  • "We absolutely loved the Rock House."

Its in such a beautiful spot with amazing views and the house itself is so cosy, nicely decorated and feels luxurious. It was extremely clean on arrival and communication with the rental team was great. We had one minor issue which was fixed immediately. The town of Fishguard is absolutely lovely and the location of the house in walking distance to everything is just perfect. We were 2 families with 2 dogs, and the dogs had the time of their lives. The house is very dog friendly with a basement area for the dogs which leads onto the garden. Literally my only suggestion would be to get some better garden furniture as a picnic bench is not a place you can really relax and drink up that view! Also the check out time of 9.30am is way too early and the cleaners were waiting on the doorstep at 0925! Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • "The house is beautiful and well equipped in a beautiful location, a short walk to the shop and pubs."

There are a few things which would make the house even more perfect. There are weeds around front of house and at back door leaves etc which has blown across, these are not fresh and cobwebs around doors. The light fitting on the living room higher level one of the shades are broken, this would look much better if the other two were removed. The two travel cots also need replacing, one has mould inside and the other one of the sides does not lock. The tap in the bathroom as mentioned in other reviews needs fixing as rotates when you are trying to turn it on. The beds are comfy with beautiful bed linen and views from windows at the rear of the house are stunning. These are niggily things that are easily fixed. We had a fabulous time and would recommend this house.

  • "We had a great holiday with our family."

The children were thrilled and excited by the house. We all fitted in. Dishwasher and washing machine were welcome. Garden was enormous. View of the sea was spectacular. Location was near to centre of town.

  • "A great space for a medium sized group, with comfortable rooms and nice open common spaces."

Could have perhaps been a tad cleaner in parts of the kitchen but I can appreciate that from time to time it can get a bit dusty in areas. Would recommend!

  • "Property has beautiful views BUT that does not make up for failings."

Arrived to overflowing bins with black bin liners stacked up in shed. Called owners and this sorted quickly unlike other issues. Taps in shower room spun round, shower did not drain properly. Linen on my bed had dirty dog paw prints so changed and new linen also had paw prints. A towel in linen cupboard was absolutely filthy. Removed all linen from all beds on leaving to revealed stained mattresses. Carpet frayed in one bedroom door. A note written in info book stating previous guest damaged hdmi lead so no dvd but why was this not replaced. Paying k2.5 for a week and a £10 lead not replaced is not acceptable. The house needs money spent on it, a repaint, new linen and carpets, plumbing sorted and a deep clean as dusty and mirrors grimy. I felt I had let my family down but despite the property problems we managed to have a fun week. Have been refunded £200 but does that really excuse owner's tardiness in checking for any faults at her property. Can not recommend unless an overhaul is carried out.

Enough space for a family of 7 and the dog. Beautiful view.

  • "Very comfortable house with stunning views from the living room across the harbour at Fishguard."

All bedrooms are a good size and some interconnecting rooms which might suit families. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen so easy to cater at home. We loved our week here and would highly recommend this property. Room for 3 cars too on a very sloping drive!

  • "So enjoyed our week in Rock Cottage."

We waited 3 years to be here since Lockdown and three of us now recovered from major health issues. Worth waiting for. Even enjoyed the storm which stopped the ferry from sailing for 2 days. Great views. Great location. Much weather. This stretch of coast is our favourite in Britain. Very special. Been coming here since I was 7yrs old. Now 10 of us in our party. A very special week. Apologies if we didn’t empty the bin. Not sure I emptied the fridge fully. The road was being closed and workmen only gave us 15mins to load up.

  • "The location and views from the property are superb."

Unfortunately the cleanliness was disappointing. Although we know this is a dog friendly property there was excessive hairs on the carpets and floors. The sofas badly needed a clean, the oven was filthy and we had to clean it before using. This is a lovely house and the owners were quick to respond when we had an issue with lack of cutlery and a shower problem. It just needs a really thorough clean and some attention.

Please accept our apologies for the issues you experienced at Rock House. Following your feedback we have now been able to address the problems that you raised. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house in a beautiful location!"

Lots of space for two families with children. The view from the lounge is amazing! Great location with lots of great beaches in easy driving distance. Fishguard itself is a lovely town, highly recommend The Royal Oak Pub. Lovely food and a great atmosphere. Overall a lovely stay at Rock House. A couple of things to make a great stay a perfect one would be to improve the facilities in the Garden, trimming the trees would definitely make the most of the view. Also providing a BBQ and additional Garden furniture would have encouraged us to make the most of the outside space.

  • "We had a lovely time the house was really nice and well looked after I would say the garden could do with a spruce up as it could be really lovely with those amazing views!"

We had everything we needed to village is lovely and has some really beautiful walks! I would just say it was a rush in the morning trying to get out so early for 9am and we couldn’t check in until 6 on arrival which is very late when you have children.

If you want a 6pm check-in, it should be reasonable to expect a midday check-out time. The cleaner arrived at 8.45 and was waiting outside to get in.

  • "This beautiful cottage was the perfect base to enjoy North Pembrokeshire."

It is cosy, wonderfully situated and very well equipped. We really appreciated the wide range of kitchen equipment and plentiful tableware as we did a lot of cooking. There were plenty of cleaning products under the sink. The deep bath and plentiful hot water was also enjoyed, as well as the stunning views. We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed eating outdoors and using the garden. The drive is extremely steep and we chose to park on the street but could always find a space. Fishguard is a lovely little town and we particularly enjoyed the bread and pastries from Nourish (Weds- Sat) and the crab sandwiches down at the harbour. The owners left lots of useful information about places to go, eat and explore. I would definitely go back.

  • "I don’t know how else to contact you so am writing on the feedback form."

We have stayed in many welsh cottages in the last few years and this is by far the worst….. despite the ridiculously late check in (due to extra cleaning for covid) the place was not clean. The table was dirty and sticky, and the bathrooms had been wiped at best. The worst however was that the middle bedroom had gentleman’s clothes left in the drawers and tablets in another drawer. The tablets were found by my 5 year old daughter!!!!!! Luckily she was sensible enough to bring them to me and not eat them as sweets otherwise this could have been a very different email……. This is shocking On top of this the property is so sparse - no welcome basket, no cleaning products not even any washing up liquid. We have never stayed anywhere so basic in terms of what is provided. The property is also in need of redecorating and some tlc as it is very tired……. Such a shame as the property and its location are fantastic, but the lack of cleanliness and lack of supplies were a serious letdown. Based on how much we paid for this property (and the fact that we lost over half a days holiday due to your extreme check in and check out times) this was very disappointing. We will be checking out on Saturday morning as requested but sadly would not stay with your company again based on this experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review about your recent experience at Rock House. I am so sorry to hear that so many elements of your holiday were disappointing and I will act on your feedback so that other guests don’t experience the same. Property Owner

Layout of the house is bit esoteric but was fine for us. We had a problem with the WiFi but the owner was extremely responsive and it was solved. Beds could be a bit more comfortable and less squeeky but otherwise it's great. If you have trouble with stairs you would struggle in this house though.

  • "We were disappointed in the furnishings in the living room/lounge."

The sofas were very grubby and had a few tears, need refurbishment. The garden was also In need of attention - loose paving stones, needed sweeping. Patio umbrella would have been a great addition.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Rock House. I am sorry that the sofas were in a poor condition, this is something that we are aware of. At the end of 2020 we ordered 3 new sofas but unfortunately a few months later the company went into administration. After many months we received our money back. New sofas have been ordered but this time we are facing long delays with delivery but hope to receive them soon. I have passed on your comments to the gardener. Property Owner
