Bailey Park
Bailey Park is a lovely meeting spot with a fascinating history to tell!
The Royal Mons Regiment was staged at Bailey Park before being sent to the front lines during World War I. The battalion met outside the Market Hall and took trains to Abergavenny before marching to Bailey Park to receive tea on August 4th.
A Mark IV tank was placed on a tank planter inside the park after the truce, but it was subsequently taken down. An explanation board explaining the history of the tank has now been put up by the Abergavenny Civic Society adjacent to the planter.
