"Deep clean as lots of cobwebs and dead spiders."
Fridge hadn't been cleaned. No toilet paper left, it is miles from a shop so we thought that was rather mean. Lots of rules in ema from the owner. Play stuff from previous visitors left laying in the garden. A little more attention to detail is required. This shouldn't be difficult as you have to arrive after 4pm and vacate by 10am.
Thank you for the feedback We send every guest an email with the house appliances how to use and what to do with keys, rubbish etc There are some instructions on parking as we are on private land and not public road The house is in the countryside and regular cobweb checks are carried out, the owner regularly visits to address maintenance issues We also put out tea and coffee facility and some toiletry items to get you started. There are two shops a spar garage and Co op a mile down the road, tesco in Saundersfoot , Asda and Aldi are in Pembroke dock, which our information provided let’s you know about We also provide information on recommended entertainment venues and restaurants giving information about the local area which previous guests have welcomed, in a similar way to other cottages we’ve rented out ourselves I apologise if you felt the information was too lengthy. It is not compulsory to read. In the garden in summer there is a well kept sizeable garden with country views with a swing ball, patio and bbq to enjoy at your leisure There is also excellent internet and now tv package with games to play for rainy days inside the house If there was anything else you need to know please get in touch with me so I can address your concerns Thanks Property Owner

"Quiet location clean."
Owner contacted me by e mail before we arrived with useful instructions. Saundersfoot was great to visit.

"A pleasant property - in a quiet and good location for local attractions."

"After driving and being on the road for over eight hours, we finally arrived at the cottage."
We had just boiled the kettle when we received a phone call from the owner of the cottage initial of thinking they were phoning to welcomers instead she was phoning us to reprimand and threaten us, the very ignorant neighbours had phoned her to complain that we were encroaching on her property. We were not made aware that that was an access road only and we had to immediately park on the very small gated drive. On the phone call the owner did not enquire about our drive welcomes to the cottage or thank us for booking. She just said you need to move your car. You’re encroaching on the neighbours property otherwise you’ll have to park on the road. We were so shocked my husband felt like getting in the car and driving another nine hours to take us back to the north of England, I would be kind to say that the property was very tired however it was dirty. The carpets were filthy. Curtains were dirty. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall the wardrobe panel I had to screw back on because that was also hanging off they were Maltesers , stuff down the side of the dirty leather corner suite rug in front of the fire had a burn mark on it and it was really filthy. The corners turned up and frame which could be a trip hazard pulled one of the tables out to rest our drinks on and it was real sticky and dirty it felt like there was something under the rug when I walked on it lifted it up and there were bits of wood and bits of plastic game pieces or toys under there so clearly this is a regular thing. It’s systemic. Only one good thing to say the beds were comfortable, but because the cottage was so filthy, I stripped them back to check mattresses and things because I did not want to sleep , on a dirty bed as I said the bed was fine. I do require somebody from Sykes cottages to get back to me as soon as possible
I received a call from the guest after they had returned home. At no point did the guest contact me prior to leaving in which we could have answered queries or dealt with any issue they had We do communicate to guests prior to arriving that our driveway is only big enough for two standard cars. This guest arrived with a car and a van. We had to ask them to move the van, as the land around us is private and not public road I did not pick up from our conversation the guest was upset, it was all very polite and pleasant On inspection of the property it was found to be clean and tidy after the guest stay We have a log burner so you do get the small amount of tinge on the rug. The rug is new and not necessary to throw away The house is checked by the owner every 5/6 weeks Any maintenance issues are always dealt with promptly We have a long term experience in holiday rental This guest might be more suited to hotel visits for their future holiday plans Property Owner

"Cottage was in a peaceful environment."
Clean and all amenities are provided. Few more larger pots would be nice to cook for a 4-5 people. It's ideal for couples to relaxed. Children might want a play area to keep them occupied. Overall peaceful place.

"Owner was very responsive when we had minor problems."
Lovely location, great selection of games for rainy days.
-
"Lovely, spacious property."
Excellent location for local visitor attractions. Well equipped kitchen and facilities such as cot bed and high chair were really useful.
-
"Lovely property."
.. quiet location but close to the beach and local family friendly venues. House was very clean and beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and plenty of plates etc for 4 adults and a toddler. Lovely living room / dining room space and superb enclosed garden space.

"We had an amazing time whilst staying here, everything we needed was available and we felt very comfortable and at home."
The bungalow was in a great location as it was quiet but also in close proximity to lots of great places to visit. Would definitely recommend and at some point hope to revisit.

"A very enjoyable stay in clean, comfortable and peaceful surroundings."
The only things that we found a little frustrating were the kitchen hot water tap which only dribbles water out, and the controls on the electric radiators aren't the easiest to understand. However, we wouldn't allow these issues to stop us from returning!

"Second time staying here and we absolutely loved it again!"
Perfect location for lots of fun days out, peaceful and quiet with lovely views and a fab enclosed garden with trees - perfect for our little one to run around in. Lovely house, has everything you could possibly need and again being all ground floor is perfect for a little one to run around in without worrying about stairs. We would love to visit again next year. Thank you!

"Lovely cottage, was cleaned to a high standard and perfect location, was like a brand new place."
Will definitely be staying here again one day! Highly recommended

"Overall the property was as described, and, we felt, good value for money."
There will always be those who carp about something or the other, although we found very little occasion for this! A milk jug would have been useful! The single double bed (apologies for the limitations of the English language) was extraordinarily comfortable. The hob required better instructions to make it easily useable, although my wife and I think it is inherently disfunctional, but perhaps it is we who are. The real disappointment was the large brown leatherette settee, rather unsightly and uncomfortable.

"Property lovely and clean, location good."
No logs were provided for the fire which was a shame for the first night Noisy mice in the loft above the living room was very loud The travel cot provided does not come with a proper mattress for baby. Bring your own.
Thank you for the feedback. We have investigated your issue. With us being set in the countryside wildlife can on occasion find a tiny hole to get in the loft, which is completely locked from access. There is no way they can get in the main house, the house is regularly inspected and we have full time cleaners. We are in Autumn and the weather has started to get colder. I have dealt with this issue as you have brought it to my attention. As explained I had stayed at the property for maintenance purposes myself only a few weeks ago, and hadnt heard anything, I was also there to complete our maintenance program this weekend, again we had the quietest of nights. Logs are not part of the package with it being self catering accommodation, although the facility is there for you to use as you wish. I could have recommended a provider had you brought it to my attention. It was also explained that the cottage had a travel cot only which was communicated to you prior to your arrival, not a full cot for babies. We do hope you still had a great holiday in Pembrokeshire. Set in countryside and in a semi rural location, and only a few minutes from the beach. Its always been our favorite place to be. Property Owner

"Great facilities all as advertised and mostly clean but could be better!"
Alot of handles and surfaces were grubby and a few things need a run through the dishwasher before using. The carpets and floors were very clean though. Bedrooms were nice with lovely rustic furniture and high quality beds and matresses. Bathroom was adequate and clean. The front living area was OK but had a very tired old leather sofa which was uncomfortable, and a few bits of furnitire seemed worn. However some items were very new like the table lamps. The carpets throughout were a bit tired and worn also, with some frayed edges. Location was lovely and peaceful, very pretty, and convenient. Garden was well looked after with a good BBQ , but there was a big drain shaft with a cover only held in place by large stones. Not recommended for children with learning difficulties, or any young children strong enough to move the stones for that matter! The next door neighbours who we gathered were the owners of the cottage we rented (though we could be wrong), would often make drilling sounds at various points during the day. They kept it to a minimum and in daytime hours, but it was annoying nonetheless. Also, on one occasion the owners decided to come and mow the back lawn whilst we were out. I suppose it's great that they were keeping things tidy, but perhaps they need to understand that this is a slight intrusion and invasion of privacy? You don't rent a property to have someone potentially peering into your windows. What was wrong with getting this done after we vacated the premises on the final day at 10:00? This is not a hotel, it is a property rented for a week where complete privacy is to be expected. We won't be returning as a result of this.

"Lovely peaceful location, tucked away up a corner of a residential site."
Very comfortable and full-facility cottage. Great location for exploring Pembrokeshire - very quickly at the coast or onto fast roads to go further afield. We very much enjoyed our two weeks here - very relaxing and pleasant place to be.
-
"Loved the bungalow and facilities, close to Saundersfoot where we love."
-
"Couldn't give 100% only because the windows were in need of a good clean outside."
No point in having great views if the windows are grainy.
Thanks for the great score rating, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. I have raised your concerns regarding the windows which has now been dealt with. Property Owner

"This is a well equipped comfortable cottage with everything you might need."
We have been doing cottage holidays for many years now and this is definitely one of the best. The owner contacted me before we arrived with a very useful email of instructions for the appliances which was great. The furniture and beds were of a high quality and were very comfortable. The location was ideal too.

"The house was very clean, very well equipped, and very comfortable."
A great location for exploring Tenby & the stunning surrounding area.
-
"We had a great break at 4 Hanbury Lodge."
It was spotlessly clean and the ready laid fire was a lovely touch to walk into. It was well equipped with comfortable beds, fluffy towels and a lovely sofa. We will be certainly booking again!
-
"The accommodation was perfectly clean."
With everything you need for a holiday stay. A peaceful location. A short drive to Tenby, Saundersfoot and a number of lovely South Wales beaches.

"We have usually rented holiday cottages and homes for all our UK holidays over the last 20 years."
This is the first time that we have rented a property through Sykes who provided excellent and timely communications and continually kept touch to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We will most certainly choose Sykes for our next break. The property was absolutely perfect and very well maintained. It was just out of the way and exceedingly quiet which is just what we were needed. The owners had kindly left notes and recommendations on various restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets and local attractions. Our only criticisms were minor – a loose toilet seat and a double duvet on a king-size bed. However, the pleasure of staying in this property more than made up for this. Hopefully, we will be able to stay at 4 Hanbury Lodge again. All in all, a great experience which we hope to repeat in the near future.

-
"A lovely find in a beautiful area of wales."
Great location for touring Pembrokeshire. Hanbury house has everything you need and is well presented. The garden is lovely to relax in after a day at the beach.
-
"The Lodge has everything you need, extremely clean and comfortable."
The Lodge is in a quiet location, ideally situated for Saundersfoot and Tenby, a truly great location.
-
"Very well equipped and clean bungalow and well located to explore Pembrokeshire and local facilities and attractions."
Local recycling of waste products could do with further clarification as it differs from Shropshire. Great holiday and location.
-
"4 Hanbury Lodge is an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and countryside."
The cottage is excellently equipped and comfortable, with the added benefit of garden and private parking. It was spotlessly clean on our arrival, with a helpful guide to the various heating and hot water systems, and some great recommendations for local eateries and attractions. One small point - the directions to the cottage need to be amended - the final section (after turning at the Cross Inn Pub traffic lights) direct the driver to '..head towards the country and Hanbury Lodge is on the right hand side before you get to Jeffreyston' - in fact it is on the left, just before a sharp corner.
-
"The house is excellent."
Location is brilliant, facilities were all exactly what we needed. We'd definitely stay again in the future.
