  We found the property to be warm and welcoming with thoughtful touches upon our arrival of fresh milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge together with Welsh cakes. We all enjoyed our week and would stay again at the drop of a hat!

• "Valley High was everything we wanted."

  Clean, warm and comfortable with fabulous views both towards the beach & up the valley. 5 minute walk to the beach, down a footpath. It was a great base to visit Pembrokeshire, but we also enjoyed several walks from the cottage, both along the coastal path & along the beach, stopping for a cuppa & cake at the cafe twice also. Cafe was clean, friendly service & Vegan options. While this is best suited to a car to get about, as a back up there was a regular bus service nearby. I twice caught the bus when Hubby didn’t want to drive, visiting St David’s and a walk at Roch. Very friendly service, approximately 1 an hour in middle of the day, so pretty good service for a rural area. Certainly good enough for days out on holiday. Would highly recommend this cottage. It’s well looked after, and owner was friendly & helpful. We hope we can return one day.

• "This was our second stay at Valley High."

  The location is very central and easy to get to a new place/beach each day. The beach at Newgale is one of the best especially for our cocker spaniel who has so much energy and loves that he can spend a couple of hours just doing his thing. The property is very good and clean and worked a treat for us. Thank you.

• "A wonderful two weeks."

  The cottage was immaculate with everything you could possibly need. The wine in the fridge is a very nice touch! Just a short stroll to a beautiful beach and lovely views from the garden. The owner was helpful and attentive. I would recommend this place 100% and will definitely be back.

• "This is obviously a well loved property with much care given to the facilities."

  The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine along with the appropriate detergent-luxury in my view. The view is amazing with ample parking at the front. There was ample tea, coffee and sugar which was thoughtful. the wine was most welcome. The ambience of the cottage has a feel of welcome and comfort. The owner might consider a bar to aid getting in and out of the shower. I'm 76 and balance is a challenge. I did hold on to the shower attachment but was afraid of pulling out of the wall. Otherwise a lovely place to be!!

• "The property itself is perfect with the added bonus of sea views."

  We found it very clean and tidy and all as described. Our only gripe was the main road it was situated on, can be noisy at peak times and no public foot path. So for an elderly person probably not ideal for a stroll to the beach. Did mention an off road path but didn't see it. Plus the local pub has been burnt down. Still had a great time exploring the area, and this part of Wales is beautiful.

  I hope you had a lovely holiday. I’m sorry you didn’t find the footpath, it’s about 10 yards down the main road from Valley High on the left hand side and it brings you to the bottom of the hill so avoid most of the main road. It is a busy road on times, I hope it didn’t disturb you too much. Property Owner

• "Valley High is a lovely property, perfect for a family of 4 or 5."

  The place is beautifully maintained and clean. Beds were comfy, we were warm and cosy, kitchen equipped with everything you could need and the location is really excellent. The view from the kitchen and lounge is stunning and just a short walk down the hill along a footpath to reach the beach. The weather wasn’t very kind to us but we did manage to watch the sunset on the beach one evening and it was absolutely beautiful. The milk, Welsh cakes and bottle of wine on arrival were much appreciated and the owner’s daughter was so friendly, phoning in advance to check we knew where to go and what to do for check in. We really couldn’t fault anything and would love to stay again in the future.

• "We had a lovely stay here and the weather certainly did not deter us, thanks to having somewhere warm, dry, cozy and a home from home to come back too."

  Beautiful views and a 2 minutes walk to the beach and easy drives to other places to explore. Dog friendly, we have a labrador and there was a hoover to use so we could leave very little trace of her being there. The friendly owners contacted us twice to see that we had arrived and everything was OK and the other was to check we had a good stay. We would definitely return.

  I’m sorry the weather wasn’t kinder to you, but I’m glad it didn’t spoil your holiday too much. Hopefully if you return then you will have better weather and see Newgale and Pembrokeshire at its best. Property Owner

• "Big thank you for a wonderful stay the bungalow had all amenities you could ever need, a welcome bottle of wine was very nice touch."

  Plenty to do around the area Wet days Escape rooms near ST. DAVIDS Scolton Manor Bowls in Milford Haven Cinema Dry days Oakwood theme park (they say tickets are not transferable but I emailed them and they did move to the next day, good if it is a wet day) So many nice walks and local pubs we ran out of time. And the best roads by miles, hard to find a pot hole even small side roads don’t have them. we played a game of finding potholes, one found a credit to you.

• "Valley High is an absolutely delightful little gem!"

  Spotlessly clean and super comfortable with everything we needed. And the views and accessibility to the beach are hard to beat! There were only two very minor issues: The freezer, though a good size, needed defrosting, but we did manage to fit most of our frozen food into it. On arrival we drove past the house twice before finding it - the house sign is quite low down & hard to spot. But these are really minor details - everything else was perfect, and I would not hesitate to recommend it. The owners' communication was excellent, and there was a lovely welcome pack of tea, welsh cakes & a bottle of wine when we arrived. Also a helpful instruction leaflet of anything we needed to know. We felt very welcomed and a bit spoilt - it was a brilliant holiday - thanks to the owners for everything they do to make it such a lovely spot! PS Just to mention for future customers that although it is advertised as dog-friendly, dogs are not allowed on sofas/ beds. Our well behaved dog is used to sitting on sofas with us, so it wasn't much fun keeping him off - but that was my error for not reading the small print when we booked.

• "Really lovely place to stay."

  Comfortable and immaculately clean. Extra touches of milk, Welsh cakes and wine appreciated. It's lovely to be able to walk down to the beach. Our dog was safe in the enclosed garden. The only thing that we would have liked is some kind of streaming service/wifi/chromecast for the tv so we could log in to iplayer/netflix etc.

• "This is a very nice, clean and well cared for bungalow."

  It has most of what you would need to enjoy your stay, with a secure garden for dogs to be in. Our only disappointment was that it was not mentioned in the description that the cottage is on the A487 which is a very busy road with no footpath. so whilst Newgale Beach is only a short walk away, I would NOT be walking down the A487 with no footpaths.

• "THE PERFECT SEASIDE PROPERTY!"

The thing that sets Valley High apart from the many country cottages that I have stayed in is the lovely homely feel that was so warm and welcoming after long walks along the coastal path with my dog. And the great seaside theme of coastal pictures and nautical nick-nacks throughout the property made it a superb stay.

• "Lovely place with great location."

  nice view. 5 min by walk for the beach (dogs allowed). Other details, but really appreciated: beach seats available, dish washer or laundry capsules, binoculars etc... And the ice-creams from the farm near-by...they are amazing! Walks from there are beautiful. Only negative point, we could hear the traffic from the road from the bedrooms, not much an issue later during the day or from other rooms. However the location, view and fully furnished accomodation clearly outweigh the inconvenience. We would not hesitate to go back there

• "My family and I really enjoyed our stay."

  The location of the cottage was idyllic. It was easy to reach so many wonderful local locations and equally nice to stay on site or walk to the local beach. The cottage itself was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully on hand. The only slight criticism is that there was quite a lot of building work going on in the next door properties - even so, the builders we're all very polite and unobtrusive. We will definitely try to book again. Thank you.

• "As returning guests we knew the area and what to expect."

• "Very delightful cottage, very well stocked up with everything needed for a self catering holiday."

  This suited us ,as we were looking for somewhere quiet and it ticked all the boxes. This may not be the case for other clients who wish to go out too eat, as there were no shops or restaurants near by, apart from a pub at the beach, but as we never went to it I can’t give a comment. The cottage was very COVID-19 friendly, as their were separate bins labelled for waste and also sealed bags for their disposal. We did find the main bed mattress didn’t suit us, but overall it didn’t spoil our stay, otherwise everything else was very comfortable.

  Well equipped, very clean, owner welcoming, even rang to see if we had arrived safely. Gifts of wine, cakes & milk for our arrival, enclosed back garden for my Jack Russell to enjoy, close to Solva, St David’s, St Brides Bay, and perfect convenience store in Solva for your everyday needs & homemade pies, pasta ect. Couldn’t fault anything, would love to return!

• "What an amazing location and dog friendly cottage, photos of views dont do it justice just lovely."

  All the little extra special touches and information by the host was really appreciated. The nearby surf and cafe shop was fantastic, try the pasties! Best ever! The wood fired pizza cabin was a short walk away and we found a chinese and indian takeaway that delivered from Haverfordwest so perfect after a day bodyboarding on the beach that was a 2 minute walk away. I cannot wait to return back to this fantastic holiday cottage! Sykes were a pleasure to book with too.

• "We were delighted with the cottage, especially the view from the magnificent windows."

  It was immaculately clean, light , airy and comfortable. The garden was much appreciated by our golden retriever and very safe for him to play, as well as a sheltered suntrap for us. The heating was great and kept us snug on a couple of wet, cold days. The shower was a bit weak but adequate, and a new frying pan is needed as the old one has popped. But everything else was great, with everything you could need provided, even hand gel during covid restrictions. Couldn't walk from the cottage easily as the road was very busy, we didn't notice the footpath at the side until the last day, but no noise due to the double glazing. Overall, lovely cottage, good location with fab views. We had a relaxing week

  It is really well situated for coastal walks or a stroll along the 2 mile beach. The garden not only offers stunning views but is also nice and secure if you have a dog. The owners were extremely helpful, phoning on our arrival to make sure that everything was okay for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this place - such excellent value for money!

  The owners were so friendly, calling to make sure we had settled in and had everything we needed, reassuring us we could contact them at any time if we needed anything. I mentioned that it was my husbands birthday while we were away and asked if they could recommend anywhere for a meal out or a takeaway and received an email suggesting a number of places, along with contact numbers. She had even contacted the local pub for us to check what they were currently offering. We couldn’t have asked for more of a welcoming experience. We would definitely stay at this property again.

• "From arriving to a nice welcome pack including "Welsh cakes" to when we left we felt the owner wanted to make sure we were happy."

  We received a phone call an hour after we arrived to make sure everthing was right with the property. The views were stunning, the equipmemt was above the norm so my wife and I say give this property a go you wont be disappointed.

• "Lovely location, fabulous views, very close to beach and coastal path."

  Comfortably furnished and plenty of space for 5 adults. Enjoyed a meal at the pub within walking distance. Surf hire very convenient too. Lots of lovely walks in the area. Great beaches. Coasteering experience was great for our daughters. Wild life spotting boat trip to Grassholme Island was fun and interesting. St. Davids is a lovely little city. Also lots of other pretty coastal villages to visit. Lots of locally made food to try; ice cream, cafes etc. Only slight down side is the noise from the busy coast road during the day (quiet at night).
