  • "We had a great stay at Geryllan."

Lovely cottage in a peaceful and quiet village. Great pub called the Royal Oak is a 5 minute walk away. We had Sunday dinner there infront of an open fire and it was brilliant. The new owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Definitely will be going back to the cottage and pub.

  • "A very spacious and comfortable bungalow, with a lovely garden and little stream running around it , which sounds lovely in the evening."

Opposite is a collection of sheep, ducks, geese and chickens, with fresh eggs available for a small charge. Spacious bedrooms and comfy beds . A generous living space with a suntrap patio with seating and chimnea, which was well used with the weather we had !! . Might be useful for hooks on backs of doors to hang towels and dressing gowns ? . We had a wonderful stay and even had a Sunday roast in The Royal oak pub , a nice stroll about 10 mins , but need strong legs to climb the very steep hill!! , but at least its all downhill on way back !! . Good communication with Peter, the owner. Many thanks for letting us stay in your lovely bungalow.

  • "Can't fault the property, loved staying here."

However the description of the location and the nearby facilities is completely inadequate and misleading. Would we have have stayed knowing that the nearest place for food or supermarket is a 20min drive away... No. I strongly suggest you update local facilities

The property

A tranquil, secluded bungalow set in pretty gardens, surrounded by working farmland, with valley views on the outskirts of Rhandirmwyn, a small village on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons).

Just a short drive from the pretty, popular market town of Llandovery, the house is the perfect base for exploring the area, with its peaceful location making it ideal for a relaxing family holiday, or a getaway with a group of friends.

All ground floor, there are three double bedrooms, a family bathroom and a separate shower room.

There is an open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area with lovely views on both sides and a comfortable sitting area with a TV and DVD player.

Sip your morning cup of coffee as you enjoy the views across the garden and beyond, and in the evenings you can curl up by the woodburner and reminisce about the day's adventures.

Outside, sit on the patio and relax, listening to the soothing babbling sounds of the streams that border the garden, and stoke up the chiminea as the evening wears on.

The area is surrounded by stunning views and with valley walks from the doorstep, make sure you pack your walking boots!

Walk up Dinas Hill, to the hideaway cave of the historic highwayman Twm Sion Cati, try and spot the elusive dippers on the banks of the streams, or take a 30-mile drive to the popular Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales.

The area is rich in mining history; Rhandirmwyn was once the site of the thriving Nantymwyn lead mine and a few miles away is the National Trust Dolcothi Gold Mine, so why not give panning for gold a go?

Close to the edge of the National Park, you are ideally placed to explore the mountains and foot hills of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons).

The area offers various outdoor activities, such as pony trekking, fishing and birdwatching, as well as great walking routes and cycle trails.

The thriving little town of Llandovery is just seven miles away and an hour's drive will take you to the beautiful Regency Harbour town of Aberaeron and the stunning Ceredigion Bay.

20 miles away is the popular riverside town of Llandeilo, with its fabulous boutique-style shopping and the striking National Trust nature reserve and historic house, Dinefwr.

Peaceful and secluded, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the valley, yet still be in the heart of a village community, Geryllan is a fabulous holiday home for all.

About the location

RHANDIRMWYN

Llandovery 7 miles.

Rhandirmwyn nestles beautifully in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains, and is set on either side of the River Tywi. This is a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an idyllic rural retreat. Dinas RSPB reserve and Llyn Brianne reservoir are a short distance away as is Twm Sion Catti’s cave (hiding place of the Welsh Robin Hood!) Spectacular cycling and walking routes such as the Cwm Rhaeadr trail are right on the doorstep, with beauty and exhilaration combined. Walkers and cyclists can tackle the scenic routes before enjoying a rest at the Towy Bridge Inn next to the century old metal Tywi Bridge or in the heart of the village, at the Royal Oak country pub - both serve good food all year round. Rhandirmwyn's hollow oak tree is reputed to have started life in the 12th century, which probably makes it the oldest tree in Carmarthenshire, and a unique natural highlight for visitors to this pretty village. The Drovers market town of Llandovery is also nearby and offers a wide range of day-to-day facilities, restaurants, pubs and the Heart of Wales railway station operating between Swansea and Shrewsbury, while further north you can enjoy a variety of events at Builth Wells Showground. With the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) and Black Mountains on hand this is a walker’s paradise. There are many days out to choose from in this lovely area, including Dolaucothi Gold Mine, Dinefwr Park and Castle, Aberglasney House and Gardens, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves, all of which are a short drive away. The seaside is just over an hour away to the Ceredigion coastline with its quiet, secluded beaches, seal and dolphin watching. A delightful village in beautiful countryside.
