  • "A lovely stay in a wonderful location."

We brought an airbed with us because our elderly dog would have struggled with the steps leading to the bedroom. So I slept on that with her. The property was very clean and tidy, microwave worked well but didn't use the hobs. Two comfy chairs and good selection of books. The only quibble was no TV, but there was Netflix and Catch-up. All in all a very cosy venue that I would recommend in a heartbeat.

  • "Excellent base for walking the Offa's Dyke Path, which passes just outside the door."

The Nutshell is compact, quiet and comfortable. Cooking facilities are not great! The owner had no idea how to operate the Microwave/cooker combi and merely referred me to the guide in the Info pack, which was incredibly complicated!...so much so I never used it. The 2 hob rings were underpowered taking 20+ minutes to reaching boiling point, far too slow. Everything else was absolutely fine though some beer glasses would be helpful! The views from the farm are fabulous.

  • "Lovely place in a rural working farm."

The owners are delightful, the views from the accommodation stunning. And we enjoyed a short circular walk centered on Offa's Dyke National Trail which goes straight through the farm!

  • "The owner provided a warm welcome to the Nutshell tucked into Grange farm on the spectacular farm traversed by Offa's Dyke."

Wonderful early spring weather and stunning views made this a very nice place for a short break.

  • "The Nutshell is well placed for touring the area which is both interesting and beautiful."

The kitchen facilities were adequate, however the markings on the knobs controlling the hotplates had worn off and we needed more kitchen utensils such as large serving spoons and spatula. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, sharing their knowledge of farming and the local places of interest. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Nutshell.

  • "A lovely stay in a sweet annex."

The views and surrounding area was just magical. So lovely being on a working farm. We stayed for a full month as we are in between selling and buying our house - would have been amazing to have a dishwasher, but not a problem without. Bed is a little squashed in the eaves and had a few head banging moments in the morning! But honestly was such a wonderful stay.

  • "In a nutshell The Nutshell was perfect!"

Lovely cottage in gorgeous surroundings and so relaxing and peaceful. The hosts were lovely, there if you needed them but not intrusive in any way. Fields for as far as the eye could see with walks on the doorstep which my border terrier loved. Monmouth town a short drive away a really quaint little town with independent shops and dog friendly cafes. A special shout out to Roger the hosts cat who always greeted you with a purr whenever he was passing by. Thank you so much The Nutshell for a relaxing recharging week x

  • "Oven/microwave too high as partner could not see the controls."

Floor looked clean but was dirty when wiped with wet cloth. NO mop or broom available to be able to clean up. Only dust pan and brush found on last day as hidden under the cupboard. Alas the bed was too soft.

  • "The hosts were so friendly and knowledgeable about the area."

Had a very relaxing time and navigating the narrow country roads was no issue. The nutshell is very well equipped with an amazing microwave oven that allowed us to cook a wide range of meals… the recipe booklet was a nice touch. Great place for pets, our dog loved meeting the other animals and thoroughly enjoyed the walks and castle visits. There’s plenty to do nearby. Looking forward to a return visit.
