  • "My husband and I have had a lovely week in Skipton and the weather could not have been better even though it was November."

Little Wenlock is a perfect cottage with everything you need. The owner had pre-set the heating which kept the cottage really warm so much so we did not need to use the wood burning fire. We are hoping to return next year. nimg fire

The cottage is close to all amenities, bars restaurants shops Skipton castle and the canal. We were able to use the long stay car park 2 minutes away at a cost of £18 for the week very handy as one of us has walking difficulties. Skipton woods is very close and is lovely for a peaceful morning walk after getting a coffee in the Walkers bakery close by. We would definitely recommend this cottage to others

  • "Little Wenlock is bijou, but has everything one needs for a comfortable holiday."

It was lovely to sit having a meal, and watching the narrow boats glide past the window. One could not be closer to the canal, without being in it! Situated very conveniently for the amenities in Skipton, which is itself a great base for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It's a pity there is no parking outside, but the public car park is just at the end of the road, and at £15 for the week is quite reasonable. We have stayed here twice now, and would be happy to do so again.

  • "As someone with limited mobility, I did have issues with getting up and down the stairs and in and out of the bath."

But I appreciate that can't be helped due the age, size and dimensions of the property. It was a lovely property nevertheless, clean and well maintained, with wonderful views of the canal and brook and so close to the high street, supermarkets and other amenities. And I wish my home broadband was as fast! Recommended.

  • "Little Wenlock is a gem in the busy centre of Skipton."

It is in a great location right by the canal, so one can watch the colourful boats go by. It was quiet, comfortable and clean: though bijou, it had all one needed for a good holiday. The only drawback is the parking. But the public carpark is only a few minutes away, and cost £15 for the week, so not bad. If we are ever in that area again, we would not hesitate to stay there again.

However to truly be a 3 person property there need to be an extra armchair, or a larger sofa. Also the double bed is only a three quarter being just 4 feet wide.

The downstairs was OK very clean could do with a more comfortable sofa. The cottage was very handy to walk into Skipton, parking in carpark was OK, pity there was no outside space. The upstairs was a bit more challenging, the main bedroom only had a a small double and the door hit the bed so it couldn't be opened fully. I had to climb from the bottom of the bed to get into bed as there was very little room. The bathroom would need sorted, a very small sink, a large bath would be better replaced with a shower and a toilet stuck in a corner and if the towel rail was on you need to be careful you don't touch it.

  • "Ideal location in a quiet street, yet central for walking to amenities of Skipton."

Cottage was cosy - loved the log burner and views of canal. More suited to couples- not big enough for 3 people, due to main bed being too small for 2, and seating downstairs. Beds and pillows were very uncomfortable- went home with stiff neck. There were 1 or 2 cleaning issues- some glasses hadn't been washed properly, and a few spoons had been put in cutlery drawer unwashed, probably just an oversight. Could've done with another waste bin bag too. Overall, nice cottage and had a lovely week. .

Quality of appliances and cleanliness was good although room on work surfaces was minimal. We were a couple staying but if a third person was there the property would have felt quite restrictive. Although there is no parking at the property public parking is a few minutes walk away and is reasonably priced at £15 for 7 days.

Clean, peaceful and very comfortable. Unfortunately the weather let us down due to very heavy snowfall and consequently extremely cold outside. Ironically, we had to turn the radiators DOWN as it was lovely and snug within the cottage! It's only the weather part that prevented us adding the fifth star. Lovely walks nearby and just a two minute walk to the town centre. Just a small point - no teabags when we arrived which would have been nice but hey!

  • "Love cosey cottage, 5 minutes from the Town Centre yet not at all noisy."

£15 for a 1-week ticket for the Coach Street Car Park which is 2 minutes away solved all our parking issues. The excellent selection of shops and no shortage of pubs and places to eat in Skipton meant we didn't need to drive for our evenings out or any shopping we needed. We had a lovely walk round Malham and also along the canal to Gargrave. On two wet days (it was November!) visited York and The Lake District which are both just over an hour away. Thoroughly recommended, will be back!

The bathroom is very small and cramp, the tv on channels BBC one and two , had a poor signal maybe as the cottage is low down it,s not easy picking up theses channels. As a base everything worked for me as I wanted but if I had two other friends I would have looked for a larger place to rent.

Oh, and a proper pint of milk in the fridge on arrival would be great so you can have a proper cuppa, rather than the little individual milk supplied.

About the location

SKIPTON

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
