here this past week."

The cabin is very cosy, warm and homely. It was nice to arrive and find milk, butter etc had been left for our use. Due to the weather we didn’t get to muse the outside space, however from the windows we saw lots of different birds, rabbits and squirrels. Just something to mention, the bunk beds are child’s size and not suitable for an adult to use unless they’re quite short, under 5ft. As we took 2 older children with us it meant that our daughter had to sleep in the bunk but because of its size she didn’t sleep well at all. This isn’t a complaint or criticism but it’s worth noting if you’re considering this accommodation. Our hosts were super helpful and I have no reservations in recommending this accommodation. Thanks for a lovely week.

  • "No complaints about the property, it was as described, a credit to the owners in a lovely setting, but in the advert it described the coffee lounge which never opened, and more important a reception which never opened and no staff available, and as we had a medical emergency during our stay with NO mobile phone coverage it was a cause for concern, perhaps Sykes should carry out a little more investigations before advertising non existent facilities."

Thank you for feedback - so glad that you enjoyed the cabin and the setting. We were sorry to hear that the Reception was unmanned during your stay - generally there is a caretaker/manager available at all times, either in the office or on site. We will investigate with the site as to opening times of the coffee shop - kind regards Phil and Jackie ( owners) Property Owner

  • "A well positioned and equipped cabin on a very peaceful site Phil and Jackie the hosts, were so helpful prior to arrival and we found everything as described."

Although we couldn't use all the facilities the cabin offers (BBQ, pizza oven etc) because of the weather that didn't stop us having a great stay. We would definitely stay again!

So glad you had a great stay, despite the weather! Hopefully you’ll have the opportunity to use the rest of the outdoor facilities in better weather another time. Property Owner

  • "A lovely lodge with all the amenities that you can possibly think of."

The hosts Phil and Jackie were very approachable and on hand to answer any queries. We were a party of four adults and a dog. We explored all the surrounding area of West Wales with the lovely beaches and forest walks. We tried out the three pubs that are located within the local area of the park, White Hart, Three Horseshoes and Nags Head. All three served lovely pub food and are dog friendly. One of our favourite places to eat was Pizza Tipi in Cardigan. Would definitely return.

  • "We have had a lovely stay at the cabin."

It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and although it was cold outside it got cosy inside really quickly with the fire in the living room. The beds were comfortable as was the modern living room furniture. The owners had provided everything we needed including instructions for using every single appliance, dog treats, bird seed for bird watching and a thoughtful pack of biscuits, butter and milk for our arrival. The Wi-Fi in the cabin was brilliant and our kids spent the week happily connected. The enclosed veranda was stocked with a BBQ and pizza oven which would have been great to use when warmer weather. The text and call from the owners before our stay also made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend and hope we can return one day. Thanks Phil and Jackie

A paradise for birdwatchers!

Take advantage of the two off-road parking spots, before walking up the stone pathway to the property where there is three steps up onto the decking, which surrounds the lodge in sunshine, and has furniture to embrace some alfresco dining, as well as a new BBQ and pizza oven.

As you walk through the front door, you will step into the amply-equipped kitchen, before following through into the sitting room where you can relax and unwind with the Smart TV, or get the electric fire on to warm up your toes after a long day.

The single-storey lodge also has three bedrooms; two small doubles and a child's bunk bed, making flexible sleeping arrangements for a family trip, along with a shower room, so you can prepare for the day ahead.

Penlan Holiday Park has a heated swimming pool, a coffee lounge and a children's activity centre on-site, there is also Crazy Golf and a dedicated dog walking area, but if you can tear yourself away, visit the bustling market town of Newcastle Emlyn which offers an array of shops, both unique local producers and larger chain stores, such as designer clothes, crafts and jewellery, antiques, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and a ruined castle.

Surrounding Newcastle Emlyn is the beautiful countryside, with Cenarth Falls nearby, but Cardigan and the Cardiganshire/Pembrokeshire coastline is also just a short drive away so you have the opportunity to visit Cardigan Island Farm Park, the wonderful sandy beaches, or take a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals at New Quay.

Slightly further afield there is the town of Carmarthen, Dylan Thomas' Boat House in Laugharne, paintballing, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Oakwood Theme Park and train rides at Henllan, along with an array of castles, mills and craft centres.

For an unforgettable trip to South Wales, choose Doirewood.
