Burgh Island
When visiting South Devon, why not explore the delightful Burgh Island? The tidal island is situated close to the South Devon coast, near the village of Bigbury-on-Sea.
At low tide, you can enjoy the island’s neighbouring beach as well as approach the island itself by foot. During high tide, however, the only means of transport is the sea tractor.
Upon arrival at Burgh Island, you will be immediately drawn in by its picturesque scenery and art deco architecture. Why not embark on a hike via one of the many footpaths weaving throughout the island, where a handful of landmarks await?
One landmark is the remains of a former chapel as well as a few sights resembling those mentioned in Agatha Christie’s novels. One of these is the renowned Burgh Island Hotel, where Agatha would go for writers’ retreats and pen her iconic stories.
Come to Burgh Island for an idyllic outing to remember…
