• "We had a fantastic few days in this beautiful cottage."

  It was certainly worth the 300 mile journey from Cumbria! It was a great base to explore an area we didn't know, and a lovely place to return to each evening. It was like a home from home and a boutique hotel all rolled into one. The attention to detail was second to none and the thoughtful extra touches were most appreciated. The welcome basket, including eggs from the owners' chickens amongst many other things, was the best we've had. The Forge is a real credit to you, Bev and Graham, and it was clear that you were rightly proud of it! We will certainly book again when we are in the area. Best wishes Tracey and Gary

• "We had a great time staying at The Forge."

  Bev & Graham made us feel very at home . Super welcome goodies & fresh eggs laid by their chickens. ( The girls as I called them ) The Forge beautifully decorated with every thing one would need. Central for exploring & there was even Northern lights one evening. Thank you both The Forge very comfortable & we enjoyed our stay .

• "The Forge was immaculate, so much thought had gone into making it comfortable and cosy."

  The attention to detail in the furnishings. Everything you could need was provided. The way the space had been used to accommodate everything was amazing. Bev and Graham were excellent hosts but without being at all intrusive. Very welcome goodies were left in the kitchen which was a lovely touch including fresh eggs from there hens.

• "Beautifully presented accommodation, tastefully decorated and accessorised."

  Quiet location with lovely walks on the doorstep. Owners were really welcoming and helpful. Welcome pack of fresh eggs laid by the owners hens, fresh bread, conserves and orange juice. Complementary house slippers were also a nice touch!

• "Fabulous property perfect for visiting Suffolk and its surrounds."

  Bev and Graham were great hosts but let us have our privacy. Although the property is in part of their garden it still felt separate and secluded. We would highly recommend and go back if in the area. Everything was immaculate and lots of attention to detail. Great value.

• "Absolutely beautifully finished little cottage."

  Attention to detail is fabulous. The cottage is within the garden and at the end of the drive of the owner, but it really wasn't an issue at all, Parking right outside the door next to the lovely weeping silver birch tree. Bev was friendly and welcoming but then left me to it. Her gardens are absolutely stunning and I really enjoyed looking out of the window over the summer borders. The bed is extremely comfortable, and even though it is an open plan, living room, bedroom with dining area, in one room, the way that it has been laid out feels spacious and calming. The decor is really lovely. I travelled alone and stayed two weeks whilst I worked in the area - there is also excellent wifi which was useful for me to catch up on work in the evenings. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend much time in The Forge, much to my dismay. It has such a nice feel, I could have happily relaxed and sat in the garden for hours. The second week I was there it was very hot. Bev had switched the duvet for a light summer duvet which was very thoughtful and added a fan but I didn't need it as with the windows and velux open through the evening, it cooled down nicely. The kitchen is compact and has no oven but that wasn't a problem for me. There is a combi microwave thing and Bev can provide a Chef Ninja which I think is an air fryer, but I didn't need it. Bev has kitted it out with everything you could need to prepare a meal. Even a loaf of home made bread, butter, and a pint of milk. Very useful for my late arrival. I highly recommend The Forge if visiting the area. I would definitely stay there again if I am in the area. Thank you Bev for a lovely stay.

• "Wow, definitely one of Suffolks best kept secrets."

  The Forge is a superb country escape, beautifully equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need. So quiet and restful. The owners have taken a piece of Suffolk's history and lovingly restored and improved the Forge to a very high standard even keeping some of the original features. Even though the Forge is in the owners garden it is still very private and you are not disturbed by them in the slightest. Do not let this put you off. The parking is secure and the gardens and surroundings are immaculate. The hosts left us a welcome pack which was gratefully received and a lovely little touch. Thanks for a great couple of days, hopefully see you again.

• "Absolutely first class all round."

  Great welcome from the hosts, including a lovely little welcome pack of bread etc. Accommodation superb with an attention to detail everywhere you looked, just like the photographs displayed on the website. Very clean and modern within a superb restoration of original features. Good location to explore the area with plenty of places to visit. No hesitation to book again.

• "We found Forge cottage immaculately prepared, clean and welcoming."

  I noted the quality of the fittings. Bev was very friendly and talked to us several times. We stayed just 4 days but managed good walks in the locality, and a day out to Lavenham (exquisite) and Long Melford. It would be good to return to do more justice to that part of Suffolk, and to enjoy Forge cottage once more.

• "The Forge is beautifully converted, spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and very comfortable with very friendly owners, Bev and Graham."

  A bonus is the dressing room with plenty of storage. It is set in the owners pretty garden with it's own seating area. We would highly recommend for a peaceful break.

  Only slight minus is the lack of an oven, but with some great places to eat nearby it wasn't too much of a problem.

  There are plenty of historic towns & villages to visit & some lovely countryside in the surrounding area. It is also only a short drive to the east coast with the option of lively or more peaceful resorts. Bev & Graham are considerate hosts & were nearby to make sure that everything was okay for us.

• "Utterly delightful cottage - tastefully renovated old forge where the old has seamlessly been blended with the new."

  Although not noted as suitable for those with mobility issues, my wheelchair using wife (who can stand and walk just a few meters) managed well. Our Hosts (Bev & Graham) were exceptional, welcomed us in person and a welcome basket of some basics was waiting inside. just 3-4 miles from Stowmarket (a quaint small town, that generally only takes cash) but also with major supermarkets for the larger shops and where cards can be used. Great chineese takeaway 5 min walk and general store/ post office 10 mins walk. As a bonus, the chickens entertained and greeted us outside the rear window each day. Easy drive to Bury St Edmonds, Felixstowe and Norwich. Loved visiting Flatford Mill (Constables Haywain) a short drive down the A12. Thank you for a fab holiday.

  Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and pretty much everything you need for a lovely holiday. Helpful owners, the Forge is set in their garden so they’re on hand if you need anything. • "Bev and Graham made us very welcome at their property."

  This old forge has been skilfully made into a lovely studio dwelling. Many features have been retained into a modern setting, dressed with elegance and style. We had everything we needed and queries were addressed immediately. It was lovely to have the chickens, hearing them quietly clucking their chats to each other. Old Newton is a good centre from which to explore and there is plenty to do fairly close by. You could not fail to be pleased with your choice of property if you stay at The Forge.
