  • "A lovely cosy cottage."

Very calm atmosphere. Pitch black when you go to bed…. Just perfect. Beds extremely comfy. Just my observation, but maybe provide cushions/throws for the sofas. A mirror in right hand side bedroom. We had a fab time so thank you very much.

Penperlleni 1.6 miles.

Set on Goytre Wharf in Llanover, Monmouthshire lies Aqueduct Cottage, traditionally-styled cottage with a woodburning stove and exposed stone.

As its name suggests, the cottage has views of the aqueduct which is a stone’s throw away, making an ideal escape for canal boat enthusiasts, couples, friends, or a family.

Step into the kitchen/diner, modest and well-equipped with everything you need to rustle up tasty dinners including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and dining seating for four guests.

From here, the sitting room boasts lovely views and the toasty fire to enjoy after a day of walking.

Completing the ground floor is a shower room, where you can freshen up before bed.

Upstairs the character continues with more exposed stone walls in the double and twin bedrooms.

After resting, wake up to breakfast and coffee which you can enjoy in the enclosed garden while your four-legged friend stretches their legs.

Just across the road you can find a quaint café, where you can treat yourself to a light bite while watching the canal boats go by.

Heading away from your base, you can find shops and pubs in the nearby Penperlleni, including the rustic gastropub Goytre Arms Penperlleni.

For a spot of local history, head to Ponypool for the Shell Grotto Pontypool Park and the Torfaen Museum while outdoor enthusiasts may want to take a picnic to Tirpentwys Nature Reserve or enjoy the scenery at Pen-Y-fan Country Park.

Not to forget the glorious Brecon Beacons National Park right on your doorstep where you can hike and explore on foot or by bike.

For more hustle and bustle throughout your stay, you can make your way into Newport for plenty more restaurants and shops, or further into the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

A charming cottage in a fascinating area, choose Aqueduct Cottage.
