  • "We had a lovely week in Love Cottage."

It had everything we needed but the battery powered Hoover didn't work which was a shame as both our dogs were moulting, but we used the other Hoover in the cupboard which worked fine on the laminate floor but not so well on the bedroom carpet. We would like to have done a better job hoovering up after our dogs. Also, the cottage looks in your photos as if it is stand alone, which is not the case. It didn't matter to us but might to other people. However, we plan to book again!

Thank you for you review abd I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay. I'm so sorry the hoover didnt work, I'm wondering if it wasnt charged as the battery can be difficult to slot in properly and thank you for trying so hard to keep it hair free. Yes the cottage is one of only 9 properties on the tiny complex and sorry if you found the photo misleading but thank you for your 100% score on all other aspects. I'll look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

  • "On arrival we were surprised that there wasn’t much privacy."

Not only were there neighbours at the front of the property but in the picture the back looked private but it didn’t show that there was a path to Poppy Cottage running down the side, so when having a drink or food people staying in Poppy cottage would be walking passed, also Poppy cottage had an outdoor cinema, hot tub and bbq in their outside space so when they were outside their noise carried into Love cottage’s outdoor space and into the property too, so no matter where you sat for a quiet drink or food you had neighbours at the front and heard/saw neighbours at the back too. The pictures showed Love cottage as adjoined to the Farmhouse and a lawn surrounding them but in fact outside Love cottage’s bedroom window were the car parking for the Farmhouse,Love cottage and Poppy cottage so when in bed on a morning if any of the neighbours went out you heard them walking past and getting in their cars, not ideal for a lie in. The fridge inside at the back was all frozen up so wasn’t working properly and the extraction fan also didn’t work, there was a big ball of fluff/dust on some coasters by the tv and quite a lot of spiders and spiderwebs to many to say it’s because it close to trees. While the cottage was a nice little place it was the surroundings that let it down. We booked it from looking at the pictures of how tranquil it looked but the photos were obviously photoshopped. They don’t show the other 4 dwellings attached to the Farmhouse or the said pathway to Poppy Cottage and parking bays. Wouldn’t have booked it if the pictures and descriptions were correct. Shame cause the cottage was nice. Oh and a curtain or blinds up the front door would be good because at night when the lights are on the neighbours can see right in and watch you going to the loo and bedroom, not good when coming out of the bathroom after a shower to go the bedroom draped in just a towel.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review but I feel I must point out some details that I believe to be unfair criticism. Firstly yes of course there are neighbours, The Farmhouse has its own enclosed outside area so have some of the other properties on site as most holiday lets do! However there are only 9 properties. There are 4 parking spaces allocated at the side of the cottage, all close and convenient for The Farmhouse, Love Cottage and Poppy Cottage, the path to Poppy Is behind Love Cottage and does pass the rear sitting area but Poppy is also a one bed cottage and the only time you see anyone is when coming or going to or from that particular cottage. nobody else has access. you can see the path from the rear photo. I can assure you the photos are NOT 'photoshopped' as you say, they are all taken by a professional photographer employed by Sykes. The 2 panels of glass on the front door are Obscured for privacy!! • "No privacy in either front or back areas."

Overlooked at front by neighbours kitchen and back by their bedroom. Dead spiders & cobwebs everywhere. Fridge shelves all broken & fridge started to freeze our food. Requested to leave thermostat as it was. Not enough crockery, wooden spoons, non-stick pans. No grill pan. Smaller than expected, wouldn’t like to be there as a family of 3. Good as a base but would go further into Tenby/Saunderfoot next time.

Sorry to read the cottage did not meet your expectations though I do everything I can to maintain and continue to provide the best accommodation I can for my guests. The back outside space is totally private so I have no idea what neighbours bedroom you mean!!! The property is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive by a Mum and Daughter duo who work really hard so apologies if you found a bug but given the cottage is set deep in countryside it is sometimes inevitable. "Fridge shelves all broken"???? I am aware that the corner of one shelf was damaged but the others are all fine! There is a full set of crockery in the drawer and plenty of baking trays and utensils so again ???? The cottage is fully photographed on the Sykes website so shows exactly what size each room is so im surprised to hear it was smaller than you thought. Its an ideal location for easy access into Tenby or Saundersfoot and also to all of the beautiful sites and beaches that Pembrokeshire offers. Property Owner

The kitchen had plenty of utensils etc. It is useful having a small front & back garden & you can walk around Redberth Gardens where you can usually spot the pigs & goats. Situated just off the A477 it is a great location to visit Tenby, Saundersfoot, Carew castle & other great places like Barafundle Bay. It was my first Christmas away from home with my little chihuahua & we thoroughly enjoyed it so much I immediately re-booked for Christmas 2024 whilst there!. As I always like to sit & eat at a dining table it was handy to have the folding tables available. It was so warm & cozy especially during storm Gerrit!. Remember It is a 1 bedroom cottage & therfore I feel the owner has utilised the space well making it feel both homely & inviting. See you in 2024! & thank you for making my first Christmas away so welcoming!

Thank you Dawn for your kind review. It is so lovely to know you appreciated the cottage so much and enjoyed your Christmas there. I hope you can make it again before next December as you are most welcome. Thanks again. Sian. Property Owner

  • "Love Cottage is small, modern, cute and so cosy ."

It was perfect for the 2 of us and a nice place to come back to, it has 2 small outside spaces which would be ideal for dogs. The owners have put some lovely plants and baskets there. We were able to sit out a few times when the weather allowed and even though the road runs in front of the site you cant see it and it didn't bother us at all, it feels like you're deep in the countryside as there's trees everywhere and a big green grass area in front of the row of properties. we were left some wine and chocolates which were most appreciated. lovely and clean with bath sheets {a big plus for me} and nice bed linen. The bed is a standard double even though we prefer a King but it was very comfortable. We visited Barafundle Bay, Carew Castle, Tenby, Saundersfoot and Freshwater East, all stunning. We ate out a few times and also used the Severn Spice Indian for a delivery which was delicious. The cottage was very well equipped, and some extra luxuries like a Nespresso coffee machine with pods, a Smart TV, a large double shower and also plenty of tea, coffee and Hot Coffee and you don't need to take or buy tea cloths, fairy liquid etc etc as its all there. We used the Aldi and Tesco in Pembroke Dock for our supplies, an easy ten minute drive away. A great base for exploring Pembrokeshire, We will definately come back.

Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm so glad you loved the Cottage and especially Pembrokeshire. Please do come back, I'd love to have you. Property Owner

  • "The property was very unclean."

I have addressed it to yourself. Behind toilet seat dirty, cooker disgusting and did not want to touch it. Cobwebs everywhere, sofa bed not usable as very uncomfortable. Overall shocking to be honest. Sykes were kind enough to move me but sadly I brought my Niece with me to give my sister a break. My niece has autism and does not do change very well so did not want any further disruption.

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. I apologise firstly for the few weeds and twigs that were in the rear outside space and also for the baskets, they didnt survive the heatwave 6 weeks ago unfortunately and the maintenance man was due to come and change them. However, I do not accept your criticism of cleanliness of the property or the discomfort of the sofa bed. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned inbetween each booking, photographs are taken and kept and have been sent to Sykescottages.co.uk as proof of exactly how the cottage looked 2 hours before your check in time. I wonder why you made your complaint on the fourth day of your stay. The sofa-bed is relatively new and was an upgrade for which I paid extra, providing more comfort and durability. I hope you enjoyed your welcome gifts and beautiful Pembrokeshire. Property Owner

  • "The way Love Cottage was portrayed was very misleading being shown as an attached Cottage to a farm house with a large lawned area in front."

Also there was another small cottage squeezed in between the two which did not give much privacy around the back although the garden area was not particularly inviting with the fence having green mould and looking damp. Add to this the constant noise of traffic from the A477 and being literally just over the hedge we were very disappointed .

Thank you for your feedback though a very different review to that in my visitors book. The photo of the cottage has not been photoshopped in any way and is indeed attatched to The Old Farmhouse with a large green area in front. Poppy Cottage is another Holiday apartment behind the cottage which is part of the complex of 9. The fence turns green every year from leaf mold from all the trees surrounding the cottage but is painted annually. The A477 is the road to Pembroke Dock and is busy at certain times of the day however it is shielded by the barrier of 80ft trees between the road and the complex. • "Cottage was lovely."

Very handy for places of interest. Nr Beaches, catles, marinas etc. Only disappointment was no readily available cushions for sitting outside the front, and private back garden needed some TLC ( weedy path, mouldy green fencing in need of a paint) Both didnt live up to our expectation from the photos on the website .Otherwise a nice place to stay and an excellent location. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks.

Thank you for your response and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome to take cushions from the cottage to use on the outside seat's. When we had permenant cushions on our outside furniture we had nothing but complaints about them being wet so its a difficult one! At the start of each season the fence is painted but the leaf mold from the trees turns everything green fairly quickly unfortunately. The path comes under the responsibility of The Management company so that is out of my control. I'm glad you loved the cottage itself and the location. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Love cottage was in a beautiful location, perfect for visiting Tenby and the surrounding area."

Sian was very helpful, both in responding to a couple of issues with the cottage and in providing info on the local area. The cottage was well equipped and welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Just a couple of helpful suggestions; the cottage is only really big enough for two (there is a sofa bed, hence it allows three but even taking our 9 month old baby was a squeeze!) It would really benefit from a washing machine and a dining table and chairs if like us you make use of the self catering for meals etc. Neither were listed so we knew they weren't available, but we missed them! Otherwise a gorgeous place, on a lovely site.

Thank you for tsking the time to write your review. However, as you were aware that there was no washing machine and dining table and chairs. I'm unsure why you have marked Facilities at only 50%? There are folding tables supplied instead and very limited space to provide table and chairs. I understand the comfort may have been a lesser score as you say you found there wasn't enough space with your babies belongings aswell. I can imagine that being tight with a Travel cot, High chair etc etc taking up extra space. Also. I would have appreciated knowing if there with a problem with the cleaning as its thoroughly cleaned in-between each changeover ( I noticed you gave cleanliness a lower score) and My cleaner would have been more than happy to come out and rectify any issue for you. I am of course thrilled with the very kind comments left in my Visitors Book and am so pleased you "can't wait to return." Thank you. Kind Regards, Sian. Property Owner

We immediately felt very welcome and at home. The cottage was as the pictures... pretty, well equipped, very clean and super cosy. The cottage was also well stocked with basic essentials also... tea towels, cooking utensils, cleaning products and so on. It is compact with everything you need. (No washing machine, however, with many local launderettes, this was not a problem. I chose to worry about it when I arrived home) The modern shower was lovely, all feeling pretty new. The sofas were also comfy... and the cottage was a joy to return to after long days out and especially on the evening when it rained. My husband, my son and myself felt the size was perfect. We used the sofa bed for our son, which I was not looking forward too however with it being of good quality, it was a breeze to pull out at night and put away the next morning, using the double bed room for the additional bedding. We all felt we slept later than usual due to being so relaxed and comfortable. Our dog enjoyed the small front and back enclosed area as well as the local walk through the country lane. ( right of the entrance) The location could not be better if you prefer, like us, to be out of the way of crowded holiday type places... however being amazingly close to everywhere this area has to offer. My son especially loved having Carew Karting literally 5 minutes away, as well as Heatherton activities. We especially loved being close to Saundersfoot and Wisemans Bridge. Having spent six nights at Love Cottage we were very sad to leave. We have very much enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return. A pretty, cosy, clean cabin type interior which is perfect for couples or small families such as ours. Thank you Sian for making us feel so welcome and your kind gifts. Thank you also to Sykes Cottages who made our booking experience straightforward as well as keeping us well informed.. A wonderful week away at Love Cottage. We do hope to return soon.
