  • "I have just had a wonderful week at Quill Farm with 3 generations of my family."

We all fitted in lovely. The different spaces were well thought out. The balcony space became our card playing area and nap space. Communication with the owner was excellent. There were a couple of maintenance issues which the owner was pleased to be alerted to so that they could be rectified. Lots of great forest walks nearby, especially Rendlesham Forest. Lovely place for coffee 5 minutes away at the station. Altogether a lovely week had by all.

  • "Quill farm barn is simply incredible."

We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate our small civil wedding ceremony with our closest family and friends and the barn was perfect for this. Its a gorgeous location with views to the lake and forest, the barn is absolutely beautiful with multiple levels, its a gorgeous conversion and we couldn’t be happier with our choice! Richard is the loveliest host, he was super helpful with every request we had and made us feel at home from the moment we got in. There are lovely walks around the area too! You won’t find anything better than this beautiful barn, and it has everything you could possibly need too! Thank you Richard and Sandie again! We would absolutely love to come back.

  • "Our stay was for a family of 6 adults and 3 dogs."

Quill Barn is attractive and spacious in a beautiful setting. Fantastic grounds, very peaceful and private and also secure for dogs. The bedrooms are well furnished (although some feather pillows may be an improvement). Plenty of storage/hanging space and a fan supplied. Each couple in our party had their own ‘wing’ and bathroom facilities which was brilliant. The bathrooms/toilets were high standard, immaculately clean with lovely thick fluffy towels. General facilities in the barn and outdoor space were very good. The chefs amongst the group did think that the kitchen could benefit from a measuring jug, a microwaveable mixing bowl and a set of wooden spoons. Having seen that the downstairs is open plan we brought a barrier for the stairs with us to confine pets to this area. There are some good walks from the barn, one of our favourites was to Wickham Market through the fields and of course to the Duck pub in the local village. Overall we had a great, relaxing stay and would recommend Quill Barn.

  • "We stayed here at the end of summer for 4 nights."

The barn is beautiful, the grounds are amazing and around the back the fenced off lake adds an extra touch, the sound of trickling water in the evenings and the light shining on the lake is very tranquil. The children enjoyed the ducks that were very shy but friendly, they'd come to say hello! Children loved the tennis court and we all enjoyed looking for bats up the lane by the house, at dusk. Well spaced out downstairs, great kitchen and bonus was there were lots of toilets! Lovely location very quiet and peaceful. We sat out one morning and spotted a hawk! Lots to do in the area we just didn't have time to do it all but Sutton Hoo is a must it's fascinating! We ate at the local pub The Duck on the Sunday, it's a 15 minute walk from the property, food very good quality the roast beef the best ive ever had and staff all very welcoming. We also visited a local farm shop and bought lots of goodies for a bbq we had that evening. We love the area and will return to do more exploring of castles and beaches, shops and cafes. The only downside to the barn is the bedroom leading off from the kitchen can get stifling hot and one family had to move rooms as the heat was unbearable. There is a fan but it didn't help much, and the windows don't open. The room is stunning with original beams and views of the front garden from the bed. I have fed this back to the owner who is now aware and has acknowledged. Oh and the maintenance guy Steve is great he was always on hand when needed! Beautiful holiday, beautiful memories ❤️

The barn was beautiful with gorgeous grounds and the tennis court was an added bonus! The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and the towels especially thick and soft. We had a couple of small issues which were resolved very quickly by the owner. We would love to come again and would definitely recommend the barn to our wider family and friends.

  • "Overall a good stay at this property, with plenty of space for our group."

We loved having the tennis court (although it good do with a bit of TLC, lots of mini-pot holes which deflect the ball!). The rooms were sufficient for our needs, but generally they could use a little spruce up as the paintwork felt a bit tired. Given the warm weather, we realised very quickly that the house heated up a lot and in the absence of any air conditioning or fans in all of the rooms, this made the rooms very hot for sleeping! The garden was very nice and the barbecue was perfect.

We are a group of 11 who met 50 years ago and this was one of the best properties we have stayed in. It provided a wonderful social area for us and the 3 dogs were very safe in the extensive grounds. Richard the owner was very helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. He gave very good advice on the local area and he was certainly correct about the butcher he recommended. The only problem you might experience is if you have a dog that doesn’t stay put at night as you can’t enclose them at night. You would need to take your own barrier.

It was perfect for all twelve of us and most traveled by car but several came from London by train and it was great that Wickham Market station was just three minutes away by car. On arrival we found the property spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. Richard, the owner popped in and was very welcoming and said we could contact him if we had any problems.

There were a few maintenance issues which included the microwave sparking inside, which was replaced very quickly by the maintenance guy and some of the cooking utensils need replacing eg. The chopping boards, spatulas and frying pans, also there were only three tea towels. The oven was quite grubby and smelt of stale fat and some cooking pots had to be cleaned by us before we could use them. The bedrooms are a good size as are the bathrooms, and well presented, with the exception of one bed, when it was stripped, the mattress protector was quite stained. The tennis court and the equipment provided in were very popular with our grandchildren.

The tennis court was a huge attraction for both children and adults ( the supplied first aid kit was appreciated!). Plenty of interesting walks in the area although the public footpaths are not well maintained. The Duck Inn in Campsee Ashe serves excellent food and the children loved the adjacent playground. The Co-op and butchers in Wickham Market met all our catering needs. The Barn was well equipped with crockery and cutlery. The ONLY criticism was the lack of a 2nd indoor communal space with a TV !

Spacious and very well equipped. Large, safe garden. Quiet location, but very convenient for exploring Suffolk. We would recommend sandy Southwold beach for a day out, as well as Jimmy’s Farm, which was a great hit with all ages. Sunday lunch at local pub, The Duck, was very enjoyable, with friendly service and there is a play area attached for the little ones. We had a couple of small maintenance problems which were duly reported and sorted out speedily. Highly recommended.

  • "Quill Farm Barn is an ideal venue for larger family get togethers or group of friends."

We were a party of 13 and found the property well equipped and spacious for the four families making up our group. There's outdoor seating areas and vast grounds which enhance the stay by giving a sense of space and greenery. We made extensive use of the tennis court (some racquets and balls provided) throughout the day and into the evening. The outdoor BBQ area (sheltered) was ideal for the day the rain came, yet was warm enough to still be outside to cook, eat and enjoy the scenery. The kitchen is well equipped and Nespresso machine an essential piece of kit. Unlike some large properties there was enough crockery and plates for max groups and serving plates for BBQs. Inside the kitchen are two fridges and a freezer but the additional fridge freezer out back was much appreciated when the Sainsbury delivery arrived with a week's worth of food for 13 people! Situated in amongst the greenery means that there is no noise pollution and equally, as you are not overlooked we were able to let the children run about outside, without worrying about annoying other holiday makers. With regards to parking there really is ample room for multiple vehicles (we had 8 at one point). Only downside we found was a weak WiFi signal -especially with so many devices attached. One or two devices attached worked fine but with a larger group it is problematic if everyone is on phones/tablets. The property is a 20min walk along a well used trial from Wickham Market where you can buy all you need from the CO-OP as well as visit tea rooms and other useful shops -including hardware in case you need it. Best beach was Southwold approx 35mins away, lots of golden sand, interesting attractions along the pier and plenty of shops for eating, drinking and gift shopping. Another favourite was a visit to Sutton Hoo approx 15mins away which entertained our young family for the whole day (free for National trust members) We met the owners during our visit who were keen to ensure we were happy with the property and how to contact them should any issue arise. We were also given various local recommendations which was appreciated. I would definitely recommend this property to families/family groups for the space, safety, tennis courts, amenities, playpark within walking distance and short car trips to places of interest.

It was clear that this barn had been meticulously planned to allow comfortable living for a large group of people - absolutely perfect for our family celebration! We enjoyed a great day at Aldeburgh beach and some local walks as recommended by the owner.
