Castle Crag
Start at the Seatoller National Trust carpark and turn right onto the road. Follow the road through the hamlet and then turn right through a gate onto a wide track. The track goes upwards and to the left towards another gate. Go through the gate and keep walking the track with the wall on your left-hand side.
Wander through a small area of woodland and follow the path to the stream. Turn right here and head straight up the hill towards a gate in the wall above you. Go through the gate and turn right and keep going along this path.
Continue on the path until you get a glimpse of Derwent Water at the cusp of a brow. Just over the brow, take a right onto a sheep track that skirts around the base of a crag and follows the fence to a ladder stile. Climb the stile and turn right to join the main path to the top of Castle Crag.
At the top, you’ll find a war memorial dedicated to Lieutenant John Hamer, who was killed in action in WWI, and the ‘men of Borrowdale.’
Admire unbeatable views across the Lake District from Castle Crag…
