Aira Force Loop
Follow this pathway through picturesque National Trust land in Penrith. Start at the information kiosk and follow the path past the picnic benches and on to a gate.
Go through the gate and follow the path along the wall and fence before taking a right at the fork in the road and another right further along at the gap in the fence.
Walk down the steps and across a small wooden bridge that crosses a stream – a great place for a game of pooh sticks! – carry on to the other side and up the stone steps. Continue on the path and pass a wishing tree trunk where you can leave a coin for luck.
Follow the path through the woodland until you reach a stone bridge and the viewpoint for the 20-metre tall Aira Force waterfall. Take the steps to the left and take a rest on some benches or turn right to view the top of waterfall from another stone bridge.
Retrace your steps back to the top of the steps and walk past them to return to the information kiosk and car park.
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Lake District by embarking on the Aira Force Loop…
